    - For Loop Problem I'm trying to loop from 1 to 3 and copy server files to local pc. I don't have any problems with FSO, but I think my script isn't executing the copying because of the below line. I'm trying to concatenate my counter variable i to the folder_source and file_source.     - Browse for folder in HTML I'm using the browseforfolder method to get a folder path for a client-side HTML page, but I'm getting permission denied when creating shell.application.     - Remote shutdown mystery I use a .bat file to do remote restarts on 40 lab PCs running WinXP pro sp2 on a W2k3 AD domain. The .bat file contains one line for each PC as follows ('xxx' represents ip segment): shutdown -r -m \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -t 0 Most of the time this works fine and all 40 machines reboot without problem. However, once in awhile (maybe 20% of the time), the .bat file gets stuck on a PC (not always the same one). When this happens, it waits for about a minute before proceeding with the remaining PCs in the .bat file. Because it happens to different PCs and not all of the time, this is nearly impossible to troubleshoot. Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening?     - Fehler mit dem FSO - Objekt Hallo Newsgroup, ich weiß dass ich hier eigentlich nicht ganz richtig bin, aber vielleicht kann mir trotzdem jemand helfen. Ich möchte mit Hilfe von HTML und VBS meinen eigenen kleinen Pseudoexplorer schreiben, mit dem ich besser arbeiten kann. Hierzu benutze ich das VBS - Objekt "Scripting.FileSystemObject" ... (Gibt es das in Java Script auch ... ich kann nämlich kein JS) Ich kann Dateien auslesen. Ich kann auch Dateien löschen.     - Change a shared folder path? I have about 300 shared folders that I need to have the path changed because we the folders are getting moved to another drive. I can list and create shares, but cannot figure out how to change the path of an existing share. I get an error when I try to change it.     - Reset password I'm trying to make a script so that the members of our helpdesk can reset users passwords without have ADUC. Not easy for a rookie such as myself. I would have thought there would be a ton of utilites / scripts out there to do this in AD?? I did find one script online by Brian Anderson but it doesn't seem to work correctly and so far my lame attempts to fix it aren't helping! I don't need anything fancy except I would like it to be as "easy and foolproof" as possible! Heck, even a premade utility like those available for Novell would be fine.     - delete 'old' *.XXX files Hi, I'm looking for a script that: deletes *.xxx files that are older then Y days. I have seen a couple of scripts that delete 'old' files in a specific folder, but my script should only delete a very specific extention in a specific folder + all subfolders. Example:It should be capable of deleting all *.ver files located in c:\test \ and all subfolders, only if they are older then 14 days. I'm not familiar with VBscript, but I still want to use it, because it could be modified very easily when using constants in the beginning for the folder and the extention. Any idea?     - Reading Reults of txt file - and then... I am using FSO to read a XML file, using the ReadAll method. I have a couple of questions. First how does an XML file appear to wsh? Is it one silgle line like in Notepad or is there several lines like when displayed in IE? If it is seperate lines I can use the readline to get what I need, if it is diplayed with no CR's then I don't think that method will work. I am using ReadAll and I can find the data I want but then if the data is found I need to then read data before it, as an example: <services>test</services> Is what I am looking for first, and if this text exists I then need to go backwards and look for <process>ten</process>. The data length between these two can vary for each instance within the file, where some other data may be <asdf>fkjshdfkjhksjdfh</asdf> for one instance, and for another it may be <asd>adf</asd>. A macro in Outlook that will send to a comma delimited file some identifier ("Name") of each window in Outlook that I open, and each Outlook window's "Start Time" and "End Time". My scripting question: I cannot figure out why the script below does not delete the shortcut files in the directory: "C:\Documents and Settings\marxp\Recent". In 2 different places, the script tries to delete a shortcut file in "C:\Documents and Settings\marxp\Recent", after the script successfully copies the shortcut file to another directory, but the attempts to delete fail.     - Delete part of the SYSTEM Path Environment Variable Hi, I am trying to delete part of the Path statement in evironment variables on XP and 2000 boxes. If for example, I have a machine that has the value C:\temp1 included in the SYSTEM path statement, I would like to delete it without affecting the rest of the Evironment line. I know the best way is to Read the Registry under SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment (PATH) and then to do a compare....change the text and pop it back in.     - kill pernicious processes? Our family computer still gets adware and other crap on it from time to time, despite my best efforts in using Norton, Adaware, Spybot, and CWShredder; and avoiding the use of Internet Explorer in favour of Firefox; and creating separate accounts for each user; and restricting permission to install software... it seems I just can't monitor everything every user does. Some of this stuff my various cleaners and checkers do not seem able to fix, and one type is particularly nasty: the type where two programs operate in tandem, each making sure that the other is present and running, so I can't kill the two processes fast enough via task manager to prevent one from re-creating the other. (AdTools is an example of this. Is there a word for this kind of program pair? "Twin Bootstrap", or something?) But I need to do something because these adwares aren't just annoying and don't merely slow down my machine; they're buggy and frequently launch hundreds of copies of themselves, thus taking CPU usage to 100% and locking it up. I can program in VBScript, somewhat....enough to run simple tasks or to read an HTML form and launch programs. Is it feasible to write a program that can kill these "Twin Bootstraps" faster than they can bootstrap each other? If I could get hold of a ps.vbs for WinXP? Could I have this program running all the time, or would that eat up my CPU as well? Or would I just be heading down the wrong road altogether? I know that there is often a third component of these twins whose job is to redownload the adware if it discovers that they're gone, and it can be hard to find this third process in the process list. But I figure if I can kill the main culprits whenever they fire up, I can hold the nasties at bay until the next update to Adaware etc. is able to deal with them properly.     - remote permissions What are the minimum permissions a user would need to remotely restart a service using vbs? Of course everything works great if the user is a local administrator on the remote machine, but that would go outside the parameters of the task. I have given the user power user membership as well as full rights to the Root namespace and all subnamespaces on the remote machine ... but with no luck. The remote machine is a Windows 2000 Server SP3 The funny thing is that power user rights allows remote connection and service restart using "Computer Management" console, but once again this falls out of the tasks parameters for a one button remote service restart.     - Quick Debugging question I'm doing some ASP based work for the first time and I used the tutorial on MSDN found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnasp/html/asptutorial.asp Specifically the Create A Guestbook code. I changed it a little bit so that the database was keeping the information I wanted, and my server gave me an error saying that there was an "Undertermined String Constant" (Go here to see my error http://64.178.102.157/numbers/input.asp). I checked the work I did and didn't see anything wrong, then went back and check the tutorial. I got the same error when I did the tutorial without modifying it, so something must be wrong with it. I don't know if there is or not but if you have access to the AD schema
snapin you can look for yourself.

Well i checked the schema and only the following are mandatory:
sAMAccountName, objectSid, cn, objectClass, objectCategory,
ntSecurityDescriptor, instanceType.

I don't know if the information i want is in the ntSecurityDescriptor.
Is there anyother way i can find out which user created the computer
account?
