I routinely ran spybot and ad-aware, in addition to my AVG virus checker and
the on-line virus check with Trend Micro and RAV.

None of them detected any malware.

Then I installed the MS Antispyware program. It immediately found a Trojan:
iteye, located in c:/windows\system32\notpad.exe . It is shown as a high
threat level.

Why do all these other programs not detect something as obvious as
notpad.exe??

Virus, trojan, worm, malware - yes!

Notice the spelling of "notpad" - *not* a valid Windows file.
"notepad.exe" under Windows XP, is located in the [C:\WINDOWS] directory.
Run MS anti-spyware again and follow the prompted actions to take with this file.

If its a real virus I am sure the rest of the programs also would have
alerted as well..Most likely i suspect the situation where you're infected
with this worm/virus/Trojan recently or just before downloading MS Anti
Spyware...
