    - create and send email with attachments I'm trying to create and send an email of a report that is generated earlier in a vbscript file, and I have been successful in generating and sending the email, but when I try to add an attachment, it gives me an error message saying the CDO.Message object does not support the method "AddAttachment".     - Question regarding New User Creation Script Hello Everybody, I wonder if someone can help with the questions I have. I have a Citrix Server which is a member of an NT4 domain which in turn trusts and AD Domain. My administrators access the citrix server to manage both the NT4 domain and the AD Domain. However if my users use the VBScript I have created to create user accounts they can only create accounts on the NT4 domain and not the AD domain. If they run the script directly on a server which is a member of the AD domain then it works fine and creates accounts on the AD domain. (I am unsure if it successfully creates accounts on the NT4 Domain from the AD Domain as I have not tested this yet.) Does anyone know if there are restrictions in place preventing a script from creating user accounts on Multiple different domains from one domain and if so does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I delete all files in the starting folder and it's subfolders after 14 days. Today however I had a request to keep files in one folder and it's subfolders (say folder xyz and it's sub-folders) for 5 months.     - WMI StopService Anyone know about the error codes for Win32_Service StopService? I'm getting error 4 when trying to stop some services. The description of that error is "Invalid Service Control", which tells me nothing. I'm trying to figure out what actually causes error 4. (I asked in the WMI group but it seems to be rather sleepy over there, with little activity.) Running as only user, with full control, on XP.     - Reading input file I have what seems to be a very simple issue in a script that I am writing. The first line in an input file that I'm reading is an arbitrary number, and every line after that is the meat of the input file. An example of the log file would look like this: 12345 cf,http://dev.sheeltest.org/sys2/objFolder How would I read the first line and put it into a variable, and then take the next line and any subsequent lines in the input line and splits it into an array? Detailed explanation: It is possible to escape newlines in cmd.exe by ending a line with the caret (^) and then pressing the enter key twice. Thus, the following 3 lines will display foo, and on the next line it will display bar: echo foo^ bar Very nifty. What I would now like, however, is for the result of an echo, piped into more, to display foo on one line, followed by bar on the next. The following 3 lines do not work: echo foo^ bar | more more will only shows the first line, foo. What is going on is that when echo is piped into more, for reasons I have not fathomed, the command line parser runs over the command line twice (for example, there are two levels of environment variable expansion as will be seen shortly). Therefore, it would seem that I have to escape the above 3 lines once to the following 5 lines (using double caret below (^^) to escape a single caret (^) above and ^ followed by two newlines below to escape a single newline above): echo foo^^^ ^ bar | more Unfortunately, this does not work, and as before, I only get the first line showing: foo Furthermore, if the last line is only bar instead of bar | more, then the 3 line output from echo's single pass is as expected: foo^ bar Now you will be thinking, Csaba, really, you were overly optimistic thinking that the command parser would be willing to accommodate that screwy newline escaping. You should be lucky that it worked at all with echo, never mind the pipe. Well, perhaps so, but then I would expect the following 5 lines to similarly fail, but it does quite nicely, thank you very much. set nl=^ set nlm=^^^^%^nl%%^nl% echo foo%nlm%bar | more The 'echo ... | more' demonstrates the double substitution mentioned earlier. The last two lines would also work as: set nlm=^^^%nl%%nl%^%nl%%nl% echo foo%^nlm%bar | more which 2nd variant causes a single expansion on the 2nd pass. But I wonder if it is possible to avoid the expansion on the second pass, which happens in both examples. In other words, could I have an environment variable just expand on the first pass?     - Date range problem I'm have a site that will display a banner image based on the time of year. My date ranges go from: 4/1 - 6/30 7/1 - 9/30 10/1-11/30 12/1 - 3/31 My script is below. The first three ranges work fine, but the last one spans two different years. If it's 2007, the range will be 12/1/2007 - 3/31/2007. Obviously, that won't work. And, when the year changes to 2008, none of the date ranges will be true because the 12/1-3/31 range will now be 12/1/2008 - 3/31/2008. I thought about incrementing the year for 3/31 based on the current year, but if the current year is correct, I can't increment it. Suggestions? Just not sure how to go about this. Thanks!     - get value from combo box to add data to JList Hi all, I am currently trying to develop a java program which has two files loaded into it. One is for room rumbers which are listed in a combo box like RM01, RM02, RM03 etc, and the other files has the computer names which are loaded into the JList like RM01_01, RM01_02, RM02_01, RM02_02 etc. What I would like to do is when I click RM01 on the combo box the JList automatically repopulates with all the computers that start with RM01 so it would only show the computer names which are RM01_01, RM01_02 etc. I have tried this and it is not working properly. What I have got I am not sure if it is working properly as I can not anything to display inside the vector for the JList. This is what I have so far.     - Retrieve ProcessID for the running script I am able to retrieve the ProcessID for processes using the Win32_Process Class, however I am not able to retrieve the ProcessID for the script that the code is running in. I can't use the Name of the process since I have multiple wscript.exe running so the only way I can think of getting the ProcessID is by finding properties for the current script process only. I have no idea how to do this since the closest I can get is a complete list of running processes while I just need the info for the currently running script.     - Parsing a textfile and writing file properties Windows Live Mail stores each e-mail message and newsgroup posting as a textfile with a .eml or .nws extension. The filename itself is a fairly random string of hex characters, so a typical file will be called 440D491C-00000077.eml. This is not helpful if you're looking for a specific message in the file system. I'm using XPSP2. I've played around with a VBA script to do the following with a specified folder: (a) Trawl through the folder and any subfolders looking for .eml or .nws files (b) For each file found, search for data on lines starting with From:, To:, Date: and Subject: (c) Clean up the data found - eg. From: will usually be followed by something like "Joe Bloggs" <joe.bloggs@hotmail.com>. This would result in two variables - name and address. (d) Write the data found to the file properties. I've got it working up to a point, but the problems I'm facing are: (1) encoded data. Some messages have more than one of the fields mentioned encoded, as Quoted-Printable or Base64, and then there is sometimes UTF-8 on top. I've managed to cope with most of this, but not reliably (2) I seem to be limited to Summary properties, since Custom properties won't show up as columns in Explorer. So, From: becomes Author,and Subject: becomes Subject. To: I can do without. Date: becomes one of the writeable Date fields (there aren't any), so I've put it in the Comments field. Any ideas?     - Reading file from certain point Hi chaps, I need a script to search a log file (whose name is DD-MM-YYYY.log) for an error (for example "AN ERROR!"). However, even though the script rolls over each day, the files can get very large, and errors occur often. This value in turn will be used by the alerting package to fire off alerts and poke things to get it working again. Now, i've got all that working more or less (getting the date bits to auto-fill the filename is being a pain) expect for one important bit. In my script, the log file is opened and then searched line by line, and if an error is found, 1 is returned. The problem is that it restarts from line 1 each time it's fired, so basically we are always getting alerts, even for alerts we have already been told about. What I need is some way to store the last line that was checked by the script, and to start from the following line on the next check. I guess this would in turn have to save the line number to a text file and read it back when the check starts next. Any ideas how I can do the latter bit? I have created a word file from two Excel files using Mail Merge
functionality. Now, i want to create a vbScript by which i can save
the merged data as a single word file.
For example : - let say I have 1000 records in Excel sheets that using
Mail Merge now the data coming into Word file will also have 1000
records and i need to create 1000 word files using vbscript.

How can i do this? Please suggest in detail.
