 - ASP HTTP XML WebService readystate question I have an existing web service that is HTTP XML based (ASP not ASP.Net). It runs fine in all environments and has been very stable and static. I have a single test ASP page that I use to build the request, form the XML and submit the request to any server I choose via radio button selection (dev, test, prod, etc). The underlaying data tables used by the web service to return result are being updated with some new values and I needed to run regression tests to verify process still works. I'm getting issues with my test ASP page sending requests to the Dev web service for any request. Requests to other servers from same test ASP page run fine. I've verified web service code is the same on all servers. I am using the exact same test ASP page to build/send requests. I log data on server side and can see that the Dev server is getting requests, processing them and sending response back. On test ASP side I can see that I'm stuck with objXmlHttp.readystate=1. It just never moves on to 4. Same request to other servers returns response using the same test ASP page session. I don't think this is an application issue.  - Transfer Query Data to Web Form Fields? Can anyone help me to transfer data results from a SQL query to input forms on a web page using vba, scripting, or whatever will work. I am manually inputting a series of data to web page forms. The web page is not mine and I have no control of the web page. The data comes from an SQL query and I want to code the transfer of the SQL data set into the web page form fields. I have little experience with VBA, or scripting, so please comment any code if possible.  - How to map a shell special folder item to the FSO file object it refers to? Hi, I want to copy certain files from the current user's 'Temporary Internet Files' folder to another folder. I have working code that uses the shell.application.Namespace(32) folder object to search through the item names, and looks at the URL they came from to pick out the folder items that meet my requirements. I would like to use the file system object to copy the file to the desired destination, and I realize that the shell folder's copyhere method also works. Problem: The file system object does not see the same file name in the Temporary Internet Files folder's hidden subfolders (the actual cache) as the shell folder item's name. Because the cache can potentially contain the same file name from many different web sites, the system adds an index within square brackets ([]) to every name. For example, the first xxx.gif becomes xxx[1].gif; the second becomes xxx[2].gif. Question: How can I map the shell folder item information to a particular FSO's file object? Is it even possible? I am currently trying out setting up an empty folder and using the shell folder copyhere method, copying the shell folder item of interest into this empty folder so there is no confusion as to whether it is the correct file, and them using FSO's FileMove method to move that file to its final destination and rename it to its original name without the [nn]. It just seems like there should be a direct way to get from the shell folder item's name and other properties to the FSO's file name and full path.  - Delete Folder on a SAN (NetApp) I want to write a simple vbscript to delete a folder on a share on our NetApp Filer. I don't know how exactly I can define this in a vbscript. If I map a drive to it, it doesn't work (I didn't think it would but had to try). Code below I haven't tried since I don't know how I would integrate it being that there are no physical drives exposed... This was pulled from Microsoft's Script Center.  - Custom Directory Listing Script I am trying to create a custom directory listing script. I have virtual directory that points to a separate drive on the server. When i go directly to the virtual directly i get the standard directory list after entering my username and password. Is it possible to keep this security but change the look and feel of the directory list. I have a script that gives my the option to customize the look but i can use windows authentications with it.  - vbs logon file currentdir and all users rights.. Hi, I would like to add a desktop shortcut to the 'All users' Start Menu folder from the below vbs logon script. I have two problems: A 'Normal' domain user cannot add anything (read: this shortcut) to the 'All Users' folder. How can I overcome this from a logon script..? Secondly I want to assign a specific icon to this shortcut. The .ICO file is located in the netlogon share (same location as the vbs logon file itself).  - vbscript create users directories/move users dir to Win2k3/change I have some questions as to which would be the best approach(es) to use. Currently, we have a Win2K server and would like to move Users(their home) dir to Win2k3. I have only about 200 user dir that need to be moved. However, I have about 1300 users that need to be created. Right now, in AD on the profile tab has the CONNECT to L: to the \\serverwin2k\actual username. This does not create the user home directory when creating a user dir in AD & I would need that to automatically do that. I would like to keep the same drive letter. I don't know if its better to hide the users dir -- like \\server\users$\ %username% or how to do that so when individual accounts are made it automatically creates it. My first thought is to create the Users directory on the new server and then run a vbscript to create ALL the users directory from an excel spreadsheet that has the user dn names & I would need the shares and permissions set. Than I would need to move the existing users directories(& files) into the new server overwriting some of the folders already created. I also would need a vbscript to change in AD for all the users under this Users OU the connect to the new server etc. I'm relatively new to some of the scripting, but I've been googling all day and editing and trying some and don't seem to be getting anywhere.  - Automated Folder Scripting Process Hi Hopefully someone can help. I need a script which will help me with the following. I have a Root folder lets say for arguments sake is C: \folder\ Then within here I have 2 sub folders lets say sub1 and sub2. So overall I have a folder structure as follows: - C:\folder\SUB1 C:\folder\SUB2 Within each of these sub folder are countless other sub folders and below each sub folder (lets say R001) here we have 3 further sub folders (lets say R001_XXX, R001_YYY, R001_ZZZ) similarly we have the same under sub2 I need a script to automate the following 1) prompt the user which sub folder they want to create a new folder in (either sub1 or sub2) 2) Copy the latest folder within here (so say we have R001 up to R0010 then here I would copy R0010) within sub1 or sub2 folder depending on the choice made in step 1 3) Rename the new R0010 folder to the next number up - R0011 then rename the sub folders to R0011_XXX, R0011_YYY, R0011_ZZZ 4) finally I need to open some sort of text file (eg notepad) with the name sof the subfolders in it so that I can easily copy and paste their names into an application.  - How to use VarType = 13 objects Hi, I'm working with IMAPI2 objects. The way my script works is not important. The specific problem I have is that one method returns an object, but this is not recognized as an usable object by VBS. I've this line that returns an object: Set objStream = objImage.ImageStream objStream is an IStream object with its own methods, but trying to invoke one of its methods, generates a runtime error: "Object Required 'objStream'". I found the following: IsObject(objStream) returns FALSE VarType(objStream) returns 13 (not 9 as expected for an object) TypeName(objStream) returns "Unknown" Is there any way to use the methods provided by this type 13 object in VBS ?  - Script to Auto Insert Images into MS FrontPage? I need a script that will examine a folder to discover all the files (jpg images) in the folder and then create html that displays the images in my current FrontPage web page . I can then move the images around on the page and then save the page which will place the images in the web's images folder. If I do it manually using Insert/Picture etc then I get html which looks like: <img border="0" src="../../Data/LEASURE/Places/Newbury/DSC01160.JPG" width="480" height="640"> I am puzzled that the drive and highest level folder which contains the image is not shown.  - File Size Check I have a simple batch file that FTP's out to a server, logs in, retrieves a file and places it on my server and then here's where I run into a problem. When it was written in XP the batch then checked the size of the file and if it was greater than 0, the batch ended and was done. If the file was not greater than 0, it slept for 20 minutes (echo sleep 1200) and then re-ran the FTP process. Now that this is on Windows 2000, I can't figure out how to make it work. I'm trying to istantiate an ArrayList in VBScript (on an classic ASP page).  - problem parsing recipients from email to field hello, I have an event sink that traps mail going through the smtp server. I need to parse the msg.to field so that I can get each single user: the string looks like this: "Johnny Lance (BCO-London)" <jlance@bco.net>, "lhughes@bco.net" <lhughes@bco.net> basically I need to get the smtp address of each recipient, the one between the "<" and ">". The recipents could be just one or a few. So I would need to cycle through this list but honestly I have no idea how build this array in a vbscript. Anybody can give a hand ?  - Unsecapp.exe and wmiprvse.exe I'm using XP Prof SP2 and VBScript, WSH v5.7 I have a script installed on a remote machine, ComputerB. On the local, ComputerA, are two scripts which start and stop the script on ComputerB. The script on ComputerB makes two ExecNotificationQueryAsync calls and reports by e:mail when the specified events occur. When the script is started, from ComputerA, two instances of wmiprvse.exe are started, on ComputerB, and a single Unsecapp.exe. That's all fine. The script is kept 'live' with a Do-Sleep-Loop. I'm trying to discover if there's a way of stopping the ComputerB script gracefully, so that it can call the .Cancel method on the two Async calls. At present, the ComputerA Stop script simply .Terminates the WScript process on ComputerB, but this leaves the two wmiprvse.exe and the Unsecapp.exe still running on ComputerB. For now ComputerA, stops and starts WMI and .Terminates Unsecapp, leaving ComputerB in a 'clean' state. This seems a bit ham fisted when .Cancel would, effectively, do this for me.  - running Excel with VBscript Hi, I am writing a script that takes a file name on the command line and then tries to open the file and runs a macro in the file. I'm a newbie on VBscript btw. The problems: 1) If the user supplies a file name that does not exist, the script prints some error message to the command line, but the Excel object does not disappear. If I try this 10 times, 10 EXCEL.exe processes will show up in the task manager. Is there any way to have any unclosed handles/objects to be cleaned up automatically in the case of errors? 2) Some excel files asks for links to be updated with a message box, but I want this to run noninteractively and always want to "not update", can this behaviour be set in the script?  - Netbios file shares via WMI? Can I create and manage NetBIOS shares on an XP PC using WMI? If not, is there any procedure to create and manage file shares using generic VBScript? For the curious: I need to replicate my office network structure on a development laptop in my home, in order to test an application that makes generous use network resources via UNC-style paths. I have already written a WMI vbscript that uses the lanmanserver 'OptionalNames' registry key to define Netbios aliases matching the server names at the office; I now need to share local folders, giving them the share names that match those on the office servers. The end result being C:\work-from- home\db is AKA \\Workserver1\database_share, and C:\work-from-home \files is AKA \Workserver22\file_share; the app thinks it's in the office, without having to be reconfigured in any way. I need to _script_ this process because a) the work is constantly changing, and b) if I have \\Workserver as an OptionalName for my laptop, and I bring that laptop into the office for any reason, and \ \Workserver happens to be rebooted, there will be a name conflict (it's actually happened).  - VB Script for Legato Networker Hi there I am a total newbie to VBScripting and was wondering if someone can help out here. I am trying to write a vbscript that I can run to label all my tapes that are inserted into backup drives in all our Regional Office. (about 13 Offices) Labeling, mounting tapes, etc can all be done with the Legato command line, But I would like to automate all this. The only thing is I want legato to check what tape is currently loaded in the drive and then if it is the right media to label it. If it is not the right label it must prompt you for the correct tape. I know how to check the current loaded media with the legato commands. So in short: I have the vbscript to tell legato to check what media is loaded. If it is the right media then to label the tape with a label. And it is not the right media to prompt your for the right media to be inserted into the backup drive. Please can someone help. If you need any additional information please let me know.  - Sendkeys, Appactivate and inconsitency Ok, here is the deal. I've written a web page that has an input form with as many as 30-40 variables. Hitting submit starts a VBScript. So I start out the script and I focus on the main app first, then I focus on the window that is being used in the app, then I send a command to open a text box in that Window, then I send the text contained in the variables (As well as some additional text) to that text box. The problem being that this does not work consistently. Sometimes None of the variables I am sending make it to the text box, sometimes half of them make it to the text box, sometimes all. I posted a bit of the script so you can have the general idea behind it. I am having no problems with validating variables, etc.....just getting them to send. Would I be better off creating a single variable by continuing to concantinate it every time an individual variable is validated?  - usb write blocker I am trying to add a script or reg setting that will block the writing to a usb device and it's not quite working. Ideally I don't want any users to be able to copy any files to a usb drive or copy a file from usb to the local hard drive. The mouse and printer uses the usb ports so they can't be disabled. I tried a reg setting that blocks writing to usb devices, but doesn't do anything. "hklm\system\currentcontrolset" dword writeprotect to 1. I can still copy and move files to the usb drive.  - Using XCACLS in VBS - why does it keep slowing down? I have a csv file that contains about 8000 rows. Each row contains a student username, professor username, and class name. I also have a vbs file that loops through each row in the csv file, using %COMSPEC% with mkdir and xcacls to create a directory structure for each class in our college. For each class' directory, the professor is given full access and each student is only given full access to their personal folder within the directory. There is also a shared folder within each class directory; the students are given read access to this folder and the professor is given full access. Domain Admins are given full access to everything. The script to create all of this works fine and all of the directories and permissions are created perfectly. But here is what I don't understand: The script starts off working very efficiently - creating about 1,600 folders in the first hour. But it gradually slows down as it goes along. After about 10 hours of running, it is only creating about 600 folders/hour. The end result is that it takes over 13 hours to complete when (based on the first hour) I expected it to finish in 5 hours or less. One possibility is that the script slows down because it has to modify the ACLs on all those shared folders, some of which can contain up to 50 ACL entries by the time it completes. Another possibility is hardware limitiations, but I don't think so -- I'm running the script on a 3.0GHz Intel P4 Dual Core processor with 2GB or RAM running WinXP Pro and the performance monitor is indicating both the CPU and memory utilizations are below 50%. I don't think it's a network issue either - I ran the script on my local drive and it experiences the same slow down as it does running on a network drive. Perhaps it is a Windows limitiation? I've run a Unix-based script using the same logic against the same csv file using the same mkdir and cacls commands, and it completes in about 4 hours. But for some reason the unix solution causes inheritance problems in some of the directories, which is why I tried using a Windows solution instead.  - Need help for a new scripter hi there, I am a verybasic scripter and am in need of some guidence. I have been tasked with comming up with a script that will allow me to move folders from the logged in user's profile to a share on the network and to create a folder the same name as the user it was copied from. I have found some snipets that have allowed me to copy the files I want, but need to know the exact path. What I am looking for is a way to get the logged on user or last logged on users name, create a folder on a share on the network or even the local drive and copy folders from the profile into it . I can create the folders thru a script and move files, but don't want to have to write 75 different scripts for each indiviual computer to get the folders moved. below is my attempt at creating what I needed. Hi There

I am looking for a script which will basically connect to all my
Clusters (maybe listed in a text file) of which there are about 6 and
tell me if any clutser groups has been failed over from its preferred
node. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It would be advantageous
if this was in the form of a HTA. I dont mind what form the output is.
It could be a simple echo message on the screen to a report file.
