    - Newbie question - printer selection from HTML If I want to make sure an HTML document gets printed to a specific MS Windows printer, no matter what the default printer is, can I? Basically (rewording), is it possible to select a known MS Windows printer via VBScript in an HTML document? If so, how? As added explanation, the HTML document is being created on the fly from information in a database and the VBScript would be included in the HTML code. The purpose for the document is to print generated information to a specific printer, no matter what printer is default. The entire process is automated: the document generation, printer selection, form printing and document closing. Best yet, the entire process should be done minimized to the taskbar so the user is not watching a lot of stuff show up on his desktop and then disappear! I am not a VB programmer, nor into VBScript. I am especially not into ActiveX. I am a long time programmer with a certain legacy database that is now trying to co-exist (the database that is) with current technology. The script also sends e-mails when its completed. When I run the script below it works until it hits a file name that has an apostrophe in it. I've tried putting quotes around it but that didn't work? The Network.EnumPrinterConnections seems to only return the printer device name, which is not the share name.     - Problem in ActiveX event for Explorer New Window I've a problem with an application that uses Internet Explorer, an ActiveX Ocx hosted on the page and some VB script code to manage the Ocx events. If my page opens in a new instance of Internet Explorer it works If I place an anchor on another page and set my page as the href it works If I do the same but specify also a target="_blank" for the anchor all the events are not fired from the page. I suppose is some sort of security problem, but I cannot find any reference around. I've also tried to use window.open instead of target but it does not work, it seems that if you open a new window, regardless of how you do it, Ocx events for VBScript code stops firing. Any idea? Hi I have a combo box, when the program opens the text in it i highlighted and can be deleted, if I pick an item from the dropdow list this is also highlited and the cursor is flashing next to it What I am after is how do you disable this feature because if I us "Enable = False " it becomes unusable I have used key trapping to not allow anything to be typed in but want to get rid of the highlighting and the cursor.     - Create Shortcuts to a bunch of files Howdy folks! I have a situation where I need to create individual shortcuts to a bunch of files that exist in "c:\program files\personal communications\private". The files are *.WS and *.BCH. Now I know it's easy enough to create a shortcut on the desktop to a known .exe or file. But the problem I have is that these .ws and .bch files have different names on each PC. And need I to automate this for around 2500 pc's. I was thinking something along the lines of using the FileSystem object to read the names of all the .ws and .bch files, and then use Shell.CreateShortcut to create shortcuts to these files on the desktop. Problem is, I know just enough VBScript to be dangerous, but not enough to solve the problem here. I have the basics done but I have one problem that I can't seem to find an answer for. When the script encounters a file that is currently locked by another process it errors out.     - Copy file from local pc to network share on logon Hi all, We are performing an upgrade on some software here, and our vendor is requiring copies of a file from all the desktops in our org. What I am trying to do, is copy a file located on the c: drive to a share on the network, placing it in a folder created by their username. So far, I've come up with this, but it warns me that there isn't space there, only there is. Is this because it is a network share, and can't determine if there is space avail?     - Permission Denied Renaming a Folder Hey all, thanks for your help in advance. I can't seem to figure this one out. Im writing a script that will delete specific files from a folder and then rename the folder. I incorporated drag and drop functionality into the script and also made a right click context menu to run the script using windows explorer. The script works when dragging the folder onto the script, but gets stuck renaming the folder when using a right click in explorer and running the script from a context menu. I originally thought it was because I was browsed to the folder, so I made trap by asking the user to click off of the folder and then click ok to resume the script but it still didn't work. The script is being run off of my local hard drive and I have permissions to change/delete etc. I'm stuck. The only thing I can think of is that when deleting or "getting" the folder using "fso.getfolder" I am grabbing the folder and not allowing it to be renamed...but then I wonder why does it work when I drag the folder instead of using the context menu? The context menu works with many other scripts I wrote. I'm stuck. I hope you can help me out. Because I have 1 page open with a "found patient" (again it's stored in the cookie) and I can click on my QuickLauch bar and open up another instance of IE, goto my webpage and the same webpage and when it reads the cookie it's empty. So this tells me that I can have multiple versions of IE that has their own cookie. I also added a response.write(Session.SessionID) and both values are different. So opening another instance of IE via my quick launch toolbar creates a new session with its own cookie values. Now I am trying to figure out how to have a link or button that will open another IE window and not have it share the cookie (make a new session). I tried using a hyperlink with a target of _blank. But when I do that and analyze the above cookie value, it is already set. And the Session.SessionID is the same.     - Quering AD object attributes with ADO and vbscript Wanted to do vbscript which uses ADO to search objects and put some attributes to array. Something like that - GetObjectAttributes(ADLocation, Attributes, ObjectClass). All was fine till I wanted to get Computers description. Searched the net, found out that it wasn't single-value attribute and solved the problem. Then wanted to get Lastlogon attribute. Again got error, althought the Vbscript returned same VarType as for Description(Type - 12), but after that variable wasn't array but object. Solved it again but wanted to know, if there is/anyone has written a script that returns any attribute value and converts it to string. I think I may have originally mis-posted this message to the wrong newgroup Does anyone know if I could replace the "Shut Down..." button in the Start menu with a my own shortcut that points to a VBScript that will restart the computer?
