 - executing scripts I have two scripts, perhaps not programmed the most efficient way, but anyways they work. How do i put this into one script, right now i need to execute them seperately, how do i say when script1 is finnished goto script 2 ? Normally everything works just fine, but every once in a while, I get an error message indicating Outlook could not find the attached file for ".Attachments.add" I'm assuming the reason is Distiller had not yet released the file. I'd like to trap the error message and create a loop which would pause 1 sec, then issue another ".Attachment.add" command exiting the loop when no error was returned or after 10 tries.  - cookies issue Hi, I have an application that when it loads, it checks for a cookie on the client side. If the cookie exists, it sets a variable on the specific ASP page for certain fields to be populated. Our problem is that some user sessions have data left over in cookies that are from a previous user session. Anyone ever have this problem.  - how do I keep double quotes in parameters to cscript? I need to call a iis script file to set up an application extension in the webserver. The call must go through cscript. So the resulting structure is: cscript myvbscript <myparameters> <myparametrs> is something like python.exe "%s" When I execute this it turns out that myvbscript gets the parameters with the double quotes stripped off. It does not help to double up the quotes either.  - NT Domain: All objects of class User I'm writing a script to pull data from both Active Directory and NT4 Domains. The Active Directory code works just fine, and the NT4 code works great except for one thing. I'm probably just overlooking something, but all of my objects are of class User. Is there a way to tell Groups, Users, and Computers apart Under Active Directory I'm doing this with the objMember.objectCategory property. I don't think that NT4 Domains support this (at least it gave me an error). The objMember.class is what is returning "User" to me every time Any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated.  - Reading excel using vbscript Hello I am trying to read an xls through vbscript. There is a small problem though. A column contains some numbers e.g. 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444 etc and also some alphanumeric characters like C2323, C3434 and so on. - one below the other (different rows When I run my query, I get all the numbers displayed properly, but the rows in which there are alphanumeric characters, a null value is returned and I am not able to work on that value at all (since that value is lost) Could someone please assist...  - Call script from within another script fails Hello, I have two scripts that run correctly by themselves but when I call the second from within the first the process does not occur. I cannot read the error - the cmd box goes away too quickly. The first script will be called from the user logon script. The second will be run with elevated privileges and is called by the first. As I said above, each run correctly alone but fail when run together. When these scripts are run together, the process gets to the first message box in the second script then fails. I have marked with a row of "+" signs where the second script fails. I have run this script as a domain admin, local admin and reqular user. I have pasted the scripts below.  - Help with skipping files I am writing a script to read through CSV files. The files contain 5 fields that I then parse and use to create some shortcuts on the START menu. I want to be able to have 1 script that reads through the files and adds the icons accordingly. And so far it works great. My problem is this: Not all the CSV files will be readable by all users. I hope to create several CSV files, and give only file rights to read for the users/groups that will require those shortcuts. For example: I will have a menu-common.csv file that will have shortcuts for all users. I then want one for HR, admin, receiving, shipping... to have their shortcuts. My current script is set to read them both. But if I run it as a user that does not have rights to read a CSV (like HR's CSV), the script just loops and never ends. Is there a way to set it so if it cannot read the CSV file, it will just go down the list to the next CSV? Like "On Error Goto Next Section" command.  - Determine logon and logoffs from which workstations Any ideas how I can script determining the last workstation a user has logged onto and logged off of? I know logins can be retrieved from AD with userstat.exe, but this does not tell me the location of the logons, nor if/when they logged off. I've also looked into parsing event logs, but events 538 and 540 did not contain workstation data, (even though there was a parameter for workstation, it was blank). Event 528 did contain the workstations, but there are not nearly as many 528's as there are 538. Any other ideas? Surely someone has done this already!!! I am working on a script that is taking information from a database with no line breaks and passing the information through this function that I have designed to put line breaks in near a certain column size. The ultimate destination for the text is a text file. When I run this code on a piece of text with carriage returns already in it the function outputs little boxes or NewLine control chars wherever a new line needs to happen. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of those little boxes?  - File System Object network overhead I have a vbscript that looks through a folder structure for the most recently updated file. I noticed that when I point it at a network folder (\\server\folder) it does quite a bit more network I/O than I would expect. No big deal when I'm at work, on our 100Mb ethernet, but dialing in from home it becomes v e r y s l o w. When I go to a DOS prompt and use "dir /s" to display the same folders, it's much quicker (less network I/O). Is this just the way it is with the FileSystemObject? I'm ready to rewrite my folder access to attach the desired folder as a drive, and use the DOS DIR command to get the info I want.  - Connection Errors Hey group. I'm having a problem with a script I'm writing. I'm writing a script to use a net use command, map a drive, connect to this mapped drive, and do a couple things. The script runs fine up to and including the net use command. After that though, it doesnt work; bascally I don't have permissions (with the script) to go to the newly mapped drive (the account I am using to run it is a domain admin). For testing purposes, I'm only trying to connect to one box. I have tried for days to get the images to display. The examples from the books have not worked.  - Problem with UTF-8 and Server.URLEncode Hi I'm usin Windows 2000 Advanced Serve Service Pack IIS 5. Charset UTF- Codepage= 6500 I have a problem when using the method Server.URLEncode. It converts for instance the character "Ã?" to D6(hexadecimal), but according to the ASCII-table(Extended ASCII codes) the value should be 99(hexadecimal). When I then use the method Request.QueryString the value is corrupt. I am aware of the Knowledge Base article 294831, but the service pack seems to make no difference in this case.
