    - Problem with IE7, this script worked on IE6 Here are the first few (or more) lines of code to a script that monitors servers in real time, using IE to show a graphical/not page and indicating status. This worked on IE6 (I did have to tweak the security settings for intranet as I recall). Now it is broke, I don't really use IE7 (Firfox), but I do want my scripts to work in a browser that I expect to be standard. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We need to be able to do the following: After sysprep runs on a server, a script needs to run that will - execute a command at a command prompt (this will add VLANs to our server's NIC, which we are already able to do, but only for one set of VLANs. we have mulitple pools of servers that each use different VLANs), then - retrieve the numbers from the servers name, no matter the name length (we have different pools of servers that have different lengths for their names, but all have 1-3 digits at the end of their name) - apply the numbers to a script (that will assign IPs to the newly create VLANs) using the number as the last octet of, then finally - run an already bat file that will copy all necessary data... any help would be greatly appreciated...i keep trying different things, but as i am in no way a vbs master, i keep hitting dead ends.. thanks!! Hi all, In order to implement a workaround to VPN users who have offline files set up but also need to access all folders when connected remotely, we're having to ask them to do the following (as per KB290523): 1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop. 2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options. 3. On the Offline Files tab, click View Files. 4. On the Tools menu, click Synchronize. 5. Click OK when you are prompted to synchronize. Are there any vbs guru's out there who could post a script to do the above? I wouldn't have a clue where to start as my vbs knowledge is very basic. Display Msgbox "completed" in Frame2 3. set select control item in Frame1 the code worked perfectly well in IE6. Its doing what it is supped to. in IE7, display msgbox is displayed but before that no refreshframe1 happens whereas refreshframe1 happens when click "ok" on the msgbox. Why is it so. I want to be able to access an XML docment which is held at a specific URL, then be able to access each node and grab the data from it.     - Can you use a Recursive sub in vbscript? I need to write a script that resets the permissions on all the folders on the Private drive (for my test I'm using C:\Private\). All the folders within C:\Private should be listed as the user's login name (C:\Private\aadams\). Many of them have different subfolders too. Basically, I need to have the script get the username from the folder name and set (not replace) modify/owner permissions on the folder and its subfolders... This is what I have found and smashed together so far. It sort of works, but only on the first folder...after that it looks like it gets kicked out of the recursive sub (will a recursive sub even in vbscript?...I don't see why not...) and I don't know why. I set up about 3 test folders with different usernames within C:\Private to test the script and each user's subfolder has a MyDocs folder in it as well. I have an access database with a single table and several thousand records added each day.. One of the columns in each record is a file path with file name. Examples: H:\MainFolder\BillyGroup\FloridaFiles\VariousReportNames1234567.txt or H:\MainFolder\SusansGroup\GeorgiaFiles\MoreVariousReportNames1234301.txt There may be about a half dozen different filefolder paths, and the files themselves could be named anything. The file names are variable lengths but always start with alpha characters, and always end with a 7-digit number. and all are text files (.txt) Here is what I want to do: I want to extract only the file name in each record. and copy the filename to either a field or variable to use in code in another part of this project, or copy just the filename (minus the folder path) to another text file that I can work with.     - question re: user account creation script I am almost finished creating a user creation script for a school. It reads data from a csv file to create all the attributes etc. 1. The user is instructd to first create a spread sheet with appropriate colums and then convert that to a csv file and then a txt file. The instructions also say to strip any characters other then alphabetical characters (e.g. hyphen, comma, and space) from the names. (If removing is a lot of work, I can cancel the creation of that particular user account and write a note to the log file.).     - getting screen width and height broke recently Guys, For years I've had the code below to get screen size in a script to move an agent character around: With CreateObject("htmlfile").parentWindow ScreenWidth = .screen.width ScreenHeight = .screen.height End With I now get an 'Access Denied' on the second line. Not AV or IPS software causing it as we can duplicate the problem on a test box without those installed. PCs have IE6SP2 or IE7 installed.     - How to escape out of a loop Hi, I have a vbscript that checks through large text files looking for this and that. I loop through the lines using the Do while not EndOfTextStream() function. Some of these files are huge. Sometimes I realise that I need to stop the prog. Is there a way I can programme combination of keys to escape from the loop ? Some other method ? Hello everybody.

I need to detect when files in a folder has been successfully copied to a
remote machine via an FTP GET originated in that remote machine. I have no
access or control over the server initiating the transfer so I have to
monitor events in the server that stores the files. Maybe a WMI Management
Class bound to FTP will do, but I have no found info yet.
