Norton (what) 04? Did you uninstall it?

MS Windows AntiSpyware Beta does not replace anything in NAV 2004, NSW 2004
or NIS 2004.

Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for the Microsoft Windows
AntiSpyware Beta. Please post your query to:

Fortunately ,he is not talking about MS Antispyware but for Norton Internet
Security 2005 ANTI-SPYWARE EDITION.

Hello hopeful.

I had the same issue when the last time I tested Norton IS 2005 (Antispyware
ed.)
This happened because Norton IS 2005 has integrated Personal Firewall which
is very nasty in my opinion and also difficult to control.Your problem
because because Norton's firewall blocked Internet Explorer (iexplorer.exe)
and some other files essential for internet.

So the only decision I would suggest is to contact Symantec and change to
Norton ANTIVIRUS 2006 (not Internet Security, only Antivirus)

So while installing the new 2006 Antivirus ,you will be able to keep your
Windows Firewall ON and turn OFF Norton AV's worm protection so you will have
no problems.

In which case I'd (1) uninstall NIS 2005/2006, (2) uninstall Norton Whatever
2004 via Add/Remove Programs, (3) run all the removal tools appropriate for
Norton Whatever 2004 listed here...

Symantec NAV, NIS, NSW Removal
http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm

...and then (4) reinstall NIS 2005/2006.

If still no joy, see
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/nip.nsf/docid/2005083015103436: Perform
all steps from "To disable Symantec Protection in the 2006 product" down.
