    - How can I adapt WinNT:// Moniker create account to Wbem.Scripting Moniker? Hi, It's easy to connect using WinNT:\\ class and add a user account and add it to the administrators group as seen below in my "create local user account code." But how does one find all the classes for doing this the WBem way? I have found only 1 or 2 WBEM classes and I've used them to connect to a remote computer, supplying alternate username/password using the Wbem Moniker as listed in the bottom script snippet. But once I'm connected using the wbem class, how can I do things like create and modify local accounts on the remote server as listed in the "create local user account code" There seems to be SO LITTLE info on the WBEM classes and methods, like adding a local account. Lots on AD, and lots on using Winmgmt and impersonate, but very little out there on wbem monikers using alternate credentials and the available classes. Anyone have any insights?     - EnumNetworkDrives skips a drive All, I've got a script I'm trying to use to remap drives from one server to another (contingency plan in case the first server has problems). It works great... except it seems to skip a drive on my machine. The code is posted below. When I look in the registry at \HKCU\Network\ I have 4 drives: J, K, Y, Z. However, my script does not appear to look at the J drive. I used WScript.Echo to verify which drives it is analyzing. (BTW, I apologize in advance for the poorly written code! I searched the group several times and to my dis-belief my mail reader did not come up with results. I find this to be very suspicious. Anyway, below are my questions. I'd like to modify registry key permissions with VBS and I would like to do it by using the Win APIs. I have a key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE that I want to give full rights to Administrators and System. I want to give read rights to power users and I want to revoke all other rights for all other users. I've done VB, but am new to VBS so please do not ostercize me for this noob question. I have found how to do this in VB using the RegSetKeySecurity function in advapi32.dll.     - Lookup fields in active directory I have a third party program that creates e-mail signatures which I run from the users login script. Unfortunately the program does not alter the signature template correctly if a field is blank. There's really only one field that I'd want to check: Mobile Phone.     - Using SendKeys to respond to a prompt... Hi- My environment is Windows 2003 Server SP1. Is it possible to respond to a command line confirm prompt using send keys? If so, could someone point me to an example? I've not been able to figure out a way to do this. The scenario is this: I'm using the command line interface of PGP 7.0x to encrypt a file before transferring it and the process prompts for a 'Y' to confirm use of the specified public key. I reviewed PGP documentation and there is no parameter available to suppress this so I'm trying the sendkeys approach as a workaround. I have no problem calling the PGP executable, but I can't get a 'Y' and 'enter' sent to it to get by the prompt.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. As such I cannot see the spreadsheet control and directly access the object properties from the VB code in the back of my page.     - IE sequencing and cookie notification popups Something has been annoying me lately when my script brings up IE and navigates it to certain pages. I am getting multiple popups asking me whether I want to allow cookies from the site, and do I want to uniformly allow free access or block them? What I'm saying is: I don't want to have these cookie notification popups when I am bringing up IE via script, but otherwise they are serving a useful purpose. The problem was that running the template directly from the .vbs file opened the template as a document, instead of opening a new blank document based on the template. So after many trials and errors, finally I got this line both right for cmd.exe and wscript.exe. For cmd.exe, it launched the batch file itself, "%~f0". Instead of using %0, I choose %~f0. For example, you save this vbs.bat in directory D:\test, then you type these commands in cmd.exe D: cd test vbs Stop! Now, %0 is vbs , and for %~f0 is D:\test\vbs.bat ! wscript.exe will not start vbs.bat if you just run wscript -e:vbs vbs Another problem, if I save this vbs.bat in a directory like C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\vbs.bat, quotes are needed to make "Documents and Settings" complete string. So what may wscript.exe regard this line? start wscript -e:vbs "%~f0" "start" here possibly means a undefined Function() or Sub(), it's called with the variant named wscript, after this Function(), it's return value substract "e", "e" here is, maybe, another undefined variant like "wscript". The following : is a colon separating two statements in vbs grammar. The statement on the right of the colon : asks wscript.exe to call a function named "vbs" the the parameter "%~f0". After all, our dear wscript.exe is cheated, and cmd.exe is fooled! Now this little code is using wscript to call itself to run like a real vbs, but, on the other hand, cmd.exe is trying to understand every line of the fake bat file. I have to do something to stop that, using "exit", but in vbs exit is a keyword, you must exit Exit Do, Exit For, Exit Function, Exit Property, or Exit Sub. And to me, Exit Sub looks good, so in the second line of my code I wrote Sub bat cmd.exe may look for a external program called sub.exe, and normally this program does not exist, so go on, after start wscript -e:vbs "%~f0" we Exit Sub To cmd.exe, the batch quits. To wscript.exe, the Sub() exits. And after that End Sub cmd.exe is over now, so wscript will just regard an end of a usual Sub(), but as a bat file, it succesfully launched itself just like a vbs. You may ask: why must I do this after all? I just use a bat to "echo" out a genuine *.vbs file, and wscript that *.vbs and that's all? Truely this is the normal ways people call scripts between bat and vbs. But think about an extra large vbs? I have an experience here. I wrote a vbs that can spawn a 400KB file, the vbs itself is 600KB, and I tried to "echo" out the vbs in a 700KB bat file, what happened? My XP SP2 rush up to 1.5GB memroy cost for 1 minute, and failed to spawn that 400KB file saying: "vbs error in line (2,7): Not enough memory to create a string". If I use the little codez above, wscript will run quite well just like a real vbs. Another advantage of my code is, no tmp file needed for switching between two languages. simply write batch code above start wscript -e:vbs "%~f0" and write vbs code below it!     - Howto read particular fields from a CSV-file Hello, I am completely new to scripting. The problem is I have to come up with some kind of script to read out a particular column from a CSV-file. I only need the last 4 or 5 characters from the information which looks like this for example: Column A Row 1 FR00000FG3AT08 Row 2 FR00000FG3AR06 Row 3 FR00000FG3A402 . . . So what do I need to read out the last few characters? For example ROW1 "G3AT08" Now, if I have this information, I need this information to trigger a printout of a TXT-file wich is saved in a particular folder. The TXT-file hase the exact same characters in ist filname. What I want to do is: Read out the CSV, take this info and trigger a printout of TXT-files saved in a folder on my pc. It=B4s just to synchronize the printorder regarding the order in the CSV-file. Sadly I can=B4t just use some kind of "sort by function" by windows (explorer) cause the files are not in alphanumeric order. One more problem: The CSV is generated by an OCR-process and sometimes has one space in between. The last digits are read out correctly anyway. Can someone help me please? Is there a way to turn on or off the check box within the Network Connection
profile for a wireless adapter that says "Use Windows to configure my
wireless settings"? I am trying to uninstall Thinkvantage Access Connection
and use only the Windows software to create my wireless profiles. I have been
able to create the profiles but need to ensure that the check box for Windows
to control it is on.

A quick regmon looks like you need to be in this area of the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WZCSVC\Parameters\Interfaces\{4C26AF12-7BBE-4833-9C27-3AB221E4F282}

For instance when I adjust my setting the following keys get changed

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WZCSVC\Parameters\Interfaces\{4C26AF12-7BBE-4833-9C27-3AB221E4F282}\LayoutVersion
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WZCSVC\Parameters\Interfaces\{4C26AF12-7BBE-4833-9C27-3AB221E4F282}\ControlFlags
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WZCSVC\Parameters\Interfaces\{4C26AF12-7BBE-4833-9C27-3AB221E4F282}\ActiveSettings

I think one of the keys is the ControlFlags. I will leave it to you to
figure out what needs to be done.
