    - How to submit form from VBScript & analyze with ASP Request I am used to making ASP pages with buttons that submit the form back to the asp page then analyzing the request object to determine which buttons was pressed, such as: if Request("btnSave") = "Save" then .... Now I am working in VBSCRIPT to do some client side validation: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="VBScript">  </SCRIPT> But when I do things this way, in my Server Side ASP code the Request("btnSave") is null. So how can I submit the form from my client side VBScript code and have it set the value of Request("btnSave") so I can tell in my Server Side code that the user click on save? Or is there a better way? I should note that I have a few other buttons to, like Cancel.     - script question I would like to create a script to attach to a network share, that will key in my username and password for me. My current script is actually a batch file: NET USE Y: \\192.168.0.4\APPS /PERSISTENT:NO I am then prompted for a user name and password, which I enter manually.     - Scriptable reference to particular application instance? After having no luck using GetObject (I need to differentiate between two or more already running instances of an application) I'm a little out of my depth with this code (below). It does work - in that it returns the right count - but is there any way to use the "App" variable to get a scriptable reference to the particular application instance? This is an app that is COM scriptable. I can't just open a new instance and use that: I need to add data to one of the running instances. Appreciate any assistance.     - Help with retreiving hardware information Hello, I'm trying to get this script working. Basically, it gets a list of computers from AD, then loops through them to gather hardware information (which it writes to a text file). It runs fine for the first computer, echoes its name then runs the WMI component. The problem is that after if echoes the second computer name it gets to line 43 and dies with an error. I'm really new to VB scripting, so I was hoping someone here could help be figure out what's wrong. Below is the script in question.     - AD group logon script question I'm new to scripting for an AD enviroment, so please bear with me if I'm off in my logic. What I currently have in the AD architecture is a "Test" Parent OU that contains a number of sub OU's that represent sites. These sites then contain sub OU's that represent groups, resources, etc and under the groups OU's are several OU's that represent various departments. For example purposes, the top-down heirarchy would look like the following: Test (OU) Site 1 (OU) Groups (OU) CUSTSERV (OU) My original idea was to create several different small scripts and use the GPM to assign them to various groups. I have a bunch of controls in there, including some comboboxes with the "multiple" option, so I want the user to be able to select more than one choice from those particular comboboxes. The problem is, when I try to retrieve the values using a GetValue() subroutine, where GetValue = TheForm.cboGroups.Value (this part is embedded in the html doc), it returns only the first selection.     - Problem with reference assignment / ByRef Sub / "=" operator Hello! It seems that it is not possible to assign a reference from one variable to another with the "=" operator. The "=" operator seems to always assign a value to the left variable. How can I assign the reference stored in the right variable to an other (left) variable? Let's assume that "b" is reference to an other variable (e.g. when using ByRef arguments). a = b Will not copy the reference stored in b to a, it will copy the _value_/content of the variable that is referenced by b to a. How can is copy references instead of values? I wrote a small test suite for this one: Sub TestSet( ByRef a ) Dim ref ref = a 'here a copy of the array a will be assigned to ref instead of assigning a reference ref(0) = 10 'this will change the "copy" not the initial array 'a(0) = 10 'this will change the referenced array End Sub Dim ary ary = Array(5) MsgBox ary(0) 'Will return 5 TestSet ary MsgBox ary(0) 'Should return 10.     - Stopping VB script from keeping running from scheduler I have a VB script which is supposed to run every hour. Recently the script is stucked - the scheduled task show that it's running, and i can't stop it. by "end Task" option in the scheduler. The server where the script is running is a production one and i can't restart it. The script isn't listed in the processes list. I bought my computer in April of 2001. Included with the computer was a DVD-ROM called Explore America. This DVD-ROM was developed by Rand McNally. When I first got this DVD-ROM, it ran well. However, recently, there has been a problem. There is a file on the DVD-ROM called setup.vbs This file is a VBScript file. This file is supposed to initiate the main program. However, the file is not executed. The ActiveX components in my situation come from the DVD-ROM. I should mention that, between the last time that this DVD-ROM ran successfully and now, I removed AOL 6.0 and installed AOL 8.0 Also, I have downloaded some updated Flash player and/or Shockwave player.     - I want to insert a text file into an email as opposed making it an attachment I am the network security admin for my company. I am automating the processing of my firewall syslog files to have it email the offenders abuse and security email addresses. My issue is that many abuse and security email addresses delete incoming attachments so I need to insert the syslog data as opposed to mailing it as an attachment. For the same reasons that the above addresses delete attachmants they also do not accept html or rtf emails so I can not use CreateMHTMLBody. I have created a small vbs script (run by WSH), with this single line: ' Beginning of script CreateObject "Excel.Application" ' End of script (I extracted this problematic line from another script) The operating systems I tried are Windows 2003 Server and Windows 2000 Server. This is the problem: The script should be run as scheduled task on a daily basis. I created a task to run it in Scheduled Tasks. In the "run as" section, I used the same login and password I use to login to the server with Remote Desktop Connection. When logging in to the server via Remote Desktop Connection, the script run just fine (Starts and finishes almost immediately). Also, in the Scheduled Tasks, when right-clicking on the task and selecting 'run', the task starts and finishes immediately, with no errors. However, when setting the task to run automatically, and logging out, it does not work: I waited a minute after the time it was scheduled to, returned, and saw that the process (wscript), and the EXCEL applications are still running. The task status shows 'running'. The interesting thing is that the function CreateObject has created the 'EXCEL' application, but it seems that it fails to finish.
