    - question about getting the user name of a logoff event. Hello, I have a script which lets me actively monitor logoffs (the important portion is attached below). It works fine but I'm only interested in knowing about when a human logged off... I don't need to know about accounts with a "$" in them or system accounts. Is there any way I can filter or use a logical operator to prevent getting notified about them? I found the following reference on the internet at AVID's web site and since i had never heard of the Include statement before i wondered if anyone else has and if this is now obsolete as the page was dated 2002. Can't believe that this feature would be removed in such a short space of time 2002-2004/5. Using this method would really help me with my code, already using a similar process via Function calls however pulling from another file seems more practical to me, though those of you who are more conversant with VBS may be able to provide better direction on this. Also looking at the 5.6 CHM there is no reference to the include statement that i have found so far. -----snip it Including External Scripts (Windows Only) You can include an external script file (.vbs or .js) in another script file. This lets you reuse common routines without the need to paste them into every file. Once you have included a script file as shown below, the routines exist in the global namespace and you can call them in the same way you would call any other routine in the script. These techniques work only on Windows platforms. This is because the Scripting.FileSystemObject is not available on IRIX or Linux.     - Navigating nodes in MMC snap-in I'm using the MMC 2.0 Automation Object Model to navigate the child nodes in a Microsoft Management Console snap-in, in this case Computer Management. It's sort of working, except that there doesn't seem to be a proper way of determining whether the end of a node path has been reached. At the moment I'm using an On Error statement to trap the error which is generated when calling GetChild at the end of the node path. The output produced is: Root node = Console Root Node name = Computer Management (Local) Node name = System Tools Node name = Event Viewer Node name = Application Error: The parameter is incorrect. Error number: -2147024809 Also, at the moment the code only navigates the first node and its children all the way to the Application node in Event Viewer. I'll need a recursive function to navigate the whole tree - both child nodes and sibling nodes. Can anyone see anything wrong with the following code? Thanks.     - xml to webservice from excel i have an excel doc that a user fills out and when finished they click a button which then thru vba creates an xml file. What i would like to do is when the xml file is created, for it to be sent to a web service that will then validate it and put it into a database. I have yet to figure out how to send the xml document from excel to the webservice via vba of excel. I have it working to consume a webservice to get support data for this process. But just can't figure out how to send the final xml doc. Please i am begging for any hints or starter code that someone may be willing to provide. I have been trying to figure this out for about 2 months(on and off). The version of excel is 2002 and i can't upgrade to XP do to corp. policy. I have Soap2.0 installed.     - Disabling Time Server Problem/Error For the most part i thought i had disabled the time server facility both via disabling the service and removing the servers from the registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\W32Time\Start (4) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\W32Time\Parameters\NtpServer (deleted - time.windows.gov,0x1 (default value)) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\W32Time\Parameters\Type (deleted - NoSync (default value)) also HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload\1 (deleted) HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload\2 (deleted) However while looking into the issue of the servers and how they get written to the registry i noticed a peculiar event. Lets say i have all the above links checked and implemented. Now go to the clock in the tool bar and go to the Internet Time tab. Now click on the "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server" check box Now Apply and Exit Now go to the registry and lets look at the registry entries above again and all of a sudden the service is started and a new reference to the time server is written. Now I can disable the clock from the taskbar of course however that still leaves the potential for the time server to be activated via script without the user knowing. My question is, is there a way to disable the "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server" check box or alternatively to disable the Internet Time tab. Policy process won't eliminate this completely if time service changed via a script. I have looked and can find no reference to this issue or how to disable it in the registry, so any insight and help into the potential to completely disable this facility would be most welcome.     - FileSystemObject-Invalid procedure call or arg Hi, I'm getting the "Invalid procedure call or argument" error when trying to write files what appears to be when the file is over a certain size. I have two versions of the script. One is running in an .asp page and the other in a .vbs file. It is only breaking when executing via wsh. Both versions run under Windows 2003 (ie IIS6, WSH v5.6) Any ideas on why the script breaks when writing files over a certain size in vbscript? I have the following i would like to place in the registry. "cmd.exe /c MD "%1\NewFolder"" The problem is that by putting the original " " marks at the beginning and the end of the code seems to limit putting "%1\NewFolder" around this parameter, which is important in this instance.     - STDERR and STDOUT redirection from within a vbs script Hello, I have to use some vbs script, lauching them from within another application i'm coding in err ... another language :) Is there a simple way to force redirection of STDOUT and STDERR from within the vbs script ? That is I'm looking for some instructions to add at the begining of the vbs script, that will take 2 filenames as arguments and afterwards redirect the stderr and stdout to these files. I used ASP classic (the non-dotnet kind) to access domain objects with getobject("WinNT://"... stuff. When the domain server was upgraded (after format) to 2003, getobject now reports a permission denied. Does 2003 lock out ASP classic from the WinNT:// objects and other ADSI objects?     - Loading mulitple files Below is an example of gathering informtion from a xml file. The file is a template with stored values that will be used for comparision. Now that I have my intitial values how can I look at a directory with multiple xml files and do a verify that the template values match each xml files value. I kinda of an idea how to approach but not sure with vbscript. I think I need to add another For Each statement to grab all the files in some directory. Then open each xml file and grab the xml data the same way as below. Where I am getting confused is when I open a xml from directory and grab values is actually comparing the template data to the xml file opened. I planned on creating a error log everytime I read thorugh an xml and the versions do not match template. The directory where all the xml files are located are named ComputerName.xml. Computername is unique. Since the xml is read from first record to end, I thought maybe doing some IF statement on the version number. This is the Output of the date. I've used Frontpage XP to create a form that saves the results to an Access database. We can then access the results and edit them when needed using the Frontpage database editor. What I would like is for the confirmation page to email the results (or specific fields) from the form to our help desk so we can be notified when a new record has been added.     - SENDKEYS + Batch Process Hi All!!!! as u could see in this subject, this is a little weird problem.. lol This is it: I created a .vbs file, it runs a batch process opening an Internet Explorer Window, logs in an external website , and upload a file from this comp ( where i have the vbs file ) The first problem i had : when i navigate a HTTPS URL , it ask for the certificate window and i had to click YES manually .. so i used the SENDKEYS to send 2 TABs and one ENTER to step over that window.. it worked The second problem : On the upload page, i had to browse the file to upload. HTML doesnt let u write in a FILE control Value. So i used again the SENDKEYS to send the full path of the file to upload. It worked. Now the Actual Problem : this computer has to be locked while the process runs.. so.. the sendkeys doesnt work becouse the focus it s on the windows login window.     - Print File I am interesting in allowing the user to select some information from a web form ... and then based on that input perform was database queries and then print a job to a windows queue. I 'googled' on many topics to determine how best to perform the print portion of this - but had no luck. He got a message that "some files were blocked" when he extracted the zip, and the VBS files were not extracted!     - VBS does not run in Schediled Task if user is not logged in runas I have a Win 2003 Server runnig the same script I was using On win 2000 Server. This script is set to run as a local admin and will only execute if the local admin is logged in. I have made a small script just to test this and it exibits the same issues. spin.vbs For i = 1 to 100000 next ST command line = c:\windows\system32\cscript.exe c:\temp\spin.vbs when this executes and the local admin is logged in the SCH Task GUI status indicates running while the script is spinning and the result = 0x0. BUT when another admin is logged in and teh ST executes Status stayes blank and result = 0x1. Conduting the same test with notepad both cases show Status running then result 0x0. I am looking to create a VB script that will allow me to enter a phone
number into a textbox and have the script automatically call up the
dial up networking prompt, enter that number and dial it. Note that
the outbound number will continualy be changing based on the number
that is in the textbox.
Can anyone give me any leads on how to accomplish this?
