A close friend, who is in his eighties, and is housebound,
recently bought his first system, pre-installed with XP.
After using it for a couple of months someone advised him
to use a password log-on. He has forgotten his password
and cannot get into his system. Is there any other
solution other than re-installing XP?

Please can someone help!

There are various password crackers/hackers available on the net, but its
not something I am comfortable advertising in a public newsgroup - such
things are downright dangerous in the wrong hands, and although they're easy
enough to find if you know what to look for, I'm not going to make things
easier; email me from a legitimate account (not a Hotmail address or other
free service) and I'll consider sending information to you privately.
