    - removing the "password never expires" setting from AD accounts Hello, I have a script which goes through local accounts (on member servers and professional workstations) and ensures the password never expires option in NOT set. Now I'm trying to convert this script to work on domain controllers with active directory accounts. Basically the script enumerates all the accounts in Active Directory and then attempts to unset any password never expires options. Where I'm having problems is the conversion between the WINNT and LDAP providers. Line 8 (which is commented out) in the script below is from the working, local accounts, version of the script. Line 9 is my attempt to translate line 8 for use with Active Directory accounts. Lines 13-18 are directly from the other script too. I'm running this script from my local machine (2003 server) and try to connect to the exchange on a different server.     - Empty file problem Hello all, I created a cheap download script to download files. It works great on almost ever user we have, except for a few. I think there is some type of configuration problem on the server or browser, but I wanted to check with you guys first. Here is the script.     - Loop through dictionary object I am writing a script that reads and test file, and then creates a dictionary based on set criteria. Each key that is added to the dictionary is appended with a number. This bit works OK. What I then need to do is output the data held in the dictionary, based on the first letter of the dictionary key. I need to do some sort of loop through the dictionary, that will look for all intances starting with "1", then all starting with "2", until it reaches the end of the dictionary. This piece of script will echo each key starting with "1", but I then need it to loop and show "2" etc etc. I have tried adding a Loop function, with an incremental counter i.e. n=0, n=n+1, but it's not quite doing what I need.     - How to use vbscript to copy a header from one Word document to another I'm having trouble figuring out how to use vbscript to copy a header from one Word document to another. Hi, I have a few questions regarding use of the Microsoft Windows Scripting engine in a Visual Basic (classic) application. I am writing an application in VB6 Pro. that will be widely distributed (Windows 98 and up). Some parts of the application make use of the Microsoft Script Control (msscript.ocx). I understand that it is possible for end-users to disable the "Windows Scripting Host" and that it is a somewhat common thing to do due to security issues. This brings up a few questions: 1) Is this the only way possible to disable scripting on the system? If not, what else should I look out for? 2) If scripting is disabled, will the code executed by the Microsoft Script Control fail to run? Or is the Script Control independent of that system setting? 3) Is there any way to programmatically find out if scripting has been disabled? I realize that I could find out some of these answers myself if I had access to a test system where scripting was disabled. What steps can I follow in order to disable scripting on my test machine? Finally, is the Microsoft Script Control dependent on any other files? I scanned the file with Dependency Walker and could not find anything. Also, I found the following post by Randy Birch on June 8 of last year, that states: "It can be redistributed, as stated in MSKB article Q190978 (talking about a missing dependency error when using the package & deployment wizard to include msscript.ocx. Specifically, it states "RESOLUTION: In the case of a control such as MSSCRIPT.OCX, which does not need any additional files to be distributed with it, the message regarding "Missing Dependency Information" may be safely ignored."     - ie.Navigate can't deal with certain types of addresses If I put the simple code below into a .vbs file and run it, it should bring up a new IE window, put up an alert box, then change IE's title. And it does on my (gasp) unpatched Win 2K Pro system. However, if I run the same script on my patched Win XP Pro system, IE disappears, but fast, when the ie.navigate is hit. I'm the sole owner/operator with administrative privileges on both machines. Now I figure this is a security issue since if I write the long string that js contains directly into (the XP) IE's address bar, it is fine with that. So if that's the case, how do I get IE to allow me to programatically muck with it? In particular, what I'm asking is: given that I manually start a specific program (myProgram.vbs in this case, but it could just as well be PHP acting on myProgram.php) how can I designate that I want other programs to treat it as my fully empowered, authorized agent?     - How does Logon work and can U REALLY Delete the SWAPFILE? Firstly I must mention that this is for a stand alone PC, no network backbone. When the PC starts up I have a couple of vbs scripts that run, one is for turning the NumLock on and I have tested 2 solutions. Both the recommended MS solution of applying NUMLOCK using... WshShell.SendKeys "{NUMLOCK}" and the second one using KLOCK, using the KLOCK +n parameter in a RUN function, work reasonably well. The second script is one that is a personal tweak and applies icons to the partitions and drives on the PC. Writes to.. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\C\DefaultIcon HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\C\DefaultLabel providing an icon and a label for the partition/drive. What I am experiencing is a failure to fully deploy the drive icon script and intermittent delivery of the Numlock script. The problem exists when i logoff as the user and later log back on as that same user. No shutdown has occurred. I have tried delivery of the scripts via the GPEDIT.MSC and adding them into the STARTUP area - this only seems to work on startup. I have added the scripts into the STARTUP (AllUsers) area and again only seems to work on initial startup. The only thing i can think of is that once the system starts up these scripts are passed to the SWAPFILE and thus remain here and so the system might be led into falsely believing that they have been correctly deployed. If so then does this leave a security loop hole? I believe so. Which brings me to my next question, does anyone know how to delete the SWAPFILE on system bootup. And i don't mean clean/purge the swapfile on shutdown. It actually takes longer to purge the swapfile than it does to delete it and recreate itself on startup by about 70%-80%. Is there a way to actually delete the swapfile prior to startup which is my preference, or even on shutdown. Now i don't want to go and use a boot floppy to 98 or similar, as that is not a real solution if the system is logged on and off several times a day.     - atendofstream checking input stream [in fact its end] with "atendofstream" it happens to me, when stream is dynamic [so its length is not known, but depends on characters arrive in the meantime], script simply blocks. i should expect that script is perfectly aware of input buffer content, and how much chars are left unread, and when buffer is empty and new characters arrive, so i should expect that "atendofstream" changes from "true" to "false" but, instead, when checking "wshell.exec.stdout.atendofstream", at the position "last+1", not existant character, system simply blocks! is it expectable, or i miss something? thanks. I'm writing a script which creates printers with the PrnAdmin.dll. This
means that I can't control the entire configuration of the printer. I'm
beginning to wonder about the alternatives.

Have anybody any experience with creating printers by editing the registry?
Or have you tried to create the printer and then modify the registry to
configure the printer (setting proper defaults).

Ayy suggestions and hints will be most welcome.
