    - Help with Logon script error Below is a logon script that I've basically put together from various other examples. The intention of the script is to map a set of common drives for my users. The script should check to see if a drive mapping already exist, if so, then remove it, then map the drive letter back to what I want. I kow/think that part of it is an attempt to handle persistent drive letters in Explorer where even after disconnecting the drive,it still appears in "My Computer" When I run the script I get the following error: Line: 11 Char: 1 Error: object required 'objFSO' Can anyone help?     - Modifying HKCU or HKU subkey that has been restricted Does anybody have an idea on how to edit the HKCU or HKU part of the registry? Here is my problem. We have changed from outlook to Lotus notes. And outlook is still trying to set itself as default mail client. I know where the key is to turn off the check, but during the configuration of Office the key has been restriced. I need to either change the reg key or delete it all togeather. I have a script that will make the changes to my own HKCU, but I am in the local admins group. I need this to work for a normal user(non-admin). I have to roll this out to about 400 computers.     - Bypass folders without file permissions i have a vbs to count number of doc files, like this for each folder in folders .... next the script is completely ok to count files in the folders with file rights permission. however, i try to run it in other folders without file rights, like c:\documents and settings\OtherUser.... it has a script error then i use "on error resume next" to try to bypass the folder the script can be finished. but the count calculation is completely wrong. funny is that it return result of 1732 doc files but i don't have permission to look into the folder. my question is how can i bypass the folder which i don't have file permission. my script is supposed to loop through all the folders in a drive.     - Searching computers on the net, and finding which is online This concerns a logon-script, which assigns drive letters to network drives, like in WshNetwork.MapNetworkDrive "E:", "\\server-x\Public" The problem is that not all servers (rather peers) are not always switched on, and trying to map drives to those computers results in long wait times and eventually invalid drive mappings. But the WshNetwork object offers me -- as far as I can find out -- no means to verify first, if the target computer is actually reachable. I would like to have a method which enumerates all computers which are currently logged on in a domain, or searching computers on the LAN generally, as the "Search computer" menu item in "Network Neighbourhood" (or how that is called in english).     - Script to import Avaya Informix database Hello - Please HELP! I need to use information from four tables which are from our phone system (Avaya system; database type = Informix). I've tried to import the info via ODBC (install disk given to us by Avaya, but I need to do it on a Windows Server 2003 server and I am getting an oledb_lt.lic (licensing) error that they cannot resolve. In the end, I need to import this into a Sql Server database and schedule daily imports. Thought I could import it directly into Sql Server via BIDS and schedule it through Agent, but to no avail. I then tried to even get the info out in the form of a text file, but again to no avail. My next thought was perhaps a VB script may be the answer, but I don't know how to do that.     - CDO script causes Exchange Server to hang Pardon me for making this so vague, but... I have a script that uses CDO to access messages in a mailbox and delete them based on age. The script works fine in testing. It works some of the time in the production environment, but intermittently causes the Exchange Server's local delivery queue to stop processing, become unresponsive to a manual reconnect, and require the server to be rebooted. The consequence not as bad as it may sound. This server is used only for journaling copied messages. I know this sounds like an Exchange issue, but thought I would ask the question here first to see if anyone had a similar issue. Is there some way to throttle or "chunk" the amount of data transmitted in the session? This might be similar to the ADO Recordset parameter that limits the number of records returned in a query.     - Renaming files Hi: I've written a macro in vba that works well where it will go to a directory, find a file and rename it. The problem is, I can't get it to work in vbs. The catch is that I won't know the exact file name to find. So, for example, the file will begin with "Int_Data" but then the program that creates the file will attach a set of numbers to the end of the file extension like "Int_Data_123456". The numbers are something that I cannot predict. Below is the code I've written and does not work. I think I'll need to use InStr to find the file, but I'm not sure how to use it to find a file beginning with "Int_Data" and rename it. Any suggestions? Thanks.     - vbscript error 70 - permission denied I am new to VBScripting but have done some development in VBA. I have a procedure that I have written to run on Windows-XP systems connected to Windows-2000 server. Whole point of script is to do some intelligent file copying with msgboxes to user to confirm intentions, file sizes, dates, times, etc. All works well EXCEPT for the actual file copy. Even though I can access mapped shares on server and other users local hard disk published shares from command prompt and list contents and copy files at wiil, the copyfile operation in the script invariably fails with error 70. What is the point of having a copyfile operation, which I have used with great success in vba, that basically is unable to copy files in code.     - 800A0007 Out of memory retrieving AD object Hi, I have some users in AD that are in 150+ Domain groups. It looks to me like the client VBS engine is running out of memory retrieving the large AD user object for parsing. Is there a way to fix this?     - DirectX Version Is there a way to find out the version of DirectX on a system from VBScript? Currently, we determine the version of DirectX via a VBScript by looking at the registry entry of HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DirectX\Version This worked OK with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, however for Windows Vista and for Server 2008, this registry key indicates DirectX 9 instead of 10. The reason given for that is that DirectX 9 exists in Vista and Server 2008 for backward compatibility purposes. Using dxdiag we can see that the DirectX version is indeed 10, but we cannot use dxdiag within a script (easily) without writing the version to a file with dxdiag and then reading it in, which is a little unreliable and "clunky". Do you know of a way of determining, either by registry or other means, what the version of DirectX is. We use this script for patching machines and servers and need to determine the correct patch for those that are DirectX level dependent. This is necessary because we have found that since we use My Documents folder redirection and Disk Quotas on the Server 2003 R2 SP2 file server, that the Recycle Bin contents on user's computers are being included in Disk Quotas on the server.     - AppActivate an Internet Explorer window I'm having some trouble accomplishing two tasks with a modified version of Tom Lavedas' script. Specifically, what I am trying to accomplish is: 1) Detect if any Internet Explorer windows are already open and that have a title of "Google - Windows Internet Explorer" 2) If there is, bring to the foreground (and with the focus) the first one found 3) If there are not, open up Internet Explorer and navigate to a specific web page (and with the focus) Tom Lavedas' script pretty much does the searching and title comparing, and that seems to work fine.     - VWD 2005 Express ? I'm not sure I'm at the right place here, so direct me if I'm not. I downloaded Visual Web Developer 2005 Express and 2008 Express. But I can't get them installed. It seems right at the very end everything goes bananas. Halts and goes into the panic mode by Disk Checking. I have to power off and reboot, then it wants to do a check disk. You may want to check out the website "Outlookcode.com". There is a huge
amount of great references there. Hope that gives you a head start on your
