my av found netchatspy on my system. i googled it and its supposed to be for
puters on a network. im not on a net work. have no idea how i got it. i dont
use msn or windows messenger. any opions would be appreciated. thanks

I don't know how you got it either, but since it monitors instant
messaging chat sessions, I'd ask your parents if that is applicable.
Otherwise uninstall it and scan your computer for viruses and malware.

Change all IM passwords, too.

You're welcome. That is why I was careful to say "if applicable to you".
Same advice goes - uninstall the program, scan for malware, change
passwords. Practice Safe Hex.

apologize about the short reply, the program was removed by my av, what i
dont understand is how i got it. i dont use msn im's. windows messenger is
disabled. no one has access to my puter.and im not on a network. i practice
safe hex. where did it come from and how was someone able to get it on my
system?

There's no way for me to answer that question. Mistaken click on
something? IE or Java vulnerability? All you can do is continue to
practice Safe Hex, use an alternate browser (although nothing is
invulnerable), keep your av current and scan for malware regularly.
