I recently started having problems retrieving my Comcast mail (uses I.E. as its base program). When I asked Comcast what was going on, they said I must have a pop-up or ad blocker running. I haven't intentionally installed a blocker ... although my kids did have some extra toolbars (Yahoo, Google, AOL) that had pop-up blocker capability. I've removed the toolbars and have gone thru the internet options as best as I can ... but I still can't get the popups (which, in this case, I need) to work (Comcast uses pop-ups for several of the items on their main page). What else can I look at so that I can start accessing my Comcast mail again?? I have a workaround where I can login to AOL, go to comcast.net, sign-in and bring up my mail -- but I want to do this directly from Comcast/I.E

Thanks in advance!

What Comcast URL are you using? Why not use Mozilla instead of IE? Have
you added Comcast to your Trusted zones?

I access Comcast via 'http://www.comcast.net' -- once I
sign-in, I click on the 'Mail' tab and a new window pops
up with the mail. I **can** select the 'Mail' option on
the toolbar (which uses Outlook Express) to download the
mail locally ... but it currently doesn't take care of all
of the folders on Comcast's webmail that I have set up.

I've never used Mozilla before ... will have to check it
out before making any comments.

I'll look into adding comcast.net to my 'trusted zones' ...
I think it's already there, but it doesn't hurt to take
another look!

Thanks for the reply ....

Kevin

To suggest someone switch over to Mozilla from Internet
Explorer just to receive wanted pop-ups from one
particular Web site is, with all due respect, LOUSY
advice!!!

I skip the web interface with Comcast usually. You might have gotten a
bad page load, have you cleared your Temp and Temp Internet files to
delete any bad copies so a fresh copy will download?

Comcast works fine with popups stopped, I use Mozilla there all the
time. I use IE now and then but even okaying the scripts will not let
all the page load sometimes.

Personally I find IE to be outdated and a security risk so I rarely use it.

Okay, Mozilla is better than Internet Explorer; don't hit
me! LOL

But if I can get serious for a moment...

From what I've read, spyware attacks BOTH browsers, so
saying Internet Explorer is a security risk isn't really
saying much.

Mozilla isn't the browser from God; nothing is 100%
secure. I think the reason Mozilla is seen as "more
secure" than IE is because more people use IE; in other
words, as soon as Mozilla becomes as popular as IE as far
as usage, more baddies will concentrate on finding
vulnerabilities within Mozilla and it will be attacked as
much as IE, and when that time comes, people will start
barking out, "Personally, I find MOZILLA to be outdated
and a security risk."

From what I read, Mozilla is loved by many and is seen as
the best alternative to IE, but I'm too chicken $hit to
switch over ;)

Mozilla has javascript to worry about but IE has ActiveX besides
javascript, much more dangerous by default and too many users have no
clue about security settings (I make good money removing spyware and
hardening IE on other people's systems and since I offer to install
Mozilla many switch and never need help again). IE will catch up in
features with Mozilla (tabs, popup blocker) with XP Service Pack 2.
Spyware is installed as Browser Objects, ActiveX and tricking people
into installing them (downloads) so Mozilla is less likely to get
spyware installed.
