 - Template compilation bug I am having trouble compiling a template class in VC6. Whenever any functions are defined and I try to compile, VC hangs.... the "stop build" icon is available but it does nothing and I have to shut down VC from Task Manager.  - how to get OLE link from Item object Im unable to resolve the problem. So plz try to help me.I will descibe u my requirment here. Problem description: Im writing a custom DLL based on MAPI. Which will send mails. So my problem here is I want to send the outlook item as an Attachment. So for that insted of usaing Attachments.Add method(which is provided by outlook Object Model), Im using a property by which u can assign the "outlook Item" to a member variable. ex: m_AttachObj= item (Im using this, insted of creating attachments collection object, as Im sure that there will be only one attachment as per our requirment). Here If I use Attachments.Add method it will add the attachment as an OLE link. Here im taking m_AttachObj as a CComVariant. So in order to add this(item/m_AttachObj) as an attachment, How do u want me to proceed. Here, clearly I cant get the Filename as item will never have any filename so that I can convert it to a stream, (i.e) using OpenStreamOnFile(). So my worry is how to get an OLE link or ole object from the item thats been assigned to a object varibale from outlook client. I guess u got the problem. I'm getting this while I open the project from the clearcase view. If I copy the project locally, I'm able to compile without any problem. Anybody has a clue of what could be the problem.  - compiling code written in vc++ v1.1 in v6.0 I've got a data acquisition and instrument control program written long ago in VC++ 1.1, that I now want to be able to build in v6.0. I've tried opening a new workspace, and inserting the old project. I've tried opening a new workspace, and inserting the individual files. I can get the code to compile, but I get link errors. I've tried using the static MFC switch, as well as the dynamic DLL. I'm not at the machine with the compiler right now, and I don't have the specific link errors handy right now. It looks to me like I may have to do an interim upgrade of the project? Like from v1.1 to v4.0 first, then up to 6.0? Anybody have a suggestion?  - source code for VB Randomize Hi, Recently, we need to convert an VB-coded program to VC-coded program. However, we're facing a problem. Our VB program use the statement "Randomize" and "Rnd". VC's "srand()" and "rnd()" statements will not generate the same result as VB's "Randomize" and Rnd" statement. Does any one know the assembly or C/C++ code that generate the same result as we use VB's "Randomize" and "Rnd".  - STL equiv of Java ByteArrayOutputStream Hi, I've been under the Java umbrella for the past few years and have recently moved back to C++. I'm trying to remember how all the C++ stream objects work and would like to find one that works similar to Java's ByteArrayOutputStream.  - undeclared identifier All, I could use some direction here. I am learning C++, although I have programmed in C for some time. I am also working with ATL objects and have been doing quite well. My problem is that I am getting "Undeclared Identifiers" on function names and structures for NetWkstaUserGetInfo, NetApiBufferFree, and others although I have <windows.h> and <lm.h> included. I looked at <lm.h> and it includes <lmwksta.h> which has the actual definitions in it. I have used the API call GetUserName with success. My question is what in the blazes am I doing wrong? I'd like to known the other protocols used during the communication and principally the initialization or "connection" phase. Any information making the relation between CAsyncSocket connection steps and the protocol used would be great!  - USB Interface & disconnection notice?? Is there a way to detect a USB disconnection from within code? We have a USB->Serial adapter for serial communication. We have drivers that were written for serial ports. When we unplug and reconnect the Serial side, things pick up where they left off in code. When we unplug the USB side from the PC, the our driver stops working. I'm thinking its because the USB port loads/unloads the correct driver depending on what device connects to it. But in our case, its a cable emulating a serial port. Any ideas on how to detect the disconnect from code? It seems that if we can detect the disconnection, we can simply unload/load our DLL and things should work correctly. All ideas are greatly appreciated. This console application also printed some string at console screen. Now the problem is that the timer funcion never fired though the timer was really created successfully because the timer ID was valid.  - How to compile large programs like emacs in /CLR mode? I want to try to compile emacs using /CLR. If I have 5 dozen different source code modules does this necessarily translate to 5 dozen different DLLs? What does 5 dozen different dlls do to image activation time? Presently emacs compiles with MSVC6. The makefile first compiles and links a program called temacs.exe. Then it runs a program called addsection that edits the executable program to add a new section. Then the newly edited temacs.exe loads and compiles a b(l)oat load of lisp programs which then writes the compiled pCode to the section created by program addsection and then writes a new executable with the compiled lisp code now in the executable. Whew! That is amazing! What is even more amazing is also works with the gcc compile on windows and linux and dozens of other OSes. So how would you alter the makefile compile with /CLR for Win2K? Would you rewrite the lisp virtual machine to use the .NET VM and rewrite the lisp compiler to produce MSIL and save the MSIL in dlls? Uggghhh... Is there not an easier way?  - Could memory corruption cause R6025? I'm getting intermittent R6025 (pure virtual function call) errors. I've followed the instructions given by microsoft and added implementations for all abstract functions and included a DebugBreak() statement. However, I continue to get the errors. My code makes use of DX9, but no other libraries. I've checked for memory leaks with a couple of different tools, but after patching up a few, the problem remained. So, the question is, what is giving me R6025? My DebugBreak() statements never get hit and I find it unlikely that my standard use of the DirectX library would throw these errors. All I can think of at this point is that it's a memory/stack corruption. Since it's intermittent, I can't place any breakpoints locate the problem. I've tried to look for memory corruption using Software Verify's Memory Validator, but when I try to run it with the tool, my app crashes. Any ideas? I tried to put a manifest into the shl ext .dll's resource, but it doesn't work. When I use the MANIFEST_RESOURCE_ID 2 as suggested in the help file, the dll cannot be loaded.  - Compiler speed optimisation I developed code to calculate the inverse of a matrix of double values. When I compile my code in release mode with Maximise Speed optimisation (using Visual Studio DotNet 2003), I get different answers from when I compile the same code in debug mode. Initially the values seem to differ at the 15th decimal place, but this causes the one solution to have an inverse and the other to fail.
