There are some companies providing free secure(encrpted) email. I have a
question --why hotmail service still has so many users though hotmail
doesn't provide users secure email services? We send non-encrypted hotmail
which is easily captured by hackers.

And you trust those free sites? I remember the rumors years ago that the
CIA and NSA ran several of those services.

It is not so easy to capture a Hotmail account as you seem to think. It can
be done, though; by trapping keystrokes from a computer where the hacker has
access, and can set up a keystroke logger. Or by social engineering;
tricking an Internet user into running a program which installs malware on
his computer.

Your ISP, and all ISPs, send unecrypted e-mail. Doesn't stop them from
providing e-mail service, does it? Doesn't stop users from using
unencrypted e-mail, does it?

Hotmail's login is encrypted (I believe it is on the submit and not by
using an SSL secure web page). Yahoo defaults to a non-secure login but
has a link to open an SSL-secured web page to login. ISPs often require
you to use non-standard ports for SSL login. However, that is ONLY for
the login to secure your username and password. After that, all
commands and traffic are in plain text. This isn't anything new.

If you want not just your login encrypted but also want your content
encrypted then go pay for such a service. Or just send digitally
encrypted e-mail using certificates. You can get freebie certs at
Thawte or buy them (which provide complete info in your cert about you
as the sender).
