    - Delete Local Profiles for WinPe I am trying to delete the local profiles on my computer. However, whenever I try to delete a users profiles under C:\Users\* on my Vista machine, my script fails. It seems to be that it can't some of the special folders in C:\Users\*\AppData. For example, my script always fails on C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Application Data. This appears to be a redirector but my script sees it as a folder and tries to delete it. I have spent many hours trying to get around this but every time my script fails with an Access Denied error. I have used WMI and the FileSystemObject.     - Backing up files with vbscript and maybe Volume Shadow Copy Hello, I'm looking to write a small vbscript to backup a laptop users PST files to a network drive. I would like this to happen without the need for a user to close Outlook. I have read a little about Volume Shadow Copy and I'm wondering if this is the best thing to use and how you can control it from Vbscript / Windows XP.     - Move file if created in last two minutes I have an application which writes a txt file to a certain directory. The application writes to this file twice using the logged in users credentials, in quick succession. Once this process is finished I need to retrict access to the file by the creator. Two options spring to mind:- 1. Restrict the directory and change the file owner once the application has completed 2. Move the finished file to a directory the creator does not have access to. Option 2 seems the simplest if I can script to check file creation date is more than say 2 minutes older than current system time.     - Replacing single apostrophe (') with two single quotes ('') I am using RC wintrans as the software to localize our company`s software. To localize the strings being used in our software i export all the strings with their string IDs to an excel file and send them for translation. Now when i try to import the translation back into the DB of RC wintrans, excel does not return the strings starting with single quote ' , hence the translation of such strings are not imported automatically into RC wintrans. I would like to write a script, which searches through the strings in the excel file and replace every string starting with single quote ' with two single quotes '' ( remind you its not double quote but two single quotes).     - Setting FileSystem & Service Permissions on logon I have prepared .NET 2.0 Desktop App for my college library. My college System Admin set-up the library network with Windows 2003 server & XP clients, and has handed over its responsibilities to me. I have some experience with Active Directory & Group Policies, but I'm not an Admin. I have set-up OUs & appropriate Group Policies for various clients. I am looking for help in 2 specific areas: 1) First, each client has a varying number of hard-disk partitions. Active Directory Group Policy allows me to restrict access to either A,B,C,D or all drives. Some of these clients have up-to 6-7 partitions & I need to restrict access to some of them depending upon the Login. I did not see a direct way to do it. The only solution I see are Login scripts. Is there any other way to deny access to a partition depending upon who is logging in (for drive letters such as E & F). If I need to use scripts, can someone provide me a sample script to deny access to say F: for users in OPAC organizational unit. 2) The second thing is Service. Some clients have Sql Express installed for local use. Again, I need to start-up Sql Service only if OPAC user is logging in. The VB script is driving an IE application â?? and the IE application creates a new IE browser.     - help with loops Hello everyone, I am after some help from more experienced programmers. I have used other scripts as examples from here and ones i have found on google. The script I have provided below is quite basic, but at this stage I am having some issues with my looping code. When I ask the user for a Blue or Red team name with an Input box they are presented with an OK and a cancel box. A cancel exits the script, however how do I loop a cancel to then loop all the way to the top of the script so they now seeing the Msgbox asking again if they are part of blue or red team with a Yes or No response ? I'm using Xcacls.vbs to enumerate the directory permissions on a remote server. http://www.jsifaq.com/SF/Tips/Tip.aspx?id=8225 If you look at the example output in the above website, you'll see the various columns; Type, Username, Permissions and Inheritance. The problem I'm seeing is that if an entry in the Username column has too many characters, it is being cut off. Im actually using C# to code but can understand VBScript/WMI scripting so
