    - Membership... Please help. I would like to remove DOMAIN account from a LOCAL administrators group REMOTELY using vb script. Can anybody either point me the way for more reading material for the subject or present me with the vb script? The following script can remove the member of the Administrators group if the account is a LOCAL account to that computer. If the account is a DOMAIN account, I got the error with message: 'A member could not be added or removed from the local group because the member does not exist'.     - number formating into a string I'm looking for some equivalent code that will convert a number using a mask and store the result into a string. In VBA: stringvar = Format$(I,"000") returns a 3 digit string. I.E. when I = 1; "001" is the result. Its just like the Text(I,"000") function that excel uses. How is this done in VBScripting?     - Accessing local group by group SID Hello all, perhaps someone could give me a hint for a small problem I have here. I would like to access local groups based on their well-known SID. Then check the members for the existence of certain groups. Currently I only know how to check the group based on the name. However, there is the problem, that "Administrators" group is not the same name in all languages. Is there any possibility to identify a local group based on the SID.     - Programmatically creating a USB printer port Is it possible to script the creation of a printer that's connected via a USB port? Using "prnadmin.dll" I've been able to add the drivers, and create the print object. However, I'm not able to create the port.     - Extract information from text file I am automating FTP tranfers, and need to read a log file and extract the name of the files transferred.     - Validating dates with regular expressions in a German Windows PC Hi, I have an international vbs application and I am using regular expressions to validate the format of the dates entered by the user. It works fine when running on a English windows PC but it does not recognised valid dates if the PC has the German version of windows. Once a file is copied into the folder, I would like to check the filename against a list of known files, move it, rename it and process it.     - ReadAll and RegExp Hello Everyone, I'm new to posting in this group and was hoping that I might be able to get some assistance with an issue that I'm having. Basically, what I'm doing is capturing AS/400 data with a software called PlanetPress Watch and when I get this data I need to run it through a VBScript to look for Index Values that will be grabbed and passed to a variable, then eventually using the variables to create delimited data file with path to a PDF, i.e. "field1"~"field2"~"field3"~@@path\pdf.pdf. My problem is that I've changed the script from using SkipLine and Skip, just in case an extra CRLF or something appears in the data, which would throw off the entire script in the fact that my Index values would be blank. I've recently discovered the power of RegExp and have been researching it over the past week to try and get a handle on it. I think I'm to the point of understanding it, but am having some issues with getting it to work in a VBScript. Part of my problem, other than being a self-taught programmer, is reading in the data file and passing it to a variable with the .ReadAll command. I think I may have the .ReadAll command now, but it's the RegExp pattern that isn't matching or something, even though it should match this: "CR\LF ACLU5801S2341380", that is CR LF Space String.     - Determining Win95 machines via login script I am needing to deploy some software to workstations that are Windows 95 (this is not a typo). What I have done so far is define a BAT file in AD for the User Login Script that uses the START \\myvbScript.vbs. The vbScript then tries to make a WINMGTS: connection and when it fails (Err.Number = 432, Class does not exist) it calls my 9xInstall.BAT file. For the most part this works since we do not have the WMI Core Environment out there but I'd rather be checking for the OS specifically, since that is what I really need to know. Unfortunately, I cannot find a way to do this without using WMI. Is there an object I can use to get the OS in vbScript or even a command in the BAT file that I can rely on? As always, thanks.     - Adding a Security group to Workstations I need to add a new security group to several workstations at two different facilities. The group to be added is different for both locations. I thought I would be easy to just query AD for the machines in eat locations OU and then just use a script that would then loop through that list and add the group. Sadly my scripting skills are still in their infancy and I'm having troubles finding the info I need to query AD in a manner I can understand. What I need to know is how to pull something out of a subfolder in an OU that may be 3 levels deep. I have found several scripts but Iâ??m not sure exactly what Iâ??m looking at. I've written a batch file to map the users home drive once connected to the VPN net use H: \\Server\%username% The problem with the above, the Variable %USERNAME% takes the name from the user who is logged onto the local computer not the user who is connecting to the VPN.     - Date confusion Hi, I am developing a webpage in conjunction with MS access. I use dates as a primary attribute to search for data. However, on somedays the program will work with the date format mm/dd/yyyy and other times it is dd/mm/yyyy and sometimes it will work with both. When it works with both this causes the most confusion. In some parts of the program the application will work with the mm/dd/yyyy format and some other parts with dd/mm/yyyy. However other parts of the program will crash because it is of the wrong format. My question is... Is there some way of making it conssitent throughout the application?     - Scriptomatic 2 fails @ line 452 I'm running Windows XP/SP2 and when I run Scriptomatic 2.0 and select an WMI_Class, I get a script error on line 452 where it's trying to create an "WScript.Network" object. This works fine if I issue the same commands from an VBS file. Do I need to do something special to make HTA's work on my PC? I disabled my antivirus software just in case (wasn't getting an error there), tried changing my security level for local intranets to LOW, nothing seems to work. I would like to create a script that 1- run dos command "net group GROUPNAME /domain" and write it to a textfile 2- Using the textfile of users, run the dos command "net user USERNAME /domain" (using 1 by 1 the user from the textfile in 1) and write it to another textfile 3- Go through the textfile created in 2 and validate certain parameter such as "logon script". Can someone run me through this or point me to a web site that can provide me with the basics on how I can do this type of script. One of my main problem is how I can use the text file created in 1 in 2 since it is output in a tabular format (3 columns) and vbs will read it 1 line at a time. I want to create a custom application that monitors if one or more of the
cables (one end is plugged into the PC's serial port the other end is cut
off exposing the bare wires) on a serial end are connected or disconnected.
Is there a way to enumerate what is going on through the serial cable?
