    - Buring DVD Failure, Cont... I am reposting this because of a concern that it won't be read as a part of another thread which is already a few days down the line. Alex, I appreciate your help and information very much. Further developments: I sussessfully burned that iso image with Nero 7 on the rig with 4GBs but then I decided out of curiosity to repeat it with the script. The burning failed. It seems I got a completely prestine, empty disk. In the task amnager I observer memory usage mounting slightly over 2Gbs but not as much as 2.65 Gbs that could be expected from the source iso file. I suspect there is another issue involved. Perhaps WMI cannot handle such big files no matter what. Nero 7 employed buffering which was evident from the fact that the memory usage never exceeded 800 Mbs as was apparent from a progress bar at the bottom. on this superfast quad it took about 3 min. Thus I've decided to close the issue as far as such huge files are concerned. I dont do any pictures or music. Data files is my only need. I am wondering if you have any experience in handling iso files via any .NET classes or even scripts. I do have Winimage.exe installed and it opened the disk file momentarily and displayed the tree directory but I want to examine other options. I've been looking for a chance to get a handle on iso files one way or another. Perhjaps you know of a web site where the complete file format is described in detail, metadata including.     - MapNetworkDrive not working during first logon Greetings All, I am having a problem with mapping network drives the very first time a user logs onto a computer while their profile is being created. For some reason, during the very first interactive logon when a new user logs onto a PC they do not get their network drives. Other parts of the logon script (vbscript) appear to be working correctly. I can test for group memberhip, display a pop-up message, write to a log file etc. just not map a drive. If I manually run the logon script again once the desktop is up then all of the drives map correctly and every time after that first logon the drives get mapped properly. I have tried explicitly specifying the value for bUpdateProfile instead of relying on the default, which should be false, as indicated here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8kst88h6(VS.85).aspx I have tried enabling userenv logs but I don't really know what to look for and I nothing jumped out as an obvious error. My environment is a Windows 2003 native mode domain, Windows XP Pro with SP2 on the destktops and the logon script is a vbscript that is specified on the Profile tab of the user account in active directory users and computers. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Work arounds would be ok too. Perhaps if there is a way for the logon script to detect that a new profile is being created then I can take some other actions.     - VBScript Regexp Customer Account I have been struggling to find a way to do a regexp.replace in multiple files, if anyone can help? My company downloads a series of files daily. Each file is a single customer transsaction and contains a customer account number that is in the format of the letters "A14*CA" followed by a sixteen digit number on its own line. The customer account number needs to be adited so that the backoffice software that imports the files can read it, but the backoffice software only accepts a ten digit customer account number. So, I need to replace the sixteen digit number with a ten digit number, but the digits my company wants are characters 4-10 following the begining letters above. For example, the customer account line may read "A14*CA4290423634535002" and needs to be replaced with "A14*CA0423634535" and the file needs to be saved. This customer account information is on it's own line but the line number may vary.     - Excel (2007) Conditional Format via VBScript I had a macro in Excel with the a command to Add conditional formatting based on the check if a cells value begins with some predefined text. Selection.FormatConditions.Add _ Type:=xlTextString, String:="apple", TextOperator:=xlBeginsWith Now i will change from having an Excel file with a macro in it, to a VBScript with is creating the Excel file from scratch. As subject really, I'm after the most efficient way of finding out as part of a users login script if they are a member of the Administrators or Power Users group on the machine they are logging in on? Then after a few minutes an exception was thrown from WScript: Out of Memory. After I closed the msg window which was modal the memory consumption wound down slowly and the process was eventually shut down after about a minutes or so. My question is: why? I've burned DVDs before with Windows Media Player with no problem. I've burned some picture images on this machine and attempted to burn iso images but they all came out sort of hollow, although the eventual file size was close to what I expected the data did not seem to be there and I could not use the DVD to install the software. So, I've decided to use a script since I felt that it would give me a better handle on the process. Is it a known issue? Is it possible to improve the script? Are there other scripts out there that can do the same? Nore: the iso image I tried to burn is a MSSqlServer eveloper Edition. I am an MSDN Pro subscriber. I have a page which lists a bunch of project numbers each with an href link to an Excel file whose name is project number.xls on the server. I want to check if the file exists, if it does enable the link else disable the link.     - CDO send: Lost Connection Hi, I'm using the following to send email. It works fine if I attach a text file. However, if I attach a zip file, as shown, I get the following error on the send: "The transport lost its connection to the server." If I send the same attachment via the same server using Outlook, all is well. It only fails when sent using this script.     - Why Can't You Set the PageFile on Server 2008 using VBScript and W Ok, so this is a bit of a wierd one. During our automated build of Windows Server 2008, one of the options we would like to set is the size of the Page File. Because we have servers with lots of RAM and often not large system drives we like to set them manually, this also helps avoid page file fragmentation. In Server 2008, before you can set the page file manually, you need to disable the automatic management of the page file using the win32_ComputerSystem.AutomaticManagedPagefile property. When I set this property to false using either a PowerShell window or WMIC from the command-line it works nicely. However, when I try to set this property using VBScript it fails to save the property. In a perfect world: - A user could enter a properly formatted boolean search string that I could pass to the parser. If a server is not pingable i want to output that to the spreadsheet and move on to the next server in the text file. This script works when i don't test to see if the server is pingable first.
