    - Trying to organize 3k+ folders with a script We have a server that has over 3k folders containing scanned check images, and they need to be organized into folders by year, then month, then day. Not every day has images. The naming structure for the folders is as follows: 0011117040010187 001 (Branch) | 11 (month) | 17 (day) | 04 (year) | 0010187 The folder structure we would like to use looks like this: 2004 --11 NOV ---01 ---02 etc. We can do this by hand, but with so many images i thought it might be easier to use a script. I would figure it out by myself, but I couldn't program to save my life. I almost failed numbers and logic in college if that tells you anything. I've tried every single possible field on the web page... this is the only one that doesn't work I KNOW that this is the proper name for the text field and I've tried MULTIPLE ways to get around this issue. I also know it is, in fact, a text field. I'm not super proficient in HTML, but as far as I can tell there is no difference between this field and any other. The only method I can run using this object is ".Length". I've no idea where to go from here.     - Known bug in CStr (Date ()) in WSH 5.7? Hi folks I've recently updated my XP laptop to SP3 which has uplifted WSH to v5.7 and this has introduced a bug regarding the Date () function. When the result is being converted to a string, it doesn't use the correct local format, but seems to default to US format instead. Here in the UK the standard format is DD/MM/YYYY.     - Need help with copyhere I'm using MS Access 2003 and am running a VBA script that will retrieve an inventory status report from an email. The attachment in the email is a .zip file and I'm try to replace it in a folder. I have 2 problems: 1) The file ends up adding more sub folders; Inventory Reports\filename\apps\prforte\edi_sql\kfs and I don't know how to get rid of it 2) When I use copyhere method I get a dialog box asking me to hit YES to all. Is there some reference library that I do not have in my code that I need to add? I know that &H10& is supposed to get rid of that message but I haven't been able to get it to work. Also I have no idea how to use XCOPY.     - To bring to front existing process... Hi, I had written the following codes as separate vbs files and then called each of them using a batch file that in turn is configured in Task Scheduler in windows, to run whenever the system starts up. The problem I'm facing is ... the second process(cdxfm.exe) does not show as a window on desktop. I mean both the process'(esproc_TUW.exe and cdxfm.exe) should be seen as normal sized windows whenever I login with the service account used to run the Task scheduler. But, I see only the window for 'esproc_TUW.exe' and do not see any window on desktop for 'cdxfm.exe'. I would like to mention another thing that this works fine when I run the Task Scheduler manually, however does not work as expected when the server is restarted and the Task scheduler takes action on its own. This was verified after logging into the server using the same service account and did not find the second process(cdxfm.exe) window open but I can see 2 process ID's for the 1st one and only 1 process id for the second one, with the second one not showing up in front as a window. I created a one line script call whichscript.vbs, with only 'WScript.Echo WScript.FullName' in it.     - Change URL in XLS file Hello All, I have a directory that has several XLS files all uniquely named. In each XLS file there is a Header called URL. Under that header is a URL link that I would like to change (Example: http://rwa.squadron.com/...) in each XLS file located in that directory. Each week the only thing changing in the url would be the first part of the URL rwa would change to rwb. Next week that would change to rwc and the week after that to rwd. Is there a way to prompt the user to enter the new url and then traverse through the directory and go into each excel file and change the url to the one that was entered in by the user? In some cases, an excel file will have multiple rows with an url address, it would have to change them as well. Any and all help in this matter is greatly appreciated.     - Directory Listing I have developed a routine which prepares a directory listing for a specific folder and save this information into a text file. This text file would be used to send the required files via SFTP to a unix server. My problem is that the case of the file name changes to lower case. For example, the file name would appear in the folder as OPICS_Greeks.txt but would appears as opics_greeks.txt in the text file. How can I retain the original file name structure in the text file? Is there a script (VB, WSH, etc) that could be used to delete all local accounts on the machine except for the builtin Windows accounts (as well as any ASP.net accounts) and the account of the user who is currently logged in. I know that I could figure out the account of the the currently logged in user by using the %username% environment variable. I was thinking of the Addusers.exe utility in the Server Resource Kit, but I'm not sure that it will work for my needs. What we're trying to eliminate is any users who may have created local "back door" accounts while they were administrators of their PCs. One of the things i get is a windows username, wich is written DOMAIN\username. The problem is the backslash that needs to be escaped. This can be done using replace. Replace("DOAMIN\username","\","\\") works just fine. But, the script is using a variable, so its not DOMAIN\username but UserName(i) wich is running in a loop. replace(UserName(i),"\","\\") gives me "Invalid use of NULL: 'replace'" replace("UserName(i)","\","\\") gives me UserName(i) everywhere. If I move it outside the class, it DOES get called, surprisingly enough, even though the object is declared and initialized inside the class. If microsoft wanted scripters to be calling api's from script, then they would have built that capability into the scripting engine. And besides, isn't there already a DynaWrap utility for those who would dare to trespass outside the boundaries of accepted scripting norms? True... However, (for the sake of completeness?), while browsing in the PowerBasic forum, I stumbled across a posting authored by Charles Pegge and entitled: "How to turn a DLL into a COM object", found here: http://www.powerbasic.com/support/pbforums/showthread.php?s=69fab519eedc80eb6974c2c9ba8c881b&t=28421&highlight=comfordll That sounded intriguing. And it was. What you get is some powerbasic source code, a dll and a typelib. You register the dll (and the typelib) with the provided bat file. Then you run the script, which will interface with a "standard" dll (also provided). It all works like "a charm" (any win98 users, see the postscript). The implication is that if "COMforDLL" will work with a standard dll, then it will work with any standard system dll as well. What was intriguing to me was the notion that you could write a com component in powerbasic, whereas the conventional wisdom is that microsoft vb or c++ (and templates) are necessary. The "basic" source code provided, (if you take the time to read it), looks just like c++ code albeit written in basic. In other words, it is more-or-less c++ code rendered into the basic language. If nothing else, it is helpful to understand if one eventually wished to go from vb to c++ in order to write some actX objects which don't render very well into vb. My first attempt to register the COMforDLL dll and typelib with the win98 regsvr32.exe failed. How revolting! I took the package over to a nearby winXP system and it worked perfectly. And so, I thought that maybe I could get COMforDLL to work with win98 if I manually copied the winXP registry entries and took them back to win98. So I exported the entries from winXP and loaded them into the win98 registry. VOILA! Now the COMforDLL works successfully on win98 too.     - restart a process in XP .. Hi there, I'm not a programmer and would really appricate some help here. I need a VB script to get the PID of a running process from the name and then kill it and/or restart it. I read about taskkill, but that opens a DOS box and requires the name of the process, the PID of which changes.
