I have received a few files entitled Microsoft Critical
Update. It has an attachment that makes the message 154K.

I have also received an administrative notice that my
message to *&&**^@puremail.net was returned.

I've never seen Microsoft use an e-mail to do a critical
update and have never sent anything to anyone at
puremail.net.

Anyone have a clue as to what's happening?

Jean

DON'T execute them! They are VIRUSES.
DON'T always do everything you're told to do in
some email whoever it claims to be from.

And NO these emails are NOT from Microsoft!

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/news/patch_hoax.asp

"Authentic security bulletin mailers never provide the patch itself or a
link to the patch; instead, they refer the reader to the complete version of
the bulletin on our web site, which provides a link to the patch"

They have warned about fake emails about 5-6 months ago.
But NO ONE listens.

This particular spam/virus:

Always keep up with latest system updates from windowsupdate site.

Consider getting a free (for home use) AV and firewall:

http://www.kerio.com/us/kpf_download.html

DON'T run ANY email attachments that you don't expect or
know about
