I bought a refurbished laptop running windows 2000 pro.
When I went to update site there are 35 updates.
The "add" button was grayed but the remove button was
active. I do not want to download and install 35 updates
at once. Some of them say to install separately. And I
don't want to press the "remove" 34 times, then 33 times,
etc. How do I get the add button activated so I can
download and install one at a time.

I don't think you can for critical updates - only remove is available. If
you install the service pack first [if any shown] the number may drop quite
a bit. A service pack will take a long time if you are using dial up. You
don't have to install one at a time, but it makes sense to do five at a
time. Be sure to disable any antivirus program or other running applications
[other than firewall] before downloading/installing critical updates. ---

Thanks for replying. I'll look for a service pack first
and try that.
