I'd like to know if there is any possibility that I could
change my PC's IP address or use a proxy server so I could
access a webpage that verifies my datas and I'd be sure
that it can't get my real ones?I'd really apreciate if you
could help me here.I'm using Windows 98 SE,Internet
Explorer 5.0 and I use a dial-up connection to access the
internet.(if there are any mistakes in my letter, please
understand them,I'm a romanian)

you would have to ask your isp about changing your ip address, that is
assigned by them.

there are anonymous proxies you can use. anonymizer.com is one of them, try
searching google for other ones.

Yes and no. You could use one of the Internet public proxies, thus hiding
your IP. But the proxy could keep the connection log, which points back to
you.

May we wonder why do you need to do that?

Direct request also looks like one from a normal internet user - you don't
need a proxy to do that.

Without a proxy, over Ethernet connection of from the local host.

It's not clear what is the testing objective when you use a public proxy to
access your own server.

using an 'outside' ip instead of lan ip can be used to test ip filters, make
sure the isp doesn't have any necessary port blocked, and check routing from
isp through my router/firewall, and makes sure i'm not accidently locking
pages out by apply the wrong authentication requirements.
