    - MSI: Scripting Problem Hello world, I try to call a VBS script as a custom action from within an MSI installation. But when I access the WScript object in my script, it will not run, and the MSI installer will exit with an error message (even if the script runs fine when called directly via wscript.exe). I now suspect that the Windows Installer MSI system has its own scripting host and does not use WSH so that the WScript object is not available. Am I right? The point why I wanted to access WScript is that I need access to the "CustomActionData" that the MSI passes to my script. (I believed that the "CustomActionData" is passed in form of command line arguments, and therefore wanted to access it via WScript.Arguments.) Could anyone please tell me how to go to access the "CustomActionData" that is passed from MSI installers to VBS scripts? Is there a working alternative for the WScript object?     - w2k CDO AddAttachment Hello, I am successfully sending emails with attachments using CDOSYS (CDO for windows 2000). I use the AddAttachment method and pass a url to a web page in our system that produces reports. Is there any way the link used in AddAttachment can pass variables to the body part or the message? The most obvious would be http header variables returned in the response - but i haven't had any success with these, the AddAttachment method seems to ignore them(inspecting ADO Fields collections reveals the standard settings). Any ideas? The reason I want to do this is to inspect a record count to determine if the mail should be sent, at this stage it looks like I'll have to hide it in the report and pull it out of the body part's ADO stream.     - Enumerate installed Certificates through VB Script All Im wanting to query the certificates installed in the trusted rootCA on the local machine when running through a VBScript. Now this can be queried using the certutil.exe utility, however Im hoping that we can connect to and query the certs through VBScript .... The reason I want to acheive this is that the client is wanting to ensure that only certified SOE machines are connecting to the network remotely and this will be part of the VPN Quarantine through 2003.     - Variables set in one script to be avaible in other scripts Hi, I want to define and set variables in one script, but have value contained in those variables available in other scripts that run after it... Here is a little more detail : I have 1 logon script that calls upon 5 other scripts, depending on group membership and other conditions... 1 of those 5 scripts sets variables for some applications, the problem is that the value contained in those variables are not available to other script... Here is an example of the script containing the variables : Public Appvar1 ( chosen public instead of DIM, thought it would make it available to other scripts ) Appvar1 = "123456" In other scripts, I put the content of this variable into en environment variable : Set WshEnv = Wshshell.Environment("User") WshEnv("NameApp1") = Appvar1 if I put both the first part and second part in the same script, it works, my problem is that the script containing the variables will be modified frequently by about 20 different people, but don't want them to modify and mess up the other more complex script... I found a nice script which i think will work but need to modify it a bit i think. I can find my way around javascript but not vbsript. I have an html button that, when pressed, will call this script. I want to embed this into my .hta file so when the button is pressed, it calls this function and i can select a folder.     - Windows NT 3.x detection Hello World, Torgeir posted a link to an approach to determine the OS version by reading registry values (see "VBScript Beginner's Questions"). However, the function does not seem to account for Windows NT 3.x versions. Question: May the "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CurrentVersion" value also be used to detect Windows NT 3.x versions?     - VB Script that sets and load environment variables Hi, I have a script that set environment variables in the following way : Set WshEnv = WshShell.Environment("USER") WshEnv("Appvar1") = xyz This works ok, and when going to the User's Environment variables section on the computer, all the custom variables are there, but the problem is they don't seem to be already loaded into memory or the value doesn't seems to be loaded by the OS... Here is why I think this : If I go to start/run, and type %Appvar1%, it gives me a message, and in that message %Appvar1% appears, and not the value of it...If I go and type a set in a command prompt, "Appvar1" is not present... But if I go into the User's Environment variables section on my computer/ Properties / Advanced / Environment Variables, I see them, If I click on OK / OK, then the variables are now seems to be loaded, and I can use them... They appear in Set command and typing %Appvar1% on the Run menu comes back with the value of it... Can anyone tell me how to set or reload user's environment variables so they are seen by the system as soon as the script is done... I'm running a simple script that: - Launches an app - AppActivates the app (using a loop until it is loaded) - sleep for a second - then sends keystrokes to the application. As soon as the script errors out and I close it...the app comes alive. I'm assuming that the app and wscript.exe are running in the same memory space and are interfering with each other. Is there a way to run the script in its own memory space so it will not interfere with the app. Or is there another problem that I'm missing?     - .Net collection indexer not working I have a .Net control that I'm accessing, and I've gotten most of it to work. However, my last piece gets a user object, and it is failing when I try to access one of its roles via the following: set Role = user.Roles(1) The error I get is: Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A01C2) Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment: 'user.Roles' I've looked at the user.Roles object in the watch window, and it has 5 elements, although dragging any item into a watch gives the same error.     - Code help needed I am running this very basic query from an ASP application: select * from SimpleResultSet where column1 >= 1 or column2 >= 1 or column3 >= 1 or ...column30 >= 1 As you can see this will return records where at least one of the columns is >= 1 and possibly all of the columns are >=1 This gives me the results I am looking for, but now I would like to sort the record set based upon the number of columns that actually ARE >=1 So if I have a 10 records that are returned, I would like the first record that is returned to be the one with the most columns that are >=1 and the last record to have the fewest number of columns that are >=1.     - DNS lookup... I have a web page that queries a database returning a recordset containing a whole series of URLs (host headers). I want to display these in a table with one of the columns holding the current I.P. address for each URL.     - Suggestions On Storing Values I need to store lots of varibles for a web page I am creating. The problem is that these values change as the person goes through the site. I would like to know if there is a sure fire way I can change SOVs so that the values stick. Passing varibles in the querystring are far to cumbersome. I have a list of files generated by winzip on one textfile if I open it
using notepad it displays correctly but when I use the file system object
opentextfile and readall and send it through email the display is different
from using notepad the alignment is not the same. Any idea how not to mess
up the alignment?

That's probably because of the line wrap in your e-mail. What e-mail
component are you using?
