in the event viewer i see this every time i log onto the
net:
the user User Name successfully established a connection
to The Internet (1) using the device IRDA12-1
under explanation or the click to find an answer, it says
this:
The user %1 successfully established a connection to %2
using the device %3.

anyone understand that??
zone alarm, just put in (pro) is blocking 200 attempts a
day.
when i shut off za, i have norton also. it shows about 10
attempts every session.

looking deep into the users, there is NO "user name"
showing as an 'account' only the default names are there.

what's the darn deal here?

please help

Ok, your post was some what hard for me to understand,
maybe thats just me. Anyway, this is what I would
recommend you doing. Make sure your virus definations are
up to date. Download spybot search and destroy, do a
google search for it. Run windows update and get all
critical updates. Reboot when all that is done. Run a
full system scan with norton and the same with spybot.
After that spend some time getting down and dirty with ZA
and really understand how it works and then configure it
to what is best for your needs. After that if you really
want to get your computer going good do a defragment on
your hard drive(s) and schedule a disk check for your next
system reboot. After this make sure you schedule to have
windows updates downloaded when you get online, and make
sure spybot is up to date and run it periodically. YOu
may want to find a second spy ware removel tool to get
what spy bot misses. Once all this is done it's just
maintenance in making sure everything is up to date. Now,
I know this does not address what you asked exactly, but
if you do all this I can about 99% guarentee that your
system is clean and by proxy what you are seeing in event
viewer is normal. If you want me to tell you what the
stuff in event viewer means, please give me more info.
Someone else might be able to tell you better as I do not
work with dial-up much anymore.

>Hello,notfunny,

Are you sure it is not the standard event logging of when
you "establish a remote connection" YOURSELF-i.e. with
your I.S.P?
