Problem is no password dialog box at a website.

I've subscribed to a website's email newsletter. The
newsletter provides 'privileged' username and password to
access a "markets list" page at the website. But the URL
only returns 'Authorization required'.

The editor emails me that I have the right URL, username
and password and perhaps I need to clear the cache - but
no go. My OS is Windows ME with 128-bit encryption.

Is my browser failing - or am I being spoofed?

Since I'm annoyed, here's the access details:

Username: write Password: well
