    - Moving character Glyphs I modified a C# application from Bob Powell that moves graphics primitives around on the screen into a Vb.NET 2005 application. I want to modify this application so along with moving regular geometric shapes, I can also move the alphanumeric characters as well. For example I place the character "A" on the screen and when I point to it with the mouse the character will be outlined and while holding down the left mouse button move the "A" somewhere else on the screen. Since I learn best by example I wrote another class for the Characters, but it doesn't work. I asked Bob Powell and he suggested I convert the characters to glyphs and hit test these, but since VB.NET's only resembalance to the Visual Basic programming language is in name only I'm now completely lost.     - "Late Binding" error is killing me! I am getting data from a device via UDP packets and they arrive thus: wsInverter.GetData(objData) ' Object required here. I then need to convert each of the returned data of 38 bytes in this packet to their hex values. Decimal would be OK, too, but I can't get to them at all! When I do this simple command, I get an error about late binding being no good with Strict On: i = strData(j) ' Simplified version to reduce options I tried everything I can think of to get to the data. There has to be a way to get to the bytes. The AxMSWinsockLib.AxWinsock wants an object. Any advice appreciated. I would prefer to leave strict on. Yeah, I know, anal retentive! This is probably a good time to get rid of AxMSWinsock, left over from VB6, which was the original version of this program.     - DataGridView causing problems VB 2005 - Windows Vista I have a form that seems to lock up when the number of rows exceed the height of the datagridview. The following code executes when data is received through the serial port (ie. barcode scanning). It seems that everything works GREAT and processes as it was meant to be until the rows exceed the display area. I have 7 columns. The Description column is the only column with the AutoSizeMode set to Fill. The datagridview is docked to the top. DataSource and DataMember for the DGV is not set to any dataset. I have the vertical scrollbar property set but it does not show up most of the time. When/If it does, when I try and utilize the scrollbar, it locks up the application immediately.     - Moved from VB6 to VS2005 and stumped on simple task Dear All, I'm bemused, I'm moving an application I've written from VB6 into VS2005, and I'm getting all the fundamentals over before I delve into the hard part, like getting the forms layout etc....and the simple things, like the 'About' option, opens another form.... Well here is the problem (which has me stumped).... My VB6 Application, I click 'About' and it opens a form, from that form, there is an 'ok' to close that form or 'information' which opens another form with 'information' on it... So I tried this in VS2005.....both forms get opened? but the code isn't telling it too? Form1 is the main form, Form3 is the About Box and Form2 is the Information Box, I choose About and Form2 and 3 open....even though the code is Form3.Show(), there is no reference to opening Form2, so why is form2 deciding to open? I'm confused.... Also, whilst I'm here, it is getting apparent, VS2005 is much more advanced that VB6, but on the flip side, so is the MSDN for it...Does anybody know of any sites that are for beginners for VS2005?     - File Encryption/Decryption problem Iâ??m trying to encrypt and decrypt a file in vb.net. I am using the TripleDESCryptoServiceProvider encryption found in System.Security.Cryptography. Below is the code for my Encrypt and Decrypt functions. While my functions read and write files the encryption/decryption is not working properly. My test file has an original length of 66,048 bytes. My encrypted file ends up with 66,056 bytes â?¦ 8 bytes more than my original. When I decrypt the encrypted file the resultant file is also 66,056 bytes in length â?¦ obviously different than the original! I feel like Iâ??m missing something obvious.     - AutoSize Issues I am trying to display several images on a standard Windows Form. Each image is displayed in a PictureBox control that is 180,130 in size. I get the Primary Screen size to determine how many images will on one line of images. I have a form boolean variable that I set to true in the ClientSizedChanged event handler. In the loop where I am displaying the images, I check this boolean, and if true, I set the Y coordinate loop counter to the actual Y location of the last image placed. This seems to work OK for the first line of images drawn after the first client size changed event, but it goes haywirea after that, drawing each image at some random location on a line, with several lines since the last image drawn.     - Need help with custom install package This is my first custom installer and essentially I needed to create one that installed windows installer 3.1 then installed .Net 2.0 Service Pack 1. I could not find a pre-packaged .Net 2.o SP 1 installer package anywhere so this is my attempt.
