    - Excel (2007) Conditional Format via VBScript I had a macro in Excel with the a command to Add conditional formatting based on the check if a cells value begins with some predefined text. Selection.FormatConditions.Add _ Type:=xlTextString, String:="apple", TextOperator:=xlBeginsWith Now i will change from having an Excel file with a macro in it, to a VBScript with is creating the Excel file from scratch. As subject really, I'm after the most efficient way of finding out as part of a users login script if they are a member of the Administrators or Power Users group on the machine they are logging in on?     - multi thread scripting I want to read the registry different services check and more of 25000 computers. But this script is very slow. It runs 3 days long pffffff! I can copy and make more scripts of the same, but there is a easy way to fix this.     - Install Patches through vbscript I want to install the patches in folder "PatchRepository" through a vbscript.     - burning DVD failure Hi there, I just attempted to burn a DVD on my DELL GX-280 with 2Gb of RAM, 3.8Ghz CPU. Set objStream = CreateObject ( "ADODB.Stream" ) objStream.Open objStream.Type = adFileTypeBinary objStream.LoadFromFile strISOFile If objDataWriter.NextWritableAddress = 0 Then objDataWriter.Write(objStream) Wscript.Echo "Done" Else Wscript.Echo "Cannot write to disc" End If I copied the script from this TechNet site (modifying the directory only): https://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/topics/imapi/imapi2-2.mspx#EYH The burning began and while watching the process in the Task Manager I saw a huge increase in Memory (Working Set Memory, I think) up to 1.8Gb. Then after a few minutes an exception was thrown from WScript: Out of Memory. After I closed the msg window which was modal the memory consumption wound down slowly and the process was eventually shut down after about a minutes or so. My question is: why? I've burned DVDs before with Windows Media Player with no problem. I've burned some picture images on this machine and attempted to burn iso images but they all came out sort of hollow, although the eventual file size was close to what I expected the data did not seem to be there and I could not use the DVD to install the software. So, I've decided to use a script since I felt that it would give me a better handle on the process. Is it a known issue? Is it possible to improve the script? Are there other scripts out there that can do the same? Nore: the iso image I tried to burn is a MSSqlServer eveloper Edition. I am an MSDN Pro subscriber. Some patch or other software was loaded and now when the script gets to the add attachment statement, it hangs and uses 50% of the processor. I have tried uninstalling all the patches I can find that have been loaded in the last month, but it still hangs. There is no error and nothing in the event logs? Has anyone else seen this problem? However, if I attach a zip file, as shown, I get the following error on the send: "The transport lost its connection to the server."     - Why Can't You Set the PageFile on Server 2008 using VBScript and W Ok, so this is a bit of a wierd one. During our automated build of Windows Server 2008, one of the options we would like to set is the size of the Page File. Because we have servers with lots of RAM and often not large system drives we like to set them manually, this also helps avoid page file fragmentation. In Server 2008, before you can set the page file manually, you need to disable the automatic management of the page file using the win32_ComputerSystem.AutomaticManagedPagefile property. When I set this property to false using either a PowerShell window or WMIC from the command-line it works nicely. However, when I try to set this property using VBScript it fails to save the property. I could probably cobble something together using string manipulations, but I thought regex might be a more elegant solution, but I dont have much experience with reg ex and I need to do this ASAP.     - rename computer I have looked at 2 options, netdom and wmi rename but what is the best way to rename a computer and account from a script ? Also looked at rename and then adding computer to a doamin which depends on the circumstance may not be appropriate. I need to connect to a global catolgue while doing this so changes are seen immediately. The rename occurs most time from the workstation that is already a member of the domain. Administrator rights may need to be provided. I've been having issues with passing the variable computername into the wmi rename option.
