That's rather like asking for the secret of life. There are so many
different aspects to security, especially when you bring networks into the
picture. There are several books devoted to the matter, so there's really
no way that it's going to be explained to you in an email.

I could explain it in one word: education. The more you know about your
system, the more you know how to protect it. But that's hardly helpful. Go
to your local bookstore or library, and look into some books on systems
administration and security.

While posting your email address may make it easier to receive replies, it
will also get you a certain measure of Swen virus emails. Please beware of
these fake Microsoft Patches which tend to follow posting an email address
in a public group.
