    - Hightlight a phrase with replace() Hi, I am building a search enginee and I would like to hightlight the keywords or phrase in the search similiar to Google. For one or several keywords are no problem. They are loaded into an array and iterate through with a replace(str, keyword, "<b>" & keyword & "</b>"). My question is how I can do something similar with a phrase within quotes and one or several keywords? ex: "fuelcell batteries for car" energy hydro and have those hightligted in a result text.     - Check for VB Script Support Hi all, I am extremely new to VB Script and am in a sitation that I need to work with a VB Scrip DOM Parser. I know that Mozilla and Opera do not support VB Scripting so I created a function to check the browser if it is compatible or not. Now I need to make another check that if it is Internet Explorer check if VB Script can run on that browser or not? For what should I check please? And it is best to make this function in PHP like the rest of the script or VB Script?     - Bug? Date functions get day & month wrong Hi all, I am using the regional date time settings as English(Australian). That means that my date settings will always display as day/month/year I have an app which I'm entering a date. It's written in VB. When I intercept my field after its been entered and use VBScript to display a msgbox to screen I get funny results which seem to be a VB Script bug. I enter 11/01/2006 (which means in my lingo 11th Jan 2006) I then display msgbox DAY(myfield) & MONTHNAME(Month(myfield)) & YEAR(myfield) and lo I get "1Nov2006". I can also use MSGBOX FormatDateTime(myfield,1) and get Wednesday, 1 November 2006 Clearly they are wrong. I need to get, respectively 11Jan2006 and Wednesday 11 January 2006. HOWEVER!!! As soon as the first two characters of my date are 13 or more then it understands correctly what my date is - that's because there's no months greater than 13 so I guess it's assuming that I need the format changed to d/m/y.     - VBS and Excel (Conditional Formatting) Hi I can use VBS to do most things in Excel (copy/paste/create spreadsheets etc), but I cannot get Conditional Formatting to work. I've googled and haven't came up with anything that relates to VBS, only VBA. The code that Excel makes up from a Macro is: Selection.FormatConditions.Delete Selection.FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlCellValue, Operator:=xlGreater, _ Formula1:="80" Selection.FormatConditions(1).Font.ColorIndex = 3 VBS accepts the .Delete line, but if I try to add one, it comes up with errors using the above code.     - Sql query via a form button on a web page. Hi, I have an area of web page that I do query to display display some information. It is basically a Select statement to display everything in the table, which loops around till everything is displayed. That works fine and dandy. I want to create three buttons to display information for "Past 24 Hours", "Past 72 Hours", and "All Entry's" I am not sure the best way to do this, any ideas?     - Terminating a script / Content missing from MSDN page I'm trying to terminate a process on my local PC using WMI's .ProcessTerminate method. It's returning a value of 2 ("Access Denied"). I can kill the same process from Task Manager without difficulty. I searched MSDN for this situation and came up with the following page: "Terminate Method of the Win32_Process Class" (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmisdk/wmi/terminate_method_in_class_win32_process.asp). This page mentions enabling the SeDebugPrivilege privilege through VBScript to get around this error; however, the the VBScript code that would illustrate how to enable the SeDebugPrivilege privilege seems to be missing from the page!     - Remote Code Execution I'm in a Windows AD environment that isn't very conducive to running startup scripts to achieve my goal. What I am trying to do is copy a vbs script to a remote client machine, and then execute that script on that machine using my credentials. The script itself, when manually run on a client works perfectly. What I can't get to work is the remote execution of the script.     - Restart script for domain users Hi folks, I'm trying to write a script (still not sure it is the best option though) to allow our end users to restart their PCs each night. Here is our scenario: -users do not have access to the command prompt (blocked by GP) -users do not have access to shutdown or restart the computers (blocked by GP) -users do not have admin rights -we want user's to reboot their systems every night without having the option to shut the machine off Now here are the two options I think we have, I would prefer the first but I'm working on the second at the moment: 1) Use group policy to bock access to Shutdown but allow access to Restart. Alternatively we could do this by a reg hack but I don't have any clue how to do it either way. 2) Create a script that we can place on each user's Start Menu to reboot the computer. This script would need to run with elevated privileges (we have an account we can use which has access to reboot the workstations). I'm really new to scripting so I'm kind of fumbling my way along here but I have managed to write a script (with help from a couple sites) that reboots a test workstation using alternate credentials but the command prompt is not blocked on that system. When I do block it, the script doesn't work - says action blocked by policy. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can go about doing this? Now my second question on this script. As I need to embed the username and password in the file, is there any way to prevent users from being able to view this account information (we have a couple savvy folks). And my last question (I promise) - when I double-click on the script while logged in as a regular user (not power user) it doesn't work but if I launch it from a command prompt it does. When I double click on it as administrator it works with no problems. How do I get around this? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!! A .vbs script is allready working and this script works in an html application too.     - Event Log Backup and Clearing I had a requirement to create a script that backups Event Logs in text and monitor for specific events, emailing the results to a person.     - Checking if a file is opened Hi, I am looking for a solution to find out if a file is opened in a windows (NT oder W2k or XP) application. For office documents it seems to be clear: trying to open the document exclusively - if that is succesful, the document is not opened. But what can I do if I want to know if, for example, a text file is opened in notepad? If you want you can rename or delete the file while it is opened in notepad. I think it's the same for documents in wordpad or images in paint. In this case the file always can be opened exclusively. Maybe it is possible to run a VBScript that checks the running aplications and their window titles? But thinking about that I see two problems: 1. consider 2 text files c:\dir1\test.txt and c:\dir2\test.text (same file names but different directories. If both of these files are opened in notepad I would have two windows using the same title "test.txt - Notepad". Is there a chance to find out which file is opened in which notepad? 2. Consider applications that open all documents in one window. In this case you will have only one application window using different window titles depending on the document that is in front. I have used several pdf creators. Most operate as a printer.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/
Since you can select a printer and print to a printer in VB, this type of
PDF creator might be usable from VB - if not it's still usable - just choose
it as a printer.
