secure sites

i am new to the internet. I cannot get to any secure
sites. I think i may have changed somthing in my settings.
i have tried resetting all security features. the problem
seems to be featured around ms messenger. i can no longer
get on i cant even change my pass word every time i go to
a secure site it says it can't be displayed
