    - sql query error The code is below. The issue I am having is if I query the database for a specific table and if it's not created I throw the following error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server: Invalid object name 'IB_Flags' I tried catching error using err object but it does not appear to catch the description or error number. How can either check for this error or check to see if the table even exists?     - VBS network install Script I want to do an install onto another computer over the network - this script is throwing up an eror saying I don't have permissions to access the IP specified in the script. I am therefore wanting to connect as the network admin, or local admin of that PC - how do I do this?? I understand this behavior because I haven't told my script to wait till the previous command finishes. GHOST32 returns true value to my script and it then start executing PostImage.BAT Is there anyway I make the script to wait till GHOST imaging process is complete and then execute PostImage.BAT command.     - create a shortcut to network drive Hi, Wonder how to use a script to create a shortcut on user's desktop which connect them a network share folder, eg: \\server\shared I dont want to use net use commmand because it would require a drive letter. Although I can instruct user to go to my network places and use the wizzard to add a network place, however, users generall do not know how to do so, besides many user's network places are hidden by the GPO.     - Calling a file for VBscript in a bat file I'm not sure if there is a better way to do this, but the people I need to hand this off to eventually are not that technical and the batch file will make it easy for them. I could probably do four code sections in theh vbscript as well... I get an excel file from the HR system for new users and before we create them we search for duplicate IDs, account names etc. I have 4 individual vb scripts that perform the individual searches, but you have to specify the file name when you run them. I would like to call each in succession from a batch file but pass the file name only once so each line in the batch file will use the same file.     - Problem passing dictionary as argument OK, wrote a DTS package that has multiple ActiveX steps. In an early step I create and populate a dictionary object, create a new global variable on the fly and set its value to the dict, and then fetch the value from the global in later steps and use the values. It all worked fine until ... That is, it worked fine when the package was run directly under my login. When I set it to run as a job under our local sql.admin account, it failed. Huh? If I log into the system as sql.admin and run the package locally, still OK. Only when run as a job and under sql.admin does it fail (I have not tried running it as a job under another login, that isn't really an option). When I do a "set dict = DTSGlobalVariables("mydict").value", it gets *something*, if passes a "is nothing" test, but I get an error as soon as I try to reference so much as the count. Well, right now I'm busy rewriting the code around this glitch, but of course I'd rather understand it and fix it. Any help?     - Can you end a process from vb script? We use a scheduler (Control-M) to runs some VB scripts to automate some tasks in a 3rd-pary application QRM. There is a bug in QRM that when you run it via scripts, it doesn't end the process, so after the script completes, you still see qrm.exe in the process in task manager. We are currently running this on a Windows 2000 server, and it's not a problem, because Control-M reuses the same process every time, so there is always just the one process hanging around. We are moving to a Windows 2003 server, and in testing we've found that Control-M is creating a new process every time. So we end up with 20 qrm.exe process and we have to manually delete them. In evaluating our options, it looks like the easiest thing to do is to write a simple script or app that will kill the processes, and automate that to run every day.     - Allow user to run application as a power user Hello, I have an application that I am distributing with SMS. The problem that I am having is that the application, now on the target machine, requires power user or admin privledges to run. I can run the application via sms in the system context, but that will not help, since the app configures the user's environment. So unless someone knows of an easier solution, I need to run a script, in the system context that makes the current logged on user a member of the local power users group, if they are not already a member of that group or the admins group and then run the application under the user's context. Finally, after the application is complete, the script, under the system context again, would then revert the user back to his former permission level, i.e., return user to former group memberships. I don't think that this can be done with one script, because of the context issues. But, since I am using SMS, I can use three different scripts and chain them together. 1. Promote the current logged in user to a member of the local power users group, if needed. 2. Run the application under the user's context. 3. Demote the current logged in user back to his original group memberships. Since we don't normally allow membership in the power users group, I guess it would be ok to specifically remove the user from the power users, but if, in the future, we did allow permanent power users, this approach could cause problems. Another concern is security. I realize that during the period between the first and third scripts that the user could exploit the elevated privledges. Worse yet, they could kill the process before the third script can run, which would leave them in the elevated state. Unfortunately, I am really just learning to script, so the details are currently beyond me. I am not sure if these scripts should be in VB or not. I can easily create desktop shortcuts to folders/files programmatically, but how can I do the same for objects such as "Local Area Connection" and "Dial-Up xxx"?     - Logon script & Citrix Metaframe. Hi. Hope this is the right forum for this problem. We have a logon script in our AD enviroment which runs in IE shell. Now when users try to logon to Citrix Metaframe there's only cscript window but nothing happens. The cscript window stays there as long as you want to watch it. When you close it you are able to log on normally. If I change the default script host to wscript.exe the script will never load and the user cannot log on to metaframe. Normally that script is run by wscript (without metaframe). I have looked that when the script is run that wscript.exe and iexplore.exe processes start ok. Now if I test logon with administrator rights the script loads and runs fine with both cscript and wscript. Metaframe "Power Users" experience the same problem. Hmm.. I tested this script and it works fine: wscript.echo "I suck 'cause I can't get it work :(" I don't know what would be the best solution, but could I run a different script in terminal sessions?
