    - Help with usr.get routine I am trying to write a script that outputs the samaccountname,firstname,lastname - I can get sam account same by using the snippet below but when I try to get the first or last name it reports back a blank/null value.... any advice on getting the first and last name values?     - downloading a hotfix directly from this page via script http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=E8E33441-B6F4-4EE3-AFF6-7CFC19B3354E I'm not sure how to get this done, since the actual location in the page that contains the exe doesn't have a name element defined. Basically, I want to be able to send a user to execute a script from a share and it will download the hotfix automatically from MS (optimistically, this would have the ability to be changed for newer hotfixes down the road). Any ideas? You don't have to supply me the entire script really...just something to get me going in the right direction. Am I missing something totally?     - How to open "Date and Time Properties" window in XP? Howdy, My HP laptop has a bad habit of booting up with it's clock set at 01/01/2004 12:00 AM HP swears they are aware of it and are working on a BIOS update. So, in the interim, I have to remember to check the clock after logging in. I usually forget until I get a warning from MS Outlook about Gmails certificate not being valid until 11 months in the future. So, I've written a vbscript to run each time I log into the desktop that pops up a window if the current date is 01/01/2004 to remind me to change the date / time. I'd like for it to pop up the Date and Time Properties window automatically for me (the one that opens when you double click on the clock). Anyone know how to do this?     - Delays opening documents "http://host/document.doc" The VBScript below times how long it takes to run Word, and open a document. The first time it runs, following power-on or system restart, it takes an order of magnitude longer to open the document than all subsequent runs. I have tried it on three machines. One took 15 seconds to open the document first time around, and then half a second for all subsequent runs. One too 12 seconds for initial opening, and 1.5 seconds thereafter, and my own desk-top too 9 seconds for the first opening, and half a second subsequently. My question is : why so long for the initial document opening? Or in other words, what is it doing first time that it isn't doing all subsequent times? Is it possible for me to trigger whatever the initial document opening is doing, without actually opening a document (in other words "hide" whatever is happening in the first document opening in the login process)? Also ... Is there a WEB site or book that will give me some background to the mechanism being employed to access the document?     - odd behavior I have some scripts in which I use sTemp = objFSO.GetSpecialFolder(2) ' TMP environment variable as the path to a temp web page that displays the script output. I've added code to these scripts that use runas to re-run the script if you choose to query a remote machine and you are not logged in with an administrator account. I'd like to programatically take a large .pst (archive) and split it into
muliple files. The scope would be to split a huge archive into a seperate
archives based on date and create one archive for each year. I'd like to do
this in VB so it could be scripted since I'd like to do this for about 1500
users!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
