Hi Kathy. I think for the consumer market, Norton is tops as far as anti virus. I
have nor tried their firewall. If you are using a cable/dsl modem, you may want to
try a nat/firewall device instead. Those devices will not give you the kind of
outbound protection. However I believe that for the average user, that using an up to
date virus scanner that also scans emails [like Norton] and keeping up to date as far
as critical patches is more important. The personal firewalls can become hard to
configure and if you make a couple wrong configurations you find that you are
protecting yourself from yourself and not having a very functional computer. You
might try to reinstall your Norton firewall first to get it back to default settings.
Keep in mind that you may have other issues with your computer also. It would make
sense to download something like SpyBot Search and Destroy to go through your
computer for "junkware". Also see link below about how to add sites to your trusted
Web Content Zone where generally lower security settings are used for Internet
Explorer which may allow them to work as they should. --- Steve
