    - Reading a log file being written to by another process Hi, I want to write a script that will read and parse a text log file for errors. The log file is being written to by another process, so grows as events occur. Rather than open it for read and reparse it each time, what options do I have to optimize it so I don't have to re-parse the whole thing every time? It is time stamped, so remembering that and reading each line until I find it again is an option, but seems clunky. Using ADO streams looks more interesting, given the ".position" method, but I gather I need to read the whole file into memory to use that. Any other bright ideas here?     - DataBase error Hi all Ok so i have two databases on my ISP server. One is the working one and the other is a backup. They are named "Data.mdb and DataBackup.mdb" I have updated the Data.mdb database on my local PC and uploaded it to the server. Now i get this error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query. It works on my local PC using ISS without any errors and it updates without faults. If i use the DataBackup.mdb database on the server it works fine. The only thing I did was remove 23 recorders. I am trying doing the follow : Insert into mytable(col1, col2, col3, col4, ... col10) values(@par1, @par2, @par3, @par4, ... @par10) I have notice that the row is not inserted as I wish to, and columnt : col9 i.e is set to parameter : par5 (and not to par9 respectively).     - 'rundll32.exe - Invalid Current Directory' message generated by login script SFLogin.vbs runs from an NT4 server at user login (netlogon.bat serves as a stub loader that calls SFLogin.bat). When SFLogin.bat attempts to run an .exe, sometimes NT4 Workstation hosts get this error: "Rundll32.exe - Invalid Current Directory. The process cannot switch to the startup directory to c:\winnt. Select OK to set current directory to c:\winnt, or select cancel to exit." Would anybody have a general explanation as to why this is happening? That is: does this have something to do with a "working directory?" What is a working directory? What is a current directory? When netlogon.bat calls SFLogin.vbs, what's going on? What's happening when SFLogin.vbs calls another .exe? Do these processes run on the server, or on the client? Hopefully a general explanation will help me figure out instances of this error. I have gather some loggings of arcserve from several of our shop-servers in one 500k csvfile. I tried working with Excel (also with vbscript) and it worked: importing. The spreadsheet was some 5000 rows. I wanted to use autofilter to make a few selections, BUT the autofilter-function works only with appr. 2700 rows, so I had to find another way to Display de loggings... Problem is that when I use the below code, the ProviderName property is Null (supposed to be a string of where drive is mapped to). BTW, I'm using XP on an AD domain.     - Active Directory User Login Script Path Hi, I'm tryng to incorporate an AD script I run nightly to list out what user has what login script. When I refer to the obj.Fields("scriptPath") within AD I get: Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal. Now what I'm trying to figure out is how to get those users to "shuffle" themselves into one of thirty OU's under the users. I manage to retrieve the value of my CLOB field by using the GetChunk (the value is an HTML code). My problem is that each time, the first 6 or 7 characters of my code are missing (but when looking directly in the DB, I see that the HTML codes in my table are fine). if I am not wrong, perhaps your Group Policy has blocked that.

Try adding wscript.exe under

Non-local Group Policy-User Configuration-System-Run only allowed
Windows Application (with Apply Group Policy set)
