    - Copy folder to time stamped folder. I found the following script, which by the way is a fantastic script and props to the one that wrote it. But I need it to do a little more for me. I need the script to copy the folder not just the files inside that folder. IE copy C:\Scripts to D:\Backup\â??folder created from scriptâ??\Scripts I also need to be able to specify multiple folders to copy like C:\Scripts, C:\Extras and so forth. Now I do not have to do this by any means it would just be nice to not have to create a new script for every one of the 6 to 8 folders this will run for. I modified it again and again to what I think it should be but cannot figure it out getting a script error every time. So here is the original script change so that it copyâ??s not moves the files. Every time I modify it I get an error on line 57. I just cannot figure it out after 2 days of screwing with it.     - Add Domain Users group to local Power Users group Hi I've absolutely no idea about scripting and have been searching the net for scripts that add domain users / groups to local groups but haven't found anything that works yet. What I'm after is one that can dynamically assign the %computername% variable inside the script so that the script works on all computers.     - IIS 6.0 ASP error 0201 I'm getting an error 0201 from an ASP script. This *used* to work until recently. I've done the obvious things: - checked the permissions on ASP.DLL and VBScript.dll - re-registered the DLLs - set failure audit on the DLLs for the IUSR_ account - re-installed the Scripting package Nothing seems to work. I don't get a failure audit entry, but it still tells me that my default scripting language is invalid. Short of tearing down the machine and doing a complete rebuild, I'm stuck for ideas.     - Reading data from file and writing I have a created a script that will read through an entire file and write the contents to a second file. And actually I stripped much of the code out for simplicity for posting to newsgroup. What I am actually doing in the larger script is cycling through many files and concanating all the data into a single file. The problem I am trying to figure out to only to write the data starting at a certain point in the file and then stopping . All data is baically between two of the tags. For example, I need to write the current line that starts with <SystemNumber> and write all data beyond this point until I reach </SystemNumber> and write that line but stop reading any more data. Yes, I relize these are xml tags. Not sure if it's possible to get tag and get everything between until I get to ending tag. The xml gets very complicated between tags and the approach I am taking is writing the data to the cocanted file and then actually using the data with another process I wrote.     - ADSI-Changing Terminal Server Profile Settings This fall I successfully created a script to set-up Active Directory accounts for all the users in a school environment. I've made some changes to the system which necessitates changing the terminal services profile path for all the users. I'd like to write a script that will enable me to do so, but I'm haveing a very difficult time finding the service to which I should be binding to make the change. People might want to disable or delete certasin files, or at least take some precautions. There are two "very serious" bugs out right now. Both are apparently known to be actively exlpoited and neither is patched. This one is a risk for anyone with VB.Net 2005 installed, but presumably others could have installed the DLL for WMI scripting use.     - Apostrophe problem when retrieving folder security details Hello, I am currently trying to write a script to scan through all folders and subfolders on a drive and return me their trustee information (who has permission to view folder). I have written a script which seems to work until it comes accross a folder name with an apostrophe in such as "C:\O'Brien" This returns me an invalid path error as the apostrophe is a reserved character and it stops reading after the apostrophe. I have looked online for solutions and the only solution I have come accross is to put a backslash before the apostrophe such as "C:\O\'Brien. I have tried this but the same error occurs. If I enter a On Error Resume Next code at the top of my script it will run through and appear to work but the information it returns for the apostrophe folders is incorrect - simply gives the previous folders information again.     - Add user to the local admin group during logon process Hi all, I need your help folks. I have joined new company and my predecessor added domain users to the local admin group (through the GPO) on every single desktop in the domain. This has been discovered recently and I have to find a solution ASAP. I was told that the reason this has been like that is that one of the applications requires local admin privileges to run properly. I need to add individual domain user to the local admin group on each workstation, ideally during logon process through netlogon. Is this possible at all, to add domain user into the local admin group during the netlogon process. I can't have a group of users added to the local admin as they don't want to have somebody else being local admin on their desktop. I am not sure how to script this and would realy appreciate your help. If I can do this with the script through the netlogon I will be later on remoing the domain user group from the local admin group on each desktop again through the GPO by unchecking that feature.     - xml/xslt I wrote a vbscript that uses xml/xslt transformation and it working except for one thing I would like to change. The script goes through many xml files and transforms the data to file named Data.xml. The item I would like to figure out how to do is everytime a xml file is passed to the function it always overwites the previous data.     - is this script possible I do some work for a non for profit group. they have windows 2003 sbs with exchange. what i want to do is limit what the users can do on the local machines...such as...install apps, save any data to the local machines, not be able to play games, have access to only certain items on the server, and also have access to their email on whatever machine they sit at. and also make it so that their setting are on a computer when they log into it. meaning if they log into a computer thats not at their desk they get their settings.and also have access to internet and need admin aproval to install a plugin they might need on a webiste. users machines are windows xp pro. The issue is that retrieving the property value converts it into an integer for some reason. The second would correctly report the date value. Accessing the property from outside the class would report correctly as well. The actual code is retrieving and assigning m_ExpirationDate from an ADO recordset. I have a feeling this is some kind of strange variant conversion issue but I could not reproduce it outside of the actual environment.     - creating xml document I'm trying to create an xml document with values from a database, but have the following problem.     - DHCP Scirpt for checking default gateway I'm having a very strange problem with our DHCP servers. We currently have two MS DHCP server that are serving client in various locations doing an 80/20 split using IP Helpers. Every time we reboot the servers, some of the scopes will lose there Default router attributes. No error logged, nothing that indicates a problem, just no gateway. So each time we have to go back and re-add the gateway back in. Does anyone have any good scripts that will allow me to check each scope to see if the default gateway attribute exists after the reboot?     - How to convert strings between ASCII and Unicode? Hi I have saved all the web pages that display lists of book titles at a web site. I want to detect duplicates. I've written a VBScript to go through all of the web pages, extracting the titles in the lists. I use the file object's readall method to read the files, and the Split and other string functions to extract individual titles. I add the titles as keys in a dictionary and set the value for this item to the file name and the title's location in this file. If the key already exists, the current file and position are added to that key's value. On initial tests, this worked fine - I could easily get a list of duplicates. My problem is that while most of the web pages are plain ASCII, a significant number of them are Unicode. The string functions work fine with Unicode, but the dictionary .Exists method seems to mess up with a mixture of ASCII and Unicode, resulting in false indications that a title already exists. I know how to detect the Unicode files - the first two bytes are Hex FF FE. And my Unicode files are about twice as large as the plain ASCII file. Once I have a file or string variable that contains Unicode, how can I quicky convert it to ASCII? If the scripting dictionary handles Unicode well, I'm just as open to converting the plain ASCII to Unicode I have tried manually opening the Unicode files in WXP's Notepad and then saving them with ANSI encoding.     - creating folder tree structures Hi, Thanks for taking the time to read this. I work in the construction industry. We have recently started a new policy for how our project managers and department heads are supposed to digitally file job documents. This means that each time we start a new job or new project a particular folder structure is setup in our file servers. I am talking 100+ folders a week, each containing about 10 subfolders, and even some subfolders below those. As you can figure, this is a tedious task for anyone to do. I am looking to streamline this using some VB script if it's possible. The problem I am running into is that I still have to copy/paste folder names into my script (either script or simple mkdir batch file). I wanted to ask if there is a way to build a prompt using VB script so that if asks for the folder name and then does it's thing. This would be good so that I can create a small program for others to use. That, or can I inject data into my script from an outside database? This script will be more complicated, so that is why I am here asking. I know this is possible, and I think I should get this setup as it's going to make a big difference to our daily operations.... Hi,

Im currently implementing script signing for our admin scripts and Im
puzzled on the security warning window that pops up when we run them.

I have a valid cert and have signed my scripts, however when I run them the
security window still shows up but shows my cert as the publisher. I know
the cert is trusted, so should the warning still show up. Ultimately, I only
want the warning to display when the script isnt signed.

Can anyone help me understand what Im doing wrong?
