    - VBScript for getting IIS App Pool properties remotely. Hello all. I would like to be able to run a vbscript on my XP machine that will connect to different IIS servers running W2003 and give me a listing of all the App Pools with their names and properties. I am pretty sure I am going to have to use WMI to do this but I can't find the correct settings to use. I have found some scripts on the net that work on Vista using WMI with root\WebAdministration, but this does not work on W2003. We do a lot of vbscripting, lots of reading files and writing files, creating html reports, etc. We have some of our own COM objects that we wrote for data access to retrieve data for the reports. As of late, about a month or two ago, our scripts started crashing for no apparent reason and would throw the above error in the event log. This is sporadic- some days the scripts will execute to completion, but other days it takes a good four or five tries before they will execute to completion. After adding several debugging lines and researching which file should be getting written to, I have found that it seems to crash while a .Read, .ReadLine, .Write, or .WriteLine method. Does anyone have at least a suggestion on what we can do to help prevent these crashes or any other troubleshooting advice?     - Script to view ACL auditing information Hi, I've been trying to create a script to display the ACL ntfs auditing information on a particular folder and have tried using WMI and cacls, but these methods onlt show the access permissions and not what is been audited. Is there a way in Vbscript or any utility to display / retrieve the NTFS auditting information or at the very least check to see if auditing is enabled on a particular folder?     - Searching a text file for a line. Hey all, I'm trying to make a script that searches a text file for a line, takes the number on that line and sticks in in a variable. I have been working on it for about an hour with little success. I figure I need to use the readall method, but is there a way I can get the readline method to just grab the data off a certain line say like line 16 so I do not need to search the whole txt?     - create and send email with attachments I'm trying to create and send an email of a report that is generated earlier in a vbscript file, and I have been successful in generating and sending the email, but when I try to add an attachment, it gives me an error message saying the CDO.Message object does not support the method "AddAttachment".     - Question regarding New User Creation Script Hello Everybody, I wonder if someone can help with the questions I have. I have a Citrix Server which is a member of an NT4 domain which in turn trusts and AD Domain. My administrators access the citrix server to manage both the NT4 domain and the AD Domain. However if my users use the VBScript I have created to create user accounts they can only create accounts on the NT4 domain and not the AD domain. If they run the script directly on a server which is a member of the AD domain then it works fine and creates accounts on the AD domain. (I am unsure if it successfully creates accounts on the NT4 Domain from the AD Domain as I have not tested this yet.) Does anyone know if there are restrictions in place preventing a script from creating user accounts on Multiple different domains from one domain and if so does anyone know how to resolve this issue?     - Help with VBscript to delete files Hello Everyone, I use the following vbscript code to delete files in a particular directory on my FTP server. I delete all files in the starting folder and it's subfolders after 14 days. Today however I had a request to keep files in one folder and it's subfolders (say folder xyz and it's sub-folders) for 5 months. I thought I could just put an If statement in the selectfiles Subroutine like so ( I also left it in the code where I thought it should go) if folder = "xyz" then vKillDate = date() - 150 but that did not work.     - WMI StopService Anyone know about the error codes for Win32_Service StopService? I'm getting error 4 when trying to stop some services. The description of that error is "Invalid Service Control", which tells me nothing. I'm trying to figure out what actually causes error 4. (I asked in the WMI group but it seems to be rather sleepy over there, with little activity.) Running as only user, with full control, on XP.     - Reading input file I have what seems to be a very simple issue in a script that I am writing. The first line in an input file that I'm reading is an arbitrary number, and every line after that is the meat of the input file. An example of the log file would look like this: 12345 cf,http://dev.sheeltest.org/sys2/objFolder How would I read the first line and put it into a variable, and then take the next line and any subsequent lines in the input line and splits it into an array? Detailed explanation: It is possible to escape newlines in cmd.exe by ending a line with the caret (^) and then pressing the enter key twice. Thus, the following 3 lines will display foo, and on the next line it will display bar: echo foo^ bar Very nifty. What I would now like, however, is for the result of an echo, piped into more, to display foo on one line, followed by bar on the next. The following 3 lines do not work: echo foo^ bar | more more will only shows the first line, foo. What is going on is that when echo is piped into more, for reasons I have not fathomed, the command line parser runs over the command line twice (for example, there are two levels of environment variable expansion as will be seen shortly).     - Date range problem I'm have a site that will display a banner image based on the time of year. My date ranges go from: 4/1 - 6/30 7/1 - 9/30 10/1-11/30 12/1 - 3/31 My script is below. The first three ranges work fine, but the last one spans two different years. If it's 2007, the range will be 12/1/2007 - 3/31/2007. Obviously, that won't work. And, when the year changes to 2008, none of the date ranges will be true because the 12/1-3/31 range will now be 12/1/2008 - 3/31/2008. I thought about incrementing the year for 3/31 based on the current year, but if the current year is correct, I can't increment it. Suggestions? Just not sure how to go about this. Thanks!     - get value from combo box to add data to JList Hi all, I am currently trying to develop a java program which has two files loaded into it. One is for room rumbers which are listed in a combo box like RM01, RM02, RM03 etc, and the other files has the computer names which are loaded into the JList like RM01_01, RM01_02, RM02_01, RM02_02 etc. What I would like to do is when I click RM01 on the combo box the JList automatically repopulates with all the computers that start with RM01 so it would only show the computer names which are RM01_01, RM01_02 etc. I have tried this and it is not working properly.     - Retrieve ProcessID for the running script I am able to retrieve the ProcessID for processes using the Win32_Process Class, however I am not able to retrieve the ProcessID for the script that the code is running in. I can't use the Name of the process since I have multiple wscript.exe running so the only way I can think of getting the ProcessID is by finding properties for the current script process only. I have no idea how to do this since the closest I can get is a complete list of running processes while I just need the info for the currently running script.     - Parsing a textfile and writing file properties Windows Live Mail stores each e-mail message and newsgroup posting as a textfile with a .eml or .nws extension. The filename itself is a fairly random string of hex characters, so a typical file will be called 440D491C-00000077.eml. This is not helpful if you're looking for a specific message in the file system. I'm using XPSP2. I've played around with a VBA script to do the following with a specified folder: (a) Trawl through the folder and any subfolders looking for .eml or .nws files (b) For each file found, search for data on lines starting with From:, To:, Date: and Subject: (c) Clean up the data found - eg. From: will usually be followed by something like "Joe Bloggs" <joe.bloggs@hotmail.com>. This would result in two variables - name and address. (d) Write the data found to the file properties. I've got it working up to a point, but the problems I'm facing are: (1) encoded data. Some messages have more than one of the fields mentioned encoded, as Quoted-Printable or Base64, and then there is sometimes UTF-8 on top. I've managed to cope with most of this, but not reliably (2) I seem to be limited to Summary properties, since Custom properties won't show up as columns in Explorer. So, From: becomes Author,and Subject: becomes Subject. To: I can do without. Date: becomes one of the writeable Date fields (there aren't any), so I've put it in the Comments field. Any ideas? I need to install NET 2.0 on about 100 workstations in a Win2003 domain. I
would use group policy but there is not an NET 2.0 msi pac that will work
with group policy.

I have the redistributable file netfx.exe that I would like to place on a
distribution point and install over the network. I have done vb scripts
before but nothing like this.

I need someone to point me in the right direction to get started.
