    - Playing with multidimensional array!? Hi! I need to play with a multidimensional array in VBScript, but I`m about to turn crazy with the way they are implemented into VBScript! I need to start with an empty array, and start filling it with two dimension data like: Row 1, Column 1 = mailbox.LegacyDN Row 1, Column 2 = mailbox.ServerName Row 1, Column 3 = mailbox.LastLogonTime Row 1, Column 4 = mailbox.Size Row 2, Column 1 = mailbox.LegacyDN Row 2, Column 2 = mailbox.ServerName Row 2, Column 3 = mailbox.LastLogonTime Row 2, Column 4 = mailbox.Size and so on... and after gathering all mailboxes informations on all Exchange Servers, I will be able to match Active Directory Users by seeking this table for the corresponding ExchangeLegacyDN. Actually, I'm defining the array with Dim aMailboxes(), and adding data to it by using the REDIM PRESERVE, but where I'm really confused, it is how the REDIM the two dimension and after that, assigning values to the new Row added... someone expert or familiar with that could help me?     - How Can I Delete blank lines from a Text file? Hi, I have a text file with hundreds of blank lins scatered through out the file. How Can I Delete the blank lines.     - Silly VBScript IsDate problem I haven't used VBScript in a couple of years. I have a textbox and a custom validator on the screen. The validator calls a vbscript function ValidateDate which uses IsDate to validate incoming date strings. It will catch gross errors like letters but it's passing date strings like '13/12/2007'. I don't remember having this problem before. My machine's regional setting is English (US).     - For Each loop writing on same line Hello, I have a script where I read an input file, which contains a bunch of URL strings of differing sizes. I split each element into an array based on the slash ("/"). After that, I take one of the elements from the array, and change it to another, and then put the URL string back together. The issue I'm having is when I put it back together in a for each loop, it writes each element onto its own line. Also, at the end of the line it puts a slash at the end. How can I get each element to print on the same line, also omitting the final slash? Here's the snippet of my code that does all this work... Any help is greatly appreciated!     - DOS program does not run - Help please As part of a much larger script I am trying to get some of the Local security settings on a server using the DUMPSEC program. The program resides on the local systemdrive of the server, though I would prefer running it from the mapped drive where the script resides. In either case my code does not run the program. If I run the command from the command line the output file is created. When I run the following code the script hangs and the output file is never created. The copmuter txt file has all the servers listed. 1 per line in the form of: \\servername1 \\servername2 The servers are scattered throughout the country and we have many point to point vpns.     - When vb script finishes, still have to wait several seconds before All, I have a VB program that executes several scripts in sequence... so it has to wait for each script to finish before the next one runs. The scripts themselve take only a few seconds to run, however it takes several seconds before the command prompt is returned and the window is closed (and the vb program can continue). Why is it that when a script finished, it still takes several seconds before the command prompt is returned? Is there a way to solve this. Running my vb program takes a lot of time now... mostly waiting for scripts to close. Any help would be appriciated.     - Passing value to/from VBScript to Windows form application I have tried to create a simple windows form program in c# (assembly:comvisible=true). What i want to do, is to start this windows program from a vbscript, pass some arguments and show them in the windows program. Although they seem to see/handle any arguments passed when run via the command prompt, the arguments are apparently not making it through when the same script is run as a scheduled task. I have approximately 4000 CD's I need to copy to a local hard drive. In the process I need to keep track of how much time it takes to copy each CD which consist of one file to multiple files and folders. I also need to verify the Checksums against each other with MD5sum.exe. Optimaly I would like to create a log file that is appended each time with all that information. I have it working where it adds the group if it doesn't exist and writes success to a spreadsheet, if the server is not pingable it writes "server unreachable" and moves on. The problem is if the group already exists, it will fail stating the group already exists. Just a scfipt to copy user settings from an old profile to a new profile. Prior to launching the script, the userprofile folder is manually renamed from "Username.Domain" to "_oldUsername.Domain", and a new profile manually created.     - Bizarre AT scheduling behaviour Here is some Thanksgiving weirdness. Maybe someone has some comments: If you schedule a task in a simple way with AT (e.g. AT 16:42 cmd "/K dir"), after it runs, it will delete itself. Now it might be the case that I want to schedule a task (with AT) and have it run right away. I could schedule the task for the next minute (e.g. it is 10:03:23 so I would schedule the task for 10:04. AT and SchTasks granularity is to the minute, at least on Win XP). But suppose that I am an impatient type of individual, begrudging those wasted seconds. In that case, I would do the following: AT 16:42 cmd "/C" dir => I get back a task id, say 29. And then, Schtasks /run /tn 29 => task runs immediately. Nifty. Now here's the bizzaro behaviour. If the task has been scheduled for less than about 60 seconds from now, it will be automatically deleted after the second line! Otherwise, the task sticks around and will be run (again) at the indicated time. If you right click on the tasks scheduled with AT in the above fashion, it says, "Delete the task if it is not scheduled to run again." So I would really like to understand the exact circumstances under which this mysterious deletion is occurring. Ie. comments are welcome. Interesting, but not bizarro behaviour: In keeping with the "Impatient Script" theme... What I actually wanted was for the task to be deleted after I had forced a run on it with Schtasks. So, after that Schtasks line, I did: AT 29 /delete Of course I did so programmatically with two invocations of WScript.Shell's Run command. The task never executed! Further investigation revealed that the first command executed just fine and SchTasks reported success for the immediate run. Trouble is, by the time the responsible agency actually got around to running the task, that following AT command had deleted it. By a sufficient delay (of half a second!) I was able to execute and then delete the task. But I don't like arbitrary delays, so what I wound up doing was scheduling another task to delete the first one, a fitting if not the most elegant of ends (not elegant because the subsequent task might have to wait up to a minute to dispatch its victim).     - Default Script Host Hello All, I have a strange problem, not sure what to make of it. My default Script Host magically changed from CScript to WScript. My scripts started erroring out as I check the script engine in all my scripts and exit if WScript. I use exstensive use of WScript.Echo and I dont want the OK box. So, naturally, the first thing I did was execute "WScript //H:CScript //S" and it tells me my default script host is now CScript. But not dice, my script still error out. Here is my check ... If InStr(1, LCase(WScript.Fullname), "cscript", 1) = 0 Then I then copied CScript.exe over WScript.exe after saving a copy, and my script still error out, but WScript.Echo is to StdOut, not an OK box telling me it is really using CScript.Exe but WScript.Fullname returns WScript. Wierd. So, I do some googlin, not much there except to execute 'WScript //H:CScript //S",which of course I have done. No dice, engine is still WScript. The only thing I can think of that may have caused this issue was the install of WScript 5.7, I am running XP Pro. So, I install 5.6, same thing. Re-install 5.7, same thing. Even though the //H tells me it has set my default to CScript, it is still WScript. So, I dive in to the registry to : HKCR\VBSFile\Open\Command It is set to CScript. I then look at : HKCR\VBSFile\Open2\Command It is set to WScript. I change it to CScript and my problem is solved. I am not happy with this solution. It is a hack. Why didn't the //H //S option take care of setting my default back to CScript ? Anyone seen this, and more importantly, anyone have the "real" solution ?
