    - zip Compression hi there got a small problem using J# lib in my c# application using Java.Util.Zip, I used an example from the java.sun website seems to work fine compressing small files from 1kb-100kb anything above causes a corruption in the zip entry. Whenever I want to create an instance of the Zipfile to Unzip it throws an exception reading any zipentries from the file. I can also compress alot of small files as before and use WINZIP to extract them perfectly, but again with the large files winzip displays a bad CRC error. If anyone has had a similar problem using java zip your help would much appreciated.     - proper casting from DLL please help....i always seems to have a problem here. i have two functions that i have in my DLL, my app loads the DLL and uses GetProcAddress to have the functions. but in the debuger it tells me: The vale of ESP was not properly saved across a fucntion call.     - Trouble implementing class in VC++.NET I am new to VC++ and I am working to learn it on my own. I am currently working on a card game program and I have my own card, deck and player classes. When I was working on it at first I had all the function of my game from one button and all worked fine. Now I have added different functionality and have developed trouble. I think that my problem is that I need to set up my deck and player classes somehow so that I can access them in any of my button click functions. So I think it is a scope issue. I have tried putting my class declaration lines in several different functions and still have problems. If I place #pragma optimize("g", off) around both foo() and moo() - it helps, but then I lose optimization in moo(). Is it possble to make compiler believe that foo() uses the arguments without turning off global optimization and changing anything in moo() ?     - How to capture an image of desktop and send it in an isapi dll? hi, I need an extension isapp to capture an image of current desktop and send it to user. CWnd::GetDesktopWindow() works correcty to capture an image of desktop on a usual application.     - Winsock recv() trouble Ok, I keep getting the error code 10057. I know this is the Socket is not connected error, but I check to see if there is a socket problem all the way up to this point. at the recv() point there seems to be a SOCKET_ERROR.     - dll eat my functions :< Hi! I think it maybe a question difficult to answer. But I hope there are some people share the same experience with me will give me some hint. I find one dll project very weird. There are some functions in the dll to be export. They are declare with extern "C" _declspec(dllexport). But some function(about 5%) can't be find in the generated dll. (I used ultraedit to search for the name in the dll binary) I finally find out it have some relation to its parameter. for example int funcNoUse(long lRegionID) { return 0; } will be ok, it's generated in the dll. But if i change it to int funcNoUse(long lRegionID, long nPoints, float* pY, LPCTSTR szFlags, int makeCopy) { return 0; } it will not exist in the dll. I really don't know what's up.     - Newbie: Allocate 2 dimentional-array Hi, With these code: int a[3][5]; we are allocated (static) an array 3-by-5 (but continous) elements. But how to allocated dynamically an 3x5 array ? The way i know is: a = new int *[3]; a[0] = new int[5]; a[1] = new int[5]; a[2] = new int[5]; Too complex for a simple task ! and the allocated space is not continous !     - Unresolved external symbol I have defined _WIN32_WINNT 0x0500 and subsequently included windows.h. My g:\dotnet\vc7\platformsdk\lib is among the lib search directories and contains kernel32.lib which exports CreateWaitableTimer() and SetWaitableTimer(). And though it shouldn't be necessary, I have explicitly specified kernel32.lib among additional dependencies. My code compiles but won't link: unresolved external symbol _CreateWaitableTimer unresolved external symbol _SetWaitableTimer What could be the problem? I even notice in the linker's verbose output that kernel32.lib **is** searched, and, for example, SystemTimeToFileTime() is found.     - VC71 command-line tools really a free download? I've seen references (such as on thefreecountry.com) to a free download of the VC71 C/C++ command line compiler tools being available from MS, but so far I haven't been able to figure out which download(s) are necessary. Has anyone actually done this? I don't care about optimizer omissions, just that it be as ANSI/ISO compliant as the release version, and include the full Standard Library. I'd like to be able to document on my web site how to get this, but can't if I haven't successfully done it myself.     - RemoveDirectory() fails I want my program to clean up after itself before it exists, but my call to RemoveDirectory() is failing with a return code of 32 (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process).     - trying to use new library, TONS of link errors Hi- I'm a newb. that may have bit off more than he could chew. I made a nice little static library to handle our file format. I figured it would be clear to include a lib in the many projects that use the format rather than copy and paste code all over the place.     - Debugging OK - picture the scenario. I want to develop a program using C++. I don't have any Visual Studio IDE (please don't say "but I thought you did" - this is for a different environment) I am of the belief I can build unmanaged C++ applciations using all of the things available in the downloadable .NET SDK v1.1, which is free, and downloadable from MS in a huge 108 MB package Now - I have thus got all I need to compile my C++ source code. I am perfectly happy to type my source code into notepad. This is in fact what I WANT to do. Then I thought, this is all fine. But if I want to debug, what options do I have? I asked a question about where the standard downloadable debuggers were but all I got was a link to some kernel/DDK based page - I'm not into kernel or device driver development, just standard windows apps - but using the downloadable (free) SDK - what method do people normally employ to debug applications of this type - do they a) get the application to create a console window to output messages? After shutting down the control (stopping all the activities and killing all the threads) at higher load, it crash once the window is repainted (displaying the window after it is overlaid by other windows). The vc debugger shows the error, that some instructions could not be 'read'. When I analysed the stack, it showed the following VBA6! 0fa9174b() VB6! 0047c9eb() Any idea about these symbols, and how it can be interpreted. A dump of vba.dll didn't show the address. Hello,

I'm trying to detect whether a user runs my program from a virtual machine.
Thus far, I managed to do this for VMware and Virtual PC using WMI (program
is only for WinNT/2000/XP os'es) but e.g. for a program like Bochs I have no
clue. Does anyone know of a generic way to do this ?
