 - Attendee availability online Can anyone tell me how to go about creating my own custom ASP page that can show several different peoples availability from their Outlook/Exchange 2000 calendars?  - French Characters in ASP form Hi there, Server: IIS 5.1 CDONTS I have a form that is available in English and French. We use CDONTS to send the form results via email. There is no problem displaying French characters on the ASP page but when someone fills out a form and uses a French character as in Montréal, the form results end up being Montr=E9al.  - Problem with the space in Session variable Hi, I have a web page that displays records from tables in a database. It is designed to store field's value into Session variables before it displays into a text box. This record can be edited and/or deleted. The problem arises when one of the fields contains spaces between the letters. When it stores into the database, after editing, the space stores as a Question mark. Now, these question marks can only be seen using web interface on my main computer. The only way to see them from any other computer would be to use non-web application.  - User password properties A couple of related puzzles: The first script almost works. I'm trying to create a number of users (in a separate script for this purpose) and enable their account and set their passwords not to expire. The create-account script (not shown) works fine. This part, whether integral to the create-account script or stand-alone, manages to do the second if statement, but not the first. If I swap the if statements it still does the second, but not the first. What would cause it to do that? Is it the case that you can only do one operation at a time?  - Window Server 2003 and Wscript - Shell.Run set oShell = Wscript.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell") ----oShell.Run "\\SERVER\share\WindowsServer-hotfixe-xxx.exe -q -f -o",0,true I'm using the above code to install hotfixes on a server (obviously its a bit more involved than this), and with NT4, 2000, and XP, I can do this and it runs fine. With 2003, it pops open a security dialog box asking me if I "really want to run this". I understand this from a virus protection/trojan standpoint, but it basically halts my server builds since I can't update server 2003 unattended. Batch files don't seem to have this limitation, but that isn't a possibility for what I'm doing. Is there some reg hack I can do so that I can turn this security feature off?  - How to Scroll to bottom of a TEXTAREA box? I would like to know how to do the equivalent of the VB6 ThisForm.MyTextArea.SelectStart = Len(MyTextArea) to always push up from the bottom of my textarea when I add items. I can't find a way to find length or anything else that would point me to the bottom and keep that line the last line.  - VBS Getting its Process ID I know I must be missing it in the documentation, but I can't find it. Is there are way for a VBS script to determine its process ID? There may be multiple wscript.exe running, so I can't just look for wscript.exe in the process table. If I was running XP, I am running NT, I could use the CommandLine Parameter.  - Set obj = Nothing -- Unneeded? Ok, after browsing the VB6 usenet archives, I think I'm pretty clear that in most cases Set obj = Nothing has little value. (I did read the counter aruments, but found them unpersuasive.) So, is this also true for VBScript? (Assuing version 5.0 +). I've tried to be religious about using it (in my ASP / VBScript coding), but I'm ready for a conversion. Frankly, I'd like to avoid using it, especially in error-handling.  - Changing permissions in folders Hello How I can change the permissions for all subfolders in the same folder with a script? I have Windows 2000 Server and when I add manualy a home directory for a user, a folder will be created with specific permissions (administrator and the user get full control). Now, I create the users with a script and must create the folders with a script too. I suppose it is easy to create the folders, but I want to change the security tab as well. How to do this? Please, if it is not require too much work, can you write a script to me (I am a beginner so it will do much help to me with a script)?  - Add link to My Network Places I am trying to automate adding links to "My Network Places". I am not able to simulate the way the OS creates this link. I am able to create a shortcut using the WshShortcut object, but that does not have the same affect. I also saw some info on rundll32 netplwiz,addnetplacerundll, but I do not see a way to automate this. Anyone have any info on this?  - BUG : Attributed ATL and VBScript(Script Control) There is a serious reference counting bug which can occur when using Attributed ATL components inside the Microsoft Script Control. This problem seems to be caused by the fact that internally __VariantChangeType may change the dispatch parameters passed on the Invoke stack, and this is either not allowed, or is unexpected by the Script Control. For example, if a component has a LONG (VT_I4) property, and this property is set by passing it an object (VT_DISPATCH), __VariantChangeType will perform the type conversion, but in the process will also cause the reference count of the passed IDispatch interface to be decremented. I believe the script control is not expecting this, and either does not correctly AddRef the interface before the Invoke call, or will do a Release on it afterwards. This problem does not exist in IDispatchImpl<> which does not change the parameters on the Invoke stack. To reproduce this problem Create a simple attributed ATL component that has a single LONG default (DISPID_VALUE) property. In FinalRelease, get the component to display a message box to indicate that it is being deleted. Create a Visual Basic application that uses the Microsoft Script Control. The script code to be run should set the component default value using the line "obj=obj". This will cause the default value to be retrieved from obj and then set using a parameter type of VT_DISPATCH rather than VT_I4. The script code should be run in response to clicking a command button, after a few clicks, the component reference count will go to zero and delete its self after displaying the message box.  - Server Side Includes Im trying to use SSI because I have a top and bottom that I want to show up on ever page. I made both the top.asp and bottom.asp page, then I have the index.asp. In the index.asp i use the following code:  < html code goes here... blah blah blah... >  I get the following error: The include file ''top.asp'' was not found. /newss/index.asp, line 2 I get the same if I take out the SSI for the top.asp and replace it with the bottom.asp The weird thing is, I have done this before and just copied and pasted the code and changed the files. Any ideas what could be wrong?  - reload SQL Data when Data Changes Hi, I'm running a company intranet and the portion in question is the company message board. Its becoming a very integral part of company discussion on most of our projects. What I would like to be able to do is have it so that a user can leave the message board opened and minimized and have it alert him in some way when something new has been posted. Unfortunately i dont want to just keep auto-refreshing the page at certain intervals because i'm concerned about xp users (if it refreshes it'll start flashing at them even if there is no new data, this could get annoying). Is there a way to alert the page when posts occur or have the page check the SQL database every so often without fully refreshing the page unless there is a change to the database? I'm currently working in vbscript with some javascript thrown in on some pages so an answer in either of these languages would work for me. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!  - HELP! Passing from database to asp page allowing user input then sending to another database My big problem is I'm a newbie working with someone else's code.(See code below) What I want to do is for the records that have a purchase order number I want a text box at the end of the line of information that a user may or may not place a date into. (You'll notice that there are two sets being drawn into my page that have Purchase Order.) If the user does enter a date, when they hit submit I want that data to be sent to a database along with that line of information. The trouble I'm having is making sure that each record line is being checked and then sent. If anyone could help with any part of this, I would really appreciate it.  - Passing database info to a page allowing user input and passing to another database Hi I really am going crazy! I'm using VBScript, ASP, and SQL My page reminds me of a shopping cart but looking at shopping cart examples has not helped! What I have is a page that brings in products ordered by a certain company. Along with those values, I'm creating a text box at the end of each record that a user may or may not enter in an estimated delivery date. If the user does enter in a date I want that row of data submitted to a table with that date. First of all I need to check to see if the user has entered anything in the text boxes. I was trying to go through them with a for next loop using document.form.elements.length as my ending count but that did not seem to work. Also another problem I am facing is making sure all the records on the page are being looked at. I wanted to put my if request.form("submitTop") <> "" underneath where my recordset is open, but this too does not work. So what I need to happen when the submit button is hit is: A way to check and see if something is entered in a text box, if it is then add that line of data pulled from my first table and the user input estimated delivery date value into a new table. I need to make sure I go to each record in my list to check to see if anything has been entered in the text box. Thank you very much.  - printing iis/asp hello all. i want to create an output document from an ASP page. i would like to read data from a database AND based on a login, route the formatted output(line by line) to a network printer. i have all the network printer name's in a database table. i think i want to use WSH and ADO running under IIS, to connect to a network printer, and pull the data from the database and iterate thru a "printer write" routine.. can anyone help?.. any ideas?. i cannot find any documentation in WSH about writing to a network printer. i see much about creating a connection to a network printer, nothing about how to use the connection.  - how to find domain controller? Our company has an Intranet served from one central location with offices located throughout the country. Many of the files available for download are mirrored at the local offices to conserve bandwidth. How can I determine where the user is and have them download from the local source? Since each office has its own domain controller I was thinking there might be a way to detect where they are located. Right now everyone has a mapped drive set to their local file server. Some users are complaining that the drive letter assigned for this is interfering with other software. I'm looking for a vbscript solution to determine the domain controller from inside IE.  - frame events attachment duration Hi all, I've made a client-side HTA application page including an Iframe ("myiframe") to navigate on the Web and get and parse content. To detect that myiframe has finished loading the Web pages and I'm allowed to parse content, I used myiframe.onload event with intrinsic attachment, just declaring sub myiframe_onload() ' mycode end sub Everything was fine until I had problem on different PC because IE version 5.0 doesn't fire Iframe onload event (this event fires only from IE 5.5)! So I try to use myiframe.document.onreadystatechange and onclick event but this is a very hard work to learn how and where to place them. I think these events are attached as long as the document is the same. If the document is changed (because a navigation) the attachement is void, so we have to attach the new document events again. I think also these events must be attached after navigation has been programmed because attachment is sticked to a particular document. For onclick event, I use a settimeout statement with a 2 seconds delay after the navigation id asked. 2 seconds is fine because I don't think the user may click the document before 2 seconds after unload. But for onreadystatechange it's more difficult to fix the right delay because sometimes the Web answer is slow, sometimes not (specially if the server use caching) And of course, I navigate to Web pages which have frames... and I have to wait all frames are loaded. Or if there is a resource pointing as Outlook 2003 and Inserting HTML into email that would be good. I have a strange problem, function is below for anyones help. I wrote an application where part of it creates a vb6 report saves it to disk as a html report, then reads it back into a string and puts it into an outlook 2000 email msg and saves it to draft folder. This has worked perfictly for 2 years using Outlook 2000 , Now client has upgraded to Outlook 2003 and puting html into email is giving range results. When the outlook message via my code issues a 'myItem.Save' a blank body is created in draft folder address & Subject are filled out ok When I look at source of saved email it only has header html code nothing else. If I pass a standard text file not HTML into 'myItem.HTMLBody' it does the same a blank emial body To further confuse the issue, If I change 'myItem.HTMLBody ' to 'myItem.Body' and pass either the html file or plain text file is puts it into the message correctly and saves it but html is not rendered of course.. My question do I have to handle HTMLBody different in outlook 2003 than 2000. Can someone offer some sugestions or enlightenment on my problem,. I am trying to open outlook using mailto; in an ASP page,
my list is dynamic, the number of users can be anywhere
form 200 to about 900. HWhen I have list of about 200 I am
succesful, but anywhewre 300 and above monthingf happens.
