    - Multiple record retrieval and updating I am trying to write a web app to assist in our stock take. I need to know how to pull all our inventory out of SAP and display it on a page, with an input filed for each item where the count for that item can be entered. I've put together this small script which should be able to list devices with an errorcode <> 0, but for some reason it doesnt list devices with errorcode 1.     - ignoring a wildcard statement We are trying to execute and if then part of our script against a wildcard, but it is not working and only executes the process if we enter the whole computer name and not the variable.     - Script Error All, I am looking for some insight for a problem I am having in doing a series of calls to AD to populate a recordset. The error I receive is: (null): The server is not operational. On this line of code: Set objTarget = GetObject("LDAP://" & strDN & "," & Domain) This usually happens on the 1979 to 1984 call to AD. I have rebuilt the workstation (XP SP2) and the DC (WIN2K SP4) is a saved state virtual machine I can roll back to a baseline at will. Everything was running fine up to a couple days ago and I have reverted the code to a state that runs fine, but there is no functional difference in the current to the reverted code. ADUC will not pull up properties on a Group for a couple minutes after the error, displaying the "Server is not Operational" message on a blank object window. I have run traces on the workstation and server and nothing is out of the ordinary. I am stumped, in 6 years of ADSI this one is a new one on me. I am sure there is some boneheaded error or something I am overlooking. Any insight as to where I am going wrong is appreciated.     - Script for inventory - will not pull Mac address?? OK I had posted earlier regarding an inventory script, which is now working great hurray! However once piece of the puzzle, in fact the last bit of information I need from the machines on our network, refuses to show up. Mac addresses keep coming back as blank - not even null, just blank!     - USB - How can I ??? I have at least two USB devices providing service to/for at least two disk drives. One is an external drive plugged into one of the USB ports on my Koutech F7210 card reader: 4 types of memory cards = 4 drives being used, through just one (1) USB controller ( I think ). 2 USB ports 2 Firewire ports 1 external SATA port My basic problem is that when the PC boots up, my card reader uses/creates four (4) disk drives, one for each of the memory card types the system can deal with. I only have Compact Flash cards. Can I, and if so, HOW can I, disable three (3) out of the four (4) drives? ( BEFORE or AFTER the disk drives are created makes no differnece to me. I'd just like to be able to automate this process, if the capability exists. ) In fact, I want to **STOP** three (3) out of the four (4), so the three (3) "extras" will disappear. I've read elsewhere about disabling the external drive capability altogether, say for flash drives and such. But I don't want to get rid of ALL my USB drives, just "some" of them. Does anyone know? The loginscript must access data in a MSSQL-database on each logon... The question: how do i connect to the MSSQL-server from the vbscript in a "secure" way? The "easy"(and IMO _wrong_) way is to store the connectionstring directly in the source of the script...But anyone who has a bit of computer knowledge will be able to view the source of the loginscripts and see the username/password for the SQL-server...     - Upload to an sftp server using vbscript Hello All, I am going to try this again. I apparently posted this in the wrong group before and was 'politely' told to post it here. This question isn't simple and I have noticed often people ask for more information so I will give you the whole story upfront: I recently started a new job and in the past they have solved a lot of simple tasks by utilizing vbs files. I am pretty fluent in Visual Basic but a little new to vbs files so this has been an 'interesting' transition as it is. Currently I have a vbs file that runs a rather elaborate query against an SQL server, the data is exported to a csv file and then emailed to a client. This vbs file actually works really well, however the client has requested that we start uploading it to an sftp site instead. Instead of reinventing the wheel I assumed that I could replace a few email lines of code with a few ftp commands. I researched the web and found several examples utilizing ftp.exe. Through further research I found that ftp.exe offers no support for a port higher than 21. Therefore I assume that ftp.exe offers no support for sftp. Can anyone offer me a solution that will allow me to upload to an sftp server without rewriting this code in some other format!     - VBScript and FileSystemObject I have a website that allows FileSystemObject to be used on files on the website itself. But when I use WriteLine to try and add to the file, nothing happens and the file has not been changed. It works when I have it modify the file on my hard drive, but when I try to have it modify the one on the website, it doesn't work. The two files, one called test.htm, and the one with the code that modifies test.htm, are both in the same folder.     - HTA blocked by "safety settings"? I have an HTA that when I run it I get an error: "Safety settings on this computer prohibit accessing a data source on another domain." This error is at the following code line: BinaryStream.LoadFromFile sFileName The program is being run from a network; the file it is trying to load is in the same folder as the HTA; the path and file names are solid; the source file is not password protected.     - Taskbar Magnifier PowerToy The Taskbar Magnifier powertoy is nice but inconvenient because: 1) you have to rightclick on the taskbar, 2) you have to select Toolbars, 3) you have to select Taskbar Magnifier, 4) if you don't like the title "Magnifier" next to it you have to rightclick on it, and 5) you have to uncheck Title To close it is easier but still: 1) you have to rightclick on the taskbar, 2) you have to select Toolbars, 3) you have to unselect Taskbar Magnifier. I would like to have some code to put in a file so when I'll click the shortcut of the file in the Quick Launch toolbar: 1) if the Taskbar Magnifier is closed it will open it an unselect Title. 2) if it is open to close it.     - alternative to Wscript.Quit for use in HTA I have written a simple script to copy some files and then run sysprep. When a file or folder does not exist I use the wscript.quit command to stop the script. In order for my script to be more user friendly I would like to use a HTA. I have searching on the internet for the past 3 days and can not find a answer to this question. How to I quit a vbscript inside a HTA. Now i am stuck into new issue. - I have one script which is running as a service and after 15 mins of its installation time, its giving me desired output. But if i reboot my system within 15 mins I am not getting the output I want. And service is also not starting after boot. I would like to call this from a third party CD Browser authoring tool (AutoPlay by Indigo Rose). I'm able to call the script from a button on our created browser, but I don't know if its possible to pass any information from the script back to the AutoPlay created browser. So, what I was hoping to do was if the extension is not present or not enabled, somehow cause the script to blow out with an error. I think I can store the resulting code from the call in my browser.
