    - WMI in CMDLINES.TXT Hi all, I have developed a SOE for W2k3 SP1, it runs via WinPE. I need to use a vbs script when CmdLines.txt is running so I can use the vbs command: "GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!" line to work I know this will not work as WMI isn't supported when this VBS is run. (excuted from cmdlines.txt). I know that Win. Server 2003 first-run OS follows the same (or Close) stripped-down core pattern as WinPE. However, If I can get WinPE to support WMI, then is there a method for getting WMI supported when the CMDlines is excuted Is there a work-around?     - Scripting the Word organization chart. Hi, Has anyone had any experience in scripting the organization chart in word or Excel. I know the version in Office XP/2003 is an instance of the Shapes object (as opposed to the org chart 2.0 in older versions) and I have a working VBA macro to manipulate the chart taken from MSDN but I haven't been able to find a VBscript to do the same thing.     - mass rename part duex Sorry about multiple post, and I think I made it worse by trying to explain in multiple replies (please forgive me) Here is the jist of the issue I need to take a bunch of files and be able to combine them into one (append.dat) file (this will hold all the data from all the previous files) These files need to be entered into the append.dat oldest first, then removed, leaving only the append.dat file with all the information in one file... I am stuck and need assistance please. This is what I have so far... (1) it does not remove files, (2) it does not add the oldest first (3) and it adds all the files including the script and append.dat into the append.dat if ran more than once....     - help with mass file rename I have been battling this and can not come up with the right commands to do the following (1) rename files so it renames unknown files to the same prefix. example rename $123432.000 to test.000 (2) also it would rename files to different extention based on time stamp so 124432.000 (8am) would equal test.000 $124532avf.000 (9am) would be test.001 and so on.. test.000 test.001 test.002 (3) This should run everytime a file is added to the folder or at specified time. (4) This should also work to use the lowest .00x extention that is available. so .000 then .001, .002, .003 and so on for every file added.     - Connect to acces database with .vbs Hello, does anyone know how to connect to a acces database. For testing purpose I created an access db that is located on my desktop. I'd like to connect to and edit the table.     - VBScript to Rename Files Hello everyone, I am trying to find a way to rename files that get loaded onto a server every night based upon other files that get uploaded with them. For example some of the files we get are as follows - r29-dcom.txt, arr56r29.xfr r15-dcom.txt, arr22r15.xfr Now I need to rename the r29-dcom.txt and r15-dcom.txt files to have the number that the XFR files has. So after renaming them I would end up with the following. r29-dcom56.txt, arr56r29.xfr r15-dcom22.txt, arr22r15.xfr There are quite a few files that I have to do this for on an on going basis and I need a way to speed it. The big issue is that the number in the arr56r29.xfr will increment everyday until it reaches 00 and then start again, so tomorrow would be arr57r29.xfr. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I might be able to write the current date format in the 2nd part as mm/dd/yyyy using a variable of sorts?     - Hightlight a phrase with replace() Hi, I am building a search enginee and I would like to hightlight the keywords or phrase in the search similiar to Google. For one or several keywords are no problem. They are loaded into an array and iterate through with a replace(str, keyword, "<b>" & keyword & "</b>").     - Bug? Date functions get day & month wrong Hi all, I am using the regional date time settings as English(Australian). That means that my date settings will always display as day/month/year I have an app which I'm entering a date. It's written in VB. When I intercept my field after its been entered and use VBScript to display a msgbox to screen I get funny results which seem to be a VB Script bug. I enter 11/01/2006 (which means in my lingo 11th Jan 2006) I then display msgbox DAY(myfield) & MONTHNAME(Month(myfield)) & YEAR(myfield) and lo I get "1Nov2006". I can also use MSGBOX FormatDateTime(myfield,1) and get Wednesday, 1 November 2006 Clearly they are wrong. I need to get, respectively 11Jan2006 and Wednesday 11 January 2006. HOWEVER!!! As soon as the first two characters of my date are 13 or more then it understands correctly what my date is - that's because there's no months greater than 13 so I guess it's assuming that I need the format changed to d/m/y. I've googled and haven't came up with anything that relates to VBS, only VBA.     - Sql query via a form button on a web page. Hi, I have an area of web page that I do query to display display some information. It is basically a Select statement to display everything in the table, which loops around till everything is displayed. That works fine and dandy.     - Terminating a script / Content missing from MSDN page I'm trying to terminate a process on my local PC using WMI's .ProcessTerminate method. It's returning a value of 2 ("Access Denied"). I can kill the same process from Task Manager without difficulty. I searched MSDN for this situation and came up with the following page: "Terminate Method of the Win32_Process Class" (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmisdk/wmi/terminate_method_in_class_win32_process.asp). This page mentions enabling the SeDebugPrivilege privilege through VBScript to get around this error; however, the the VBScript code that would illustrate how to enable the SeDebugPrivilege privilege seems to be missing from the page!     - Remote Code Execution I'm in a Windows AD environment that isn't very conducive to running startup scripts to achieve my goal. What I am trying to do is copy a vbs script to a remote client machine, and then execute that script on that machine using my credentials. The script itself, when manually run on a client works perfectly. What I can't get to work is the remote execution of the script.     - Restart script for domain users Hi folks, I'm trying to write a script (still not sure it is the best option though) to allow our end users to restart their PCs each night. Here is our scenario: -users do not have access to the command prompt (blocked by GP) -users do not have access to shutdown or restart the computers (blocked by GP) -users do not have admin rights -we want user's to reboot their systems every night without having the option to shut the machine off Now here are the two options I think we have, I would prefer the first but I'm working on the second at the moment: 1) Use group policy to bock access to Shutdown but allow access to Restart. Alternatively we could do this by a reg hack but I don't have any clue how to do it either way. 2) Create a script that we can place on each user's Start Menu to reboot the computer. This script would need to run with elevated privileges (we have an account we can use which has access to reboot the workstations). I'm really new to scripting so I'm kind of fumbling my way along here but I have managed to write a script (with help from a couple sites) that reboots a test workstation using alternate credentials but the command prompt is not blocked on that system. When I do block it, the script doesn't work - says action blocked by policy. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can go about doing this? Now my second question on this script. As I need to embed the username and password in the file, is there any way to prevent users from being able to view this account information (we have a couple savvy folks). And my last question (I promise) - when I double-click on the script while logged in as a regular user (not power user) it doesn't work but if I launch it from a command prompt it does. When I double click on it as administrator it works with no problems. How do I get around this? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!! A .vbs script is allready working and this script works in an html application too. A Windows security update that Microsoft released six months ago blocks
access to the contents of HTML Help files that you download from the
Internet or store on a network drive. For instructions on how to
unblock a downloaded file, see this article in the Microsoft Knowledge
