Is there any way to password protect Windows 98 on start-
up? (and not be able to by-pass it by chosing cancel)
Thanks in advance for the help.

Windows 98 can not be effectively password protected and has a
insecure file system in fat32. You would need Windows 2000 or XP to have
that capability. -- Steve

Not in any fashion that a clever seven year old couldn't bypass. Win9x/ME
are not designed with security in mind. Consider upgrading to 2k/XP.

3rd party software can still accomplish relatively secure Win9x
authentication. I would still also suggest upgrading to 2k or XP, since 98
is inherently an unstable and insecure OS... but I have used programs like
Fortres 101 to effectively secure lab machines from college students in the
past.

Ah, then you weren't teaching clever seven-year-olds. ;-)
