I have recieved an email from a friend of mine saying
that I had registered them to recieve mails from there
site as it logged my IP (this is from a porn site btw) and
I know for a fact I have not done this can anyone shed any
light onto how this is possible he is furious about it and
so am I. It has been suggested to me that it could be that
I have been logged when I have tried to unsubscribe from
these mails (stupid move) as I have access to his mails
him being my b/f please help ANYONE !!!

Assuming the computer in question never visited the site, they are
hoping to draw a response. IP's are not used to log into a site, they
are logged however which does NOT mean you agreed to anything. I say
ignore that notice from the porn site until you get more e-mails from
them, they are just spamming hoping for responses and neither of you
ever visited their site.

Do you have a static IP address?

Indeed, if you ever tried to unsubscribe from a spam message, and they used
a web form, or even told you to send an unsubscribe request via email, they
got your IP address from the unsubscribe attempt. There are a number of
tricks spammers play, when the unsubscribe link actually works; this is just
one of them.
