Although there are still some things about Jeff Relf that annoy me ;), I
would like to offer my sincere apology for accusing him of impolite
behavior. It turns out that my newsreader has a configuration option to
cause a change in subject line to be treated like a new thread, and the
default was set the wrong way.

He was right, I was wrong.

One ultra-simple link per post ! by Jeff_Relf

As you noted, Tim_Roberts, I am â?? annoying â??.
Unfortunately for you, I won't be changing anytime soon.

The header of each and every post has a link to its parent,
so all newsreaders should expose the link, I maintain.

Please note that I'm talking about one ultra-simple link per post,
not a complex tree somewhere else, nor a long list of posts,
sorted by date ( as Google Groups does now ).

Perhaps you did not understand, Jeff, that I was trying to be nice.

In Forte Agent, does each post have a link to its parent post ? by Jeff_Relf

Yes, Tim_Roberts, I saw the part where you said
you were wrong to have accused me of killing the thread,
because, in fact, your copy of Forte Agent had the wrong settings.

In Forte Agent, does each post have a link to its parent post ?
If not, that's what I'd like to change, starting with Google Groups.

Agent shows the thread in a tree view, with the responses in order.

Google Groups annoys me. It's a great tool for searching through the
archives, but too many people think that Usenet was a Google invention,
operated and controlled by Google, and that the only way to contribute is
through their web site.

Google doesn't even have an UnRead view, for Christ's sake. by Jeff_Relf

As you noted Tim, Google Groups' user interface sucks;
it doesn't even have an UnRead view, for Christ's sake.
But anyone and everyone has access to it, so I'd like to fix it.

Each and every post already has a link to its parent post, right ?
I merely wish to --> expose <-- that link at each and every post.
Obviously, the Back key would take you back to where you were.

Better than a tree ( Google already has trees ), the link would work
even if the parent post was in an entirely different newsgroup
and/or your newsreader had only downloaded a total of 4 posts
and/or that's all you can see because you're in the UnRead view.
