Hi.I have free mail accounts in Hotmail and in Yahoo.
They both offer security logging so the informations sent would be encrypted.
Most public PCs are infected with spyware and viruses and I wonder if I
access my mail account (in Hotmail for example) from an infected public PC ,
will some hacker be able to access my mail later because the keyloggers has
saved my password.I have heard that if the info is encrypted ,like in Yahoo
and in Hotmail,no spyware ,keylogger or hacker, noone would be able to
see(save) my password. Is that true? :)

Hi,
In order for any data or traffic to be encrypted you have to type it in
first - this initial typing is what the keyloggers capture. Encryption stops
people from getting your data via a packet capture etc but won't protect
against keyloggers. The safest answer is never to enter a password into any
system on a PC that you do not trust, public PC's are generally unsafe and
even if they claim to be checked for spyware, keyloggers etc personally I
don't trust them unless I have scanned them myself.

I have heard of some people who carry a notepad document with random words
and numbers.
When using a public pc, they copy the relevant password that is needed. This
prevents the keyloggers from obtaining your password.

Unfortunately, it opens you up to web-sites that make use of the ability to
access the clipboard.
