    - SP2 security problems Does anyone have a link to a thorough explanation of how to manage XP SP2 security for files? I sent a zip to a friend, with VBS files inside. He got a message that "some files were blocked" when he extracted the zip, and the VBS files were not extracted! It appears that I need to understand the various SP2 settings in order to dependably send files to others. And now I'm also wondering about downloaded zips with VBS inside.     - VBS does not run in Schediled Task if user is not logged in runas I have a Win 2003 Server runnig the same script I was using On win 2000 Server. This script is set to run as a local admin and will only execute if the local admin is logged in. I have made a small script just to test this and it exibits the same issues. spin.vbs For i = 1 to 100000 next ST command line = c:\windows\system32\cscript.exe c:\temp\spin.vbs when this executes and the local admin is logged in the SCH Task GUI status indicates running while the script is spinning and the result = 0x0. BUT when another admin is logged in and teh ST executes Status stayes blank and result = 0x1. Conduting the same test with notepad both cases show Status running then result 0x0.     - Loading your settings failed Error message Right now I am receiving an the error: "Loading your settings failed (access is denied)" when trying to run a .vbs file. I have looked at other suggestions that stated to look at the HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS SCRIPT HOST permissions and all of the permissions are correct, meaning I am an administrator on this machine and administrators have full access to the registry key.     - Disconnect Printer If it exists Hi, I'm trying to do a login vbs script that deletes a printer if it exists on the machine. I can delete the printer if it exists OK, so that the first time a user logs on, all is well. However, the next time the script runs, I get an error stating: "This network connection does not exist" What I want to do is put an if exists statement around the deletion, so that if it isn't there, the script doesn't try to delete it. In Word, if you type --- and the press enter, it turns it into a line that goes right across the screen. How can I do this through automation? I want to run a script that will display all the software installed on a PC (software installed using Windows installer). When I run the same script as a GPO policy on a PC, and then run an almost identical version on the PC itself, I get slightly different results.     - Map drive letter to WebDAV We have a Novell cluster that is Web Dav enabled that we want to map a drive letter to the Web Dav location for the user either as they log in, or an icon on their desktop. I searched high and low, and did see a good way to do this. I thought about using a VBS script to map the drive letter. Even if I have to prompt them for their password and use the username they log in with by pulling it, that would be fine as well. Does anyone know of a way to do this?     - clearing Id in Vbscript ???? hi, i have a following html id in the body part of asp <DIV id=details1></DIV> initally when the page loads, this id is empty and when i click a button on my asp page, it assigns a value to it using "details1.innerHTML = my_val" through vbscript and its value is visable on webpage. i press the button again and at that point i want to clear this id value. i have used the following code for clearing details1.innerHTML ="" but... the problem is that if <DIV id=details1></DIV> is between 2 lines then i get a space of id after clearing it. this space is not there when page initally loads. my question is, how to clear this ID properly. Basically, I want to be able to send a user to execute a script from a share and it will download the hotfix automatically from MS (optimistically, this would have the ability to be changed for newer hotfixes down the road). Any ideas? You don't have to supply me the entire script really...just something to get me going in the right direction. Am I missing something totally?     - How to open "Date and Time Properties" window in XP? Howdy, My HP laptop has a bad habit of booting up with it's clock set at 01/01/2004 12:00 AM HP swears they are aware of it and are working on a BIOS update. So, in the interim, I have to remember to check the clock after logging in. I usually forget until I get a warning from MS Outlook about Gmails certificate not being valid until 11 months in the future. So, I've written a vbscript to run each time I log into the desktop that pops up a window if the current date is 01/01/2004 to remind me to change the date / time. I'd like for it to pop up the Date and Time Properties window automatically for me (the one that opens when you double click on the clock). Anyone know how to do this? The first time it runs, following power-on or system restart, it takes an order of magnitude longer to open the document than all subsequent runs. I have tried it on three machines. My question is : why so long for the initial document opening? Or in other words, what is it doing first time that it isn't doing all subsequent times? Is it possible for me to trigger whatever the initial document opening is doing, without actually opening a document (in other words "hide" whatever is happening in the first document opening in the login process)? Hi there,

We currently have a requirement to set (via a VB Script) the Proxy
server name / port for dialup connections on a PC. So far, I wrote a
script to find the names of the RAS connections on the PC, but am
unsure where the proxy server setting is for the each connection. I've
searched the registry, and it isn't in the RAS phonebook file.

Can anyone shed any light on where this setting is stored?
